Fantastic villa and a base to explore Arenal region

Our three-day stay at the villa in Costa Rica was fantastic! The location near the lake and volcano offered stunning views, while the surrounding trees and birdlife added to the natural charm. The villa was cozy and comfortable, providing a perfect base for exploring the area. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would love to go back.

Stunning View Great Space

Our time here as home base for exploring Arenal was fantastic! Huge and beautiful space for our family of five. Comfortably holds many more. The view incredible from every room. Small things were taken care of quickly and response with owner was good. Loved our stay.

Breathtaking!

Photos don't do it justice! The view, breeze and nature are unbelievable. Beds comfy, kitchen well stocked, location was private and secluded but also convenient.. There is plenty of room for everyone to relax and reset. The washer and dryer was convenient. I'd live here permanently if I was able šŸ‡ØšŸ‡· Communication with the host was great!!

The View Alone is Worth It

Large, comfortable home for our group of six adults. Spectacular view in an extremely private setting. Bird watchersā€™ paradise. Short drive or hike on steep terrain for restaurant, soda, very basic shopping. Ideal location for the start to our CR vacation. Nice to have laundry facilities and nicely equipped kitchen. Pura Vida!

Heaven on the Lake

Big spacious, comfortable home overlooking Arenal Lake. The view is unforgettable and the host true to his word. You see a tree fell on the property water line breaking it and leaving us without water. Our host, Alexi, as promised, reimbursed us the full rental amount. All this American can say to my French amigo is Viva La France!

An excellent stay

This is certainly one of the most beautiful places in the Arenal region, with a stunning view. The house is charming, on top of a hill in a secluded area. Expect beautiful sunsets before you go to sleep and Howler monkeys nearby to wake you up in the morning. The house is spacious and comfortable with all amenities you need. A 4x4 is recommended to get to the property but you need one anyways to go places in Costa Rica. Restaurants are just down the hill, a supermarket at 15 a minute drive. Alexis, the property owner and host, picked us up when we arrived to show us the way, and was very friendly and supportive. Thanks Alexis for your warm welcome! We had a wonderful time and we can definitely recommend the place.

Beautiful house with an amazing view!

Best view of lake Arenal FROM THE HOUSE. Be sure to drive a 4x4 car to get up the hill. Well appointed kitchen and huge doors to create a nice cross breeze. Be careful of the wind catching and slamming the back door though, especially if you happen to have a sleeping baby! Excellent access to MistĆ­co hanging bridges and restaurants just down the hill. Hotel La MansĆ­on had great food and vibes with a beautiful outdoor area. Alexisā€™ wifeā€™s restaurant in Nuevo Arenal had good food with a great beer selection. If youā€