Welcome to Pleasant Times, a 6-bedroom, beautifully preserved 1807 Nantucket home recognized by the Nantucket Historical Society. Steeped in history and classic New England charm, this home offers a unique blend of character and comfort—ideal for couples, families, or a group of friends, it comfortably accommodates 10–12 guests.

Inside, a series of inviting living spaces—living room, parlor, dining room, a newly renovated eat-in kitchen with pantry, and three gas fireplaces—create the perfect setting for gathering and relaxing. Thoughtful updates include ceiling fans and built-in speakers throughout, modern bathrooms, A/C, and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after a day at the beach.

Upstairs, you’ll find flexible sleeping arrangements, including three king, one queen, and one full bedroom. The third floor features a cozy sitting area and a bedroom with one King and one twin bed—perfect for kids or additional guests.

Outdoors, enjoy one of the rare larger in-town fenced yards—ideal for grilling, lawn games, or simply relaxing in the Nantucket breeze.

Centrally located, Pleasant Times is just a short walk from the ferry and downtown Nantucket’s shops, restaurants, historic landmarks, and museums. Beaches and scenic trails are only a quick drive or bike ride away. Once the home of Captain Latham Gardner, this historic property offers a timeless retreat in one of the island’s most desirable locations.

Classic Nantucket Home - Comfortable & Charming!

One of the few remaining historic homes in town that has been lovingly updated and maintained while retaining the original gorgeous architecture and unique elements of classic Nantucket homes. I love the layout of the house, with plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and also share together in the common spaces. The large yard is perfect for outdoor dining and kids playing on the lawn, and the best part is the location is a quick walk to the heart of Town. It’s especially great for multigenerational vacations, if your family has grandchildren and grandparents. The top floor is perfect for kids - a nautical hangout space with separate beds and nautical decor. Thank you for renting your lovely home for us to enjoy!

Best island location, great owners, house has tons of island charm and space

Owners are great, very responsive, very accommodating, helpful...more so than I could have imagined or hoped for. 8 of us went over for the stroll, great weather till the last day. 6 of us were getting off by boat, later in the day 2 had early evening plane reservations. I asked for a later check out and since they had no one coming they said sure. When ACK cancelled all flights that Sunday, the 2 on the plane were stuck. I felt bad asking if the two of them could stay another night, but the owners were so gracious, let them stay over at no additional cost. Having lived on the island, I can say that for vacationing, the house location is perfect. Easy walking distance to everything in town, but far enough away and in a very quiet section. On top of that, take a left out of the driveway and it’s a straight two minute drive to the mid island hub used by all locals (All stores, the rotary to get you anywhere, gas starion, etc) The house itself has all the charms you’d expect from a nearly 200 year old island home. Old wood floors and quirky doors, but lots of space to either spread out or get together. 8 adults never felt cramped one bit. Easily could have been quite a few more. And we never even ventured up to the third floor. Although we didn’t use it (being December) the back yard is surprisingly large and private for the In town location. Thanks for everything.

Perfect house for a weekend on Nantucket

We stayed at Pleasant Times for a September wedding weekend and absolutely loved it!! The house is clean and spacious with lots of living space and a great backyard, fully equipped with beach chairs & towels, coolers & ice, etc. The proximity to town makes it the perfect location to walk to the best restaurants and shops. Marti was the best hostess and wonderful to work with before, during and after our stay and we hope to go back soon!!

Wonderful, grand historic home right in town

We stayed at Pleasant Times after reading the reviews and it could not have been more spot on. Wonderful, centrally- located, historic captain's home, next to town with all the amenities one could ask for (bikes, beach toys, coolers, even an ice machine!). We had 3 generations there for a mini family reunion and it could not have been better! The owners were responsive and detailed when we had a local question. They even recommended a few places to eat and activities that only the locals new about (Loines Observatory for example!). I look forward to returning to Pleasant Times next year! Everything that my family could have asked for and more!

Great house, great location

This quaint, charming and spacious home has everything for a perfect Nantucket vacation. We had another great week at Pleasant Times, walking around the corner, down Main Street to find a new favorite restaurant, taking a bike ride to the Brant Point Lighthouse and the Children's Beach or just staying in on a rainy day. Whether you are looking for the perfect rental for your young family, or having a "grown up" reunion with friends, this home offers everything that is great about Nantucket. The owners are also very kind and accommodative, which is a major plus. FIVE STARS!!!!

Excellent house for a group on Nantucket

We had an excellent time at this house. There was plenty of equipment to make awesome meals, and our host was very prompt and helpful with any questions we had over text. We used the beach towns, grill, bikes, cornhole set, and more. She gave us great instructions for what to do on the island and let us have a late checkout. We will hopefully be back soon!

A great week was had by all!

This was our third stay at Pleasant Times and the best yet. We love the house and the location is absolutely ideal. We get up early each day and walk down the cobblestone street to the wharf and look at the beautiful boats. The house has several bikes, an industrial ice maker, coolers, beach games, wonderful Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrella’s. There were enough chairs for our party of 11 and several to spare. The backyard was a favorite hang out for our crew. I love to cook out and they have a top of the line gas grill that made me very happy. Most importantly, we consider Marti our good friend as she’s been wonderful to us over the years.

Great place to stay on Nantucket

The Pleasant Times is a terrific place to stay on Nantucket. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor space that hold a good amount of people and you can't beat the location (right next to the cobblestones that lead downtown). The owner was very helpful and responsive both before and during our visit. She let us check in first thing in the morning and even was willing to let us stay until the last boat out on Sunday. Very generous and a delight to work with. I hope to be back soon!

2nd Times A Charm

This is our second time staying at Pleasant Times and once again it was perfect. Everything about the location will keep us coming back. Marti was very active in making sure we had everything we needed.

Nantucket stay

We are so sorry that we cannot give you a review as we never made it to Nantucket due to Hurrican Jose. I am sure it would have been lovely and the owners seemed so nice! Maybe some time in the future we can experience Nantucket.

WOW, just wow, couldn't have been better!

Everything about our stay this past weekend was amazing! Marti and Mark were fantastic, have to give a special shout-out to Marti. I couldn't think of a better person to work with and rent from - THANK YOU times a million! On top of that, the house was fantastic, it was roomie yet cozy. The backyard was awesome (extra points for outdoor shower) and it was a super simple walk to/from downtown. Suffice to say, we will most definitely be renting from Marti and Mark again. Absolute no-brainer!

Wonderful family week away

We had an amazing week staying in Pleasant Times! There were six of us that stayed for Labor Day week. The house was clean, comfy and had so many amenities, but the best was location, location location! We were able to walk to so many places but also have a great quiet home to walk back to. The kitchen had everything that you could possibly need, It felt like being home. We loved every minute of our family vacation on our favorite island. Incredible charm, close to town, fantastic hosts

We wanted a big, beautiful and charming house within 5 minutes walk to downtown Nantucket - and we found it at Pleasant Times! We hosted a family reunion with 11 people (8 adults, 3 kids) and everyone was smitten with the history of this spacious captain's house and the historic street where it is situated. No one wanted to leave as everyone slept comfortably and the Nantucket whaler motif permeated throughout the house. We felt like we went back in time reading books, playing cards and exploring the local sights. The owners Mark and Marti went above and beyond providing local knowledge to beaches that the non-locals would not have known about. When we had a question - they were quick to respond which was an added bonus. The extra amenities provided were perfect for all of us. Beach toys, umbrellas, chairs and multiple bikes with trailer for pulling kids. Their BBQ setup/outdoor space was spectacular as was their lawn to host an outdoor gathering. Mark and Marti even made sure we knew about the ice fridge in the basement - a great help in the June heat. I would recommend this house to anyone who wants location, spacious, history, charm, and fantastic hosts. I look forward to returning.

Quaint, charming, historic home.

"Best house we've ever rented" said my husband. Our family shared this amazing home with our good friends for 4 days. 9 of us in all including 4 teenagers and a 10 year old. The house is incredibly spacious with room after room of charming period pieces. The house is full of supplies, from kitchen items to towels to bikes and beach supplies. Great location. Super easy walk to town and a great starting point for bike rides to either end of the island (if you're feeling energetic). The owners were great to work with and made the rental process super easy. They truly wanted to ensure that we had a great stay in their home on the island that they love.

Perfect location and setting for a Nantucket adventure

I cannot recommend staying at Pleasant Times enough! Marti & Mark Marache (Owners) and their caretaker, Herb, were incredibly responsive and helpful whether by phone call, text message or in-person stopover. For instance, there had been some initial confusion with the home away-vrbo online booking system (turns out I had 2 accounts that the system was mixing up) and the Maraches were patient and helpful in figuring it out (much more so than the home away help desk). Whether you want to grill pizzas, while friends and family lounge comfortably in the backyard, listen to music throughout the house with the Sonos system, or head out for a bike ride or to the beach, this house has it all. The backyard is the perfect combination of shade and sun (and there's a fantastic outdoor shower). The basement is amazingly stocked with bikes, beach chairs, coolers, beach umbrellas, boogie boards and even corn hole (aka "bags")! The house is delightfully charming and oh so New England - Nantucket. You can't imagine being anywhere else than where you are. Book it and enjoy!

Quintessential Nantucket home close to town

Well maintained Nantucket property. Rooms upon rooms...there is so much to discover. Plenty of space to relax, entertain and enjoy this beautiful space. Well manicured lawn and yard. Owners are so kind and responsive. This is a gem!

Wonderful house, great in-town location!!

We love this quaint and beautiful house with it's original charm and modern updates! We especially love the lush backyard, the outdoor shower, and the attic playroom/bedroom with the lookout. As parents of toddlers, we appreciated the convenience of being just a few blocks from town and Children's Beach. It's also just a bike ride from the Chicken Box, Cisco Brewery, and other points of interest.

Comfortable, Convenient and Quaint

Our family loved the original charm and character of this home. The location is close to town, which made it easy and convenient to go out to the museums, tours and some of the best restaurants we have ever been to. The home has the perfect mix of historical charm and modern amenities, a great table to eat outside in the backyard and plenty of room inside. The owner was extremely friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

Perfect Fall Getaway

Pleasant Times certainly lives up to its name. We descended on Nantucket for a beautiful weekend away from the city and had a great experience at this property. It is perfectly positioned to get down town and not too far from other popular destinations (Cisco Brewery/Chicken Box). The "Beauty Shack" was the highlight of the sleeping arrangements by all guests present, an attic with 3 twin beds, perfect for late night pillow talk. I would certainly look to reserve this property in the future and I recommend others do as well.

Amazing house and location!

We love this house and have been staying here for YEARS! 6 Pleasant is very well maintained and has all the immentities one could ask for! If you are going to the beach or shopping in town, this house has it all. The location is a 4 minute walk to town, restaurants and children's beach and a short drive to all the other beaches. My kids grew up in this house and we will never rent anything else on ACK. The owners are amazing and everything is always perfect!!

Excellent in town property, excellent owner

I have rented this property for several years. The location is excellent for those interested on in town rentals. The home is extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The owner is very responsive and does an amazing job keeping the home in great condition and continuing to improve and add amenities. The ice maker in the basement is one of my favorite features, which enables easy loading of coolers for beach runs.
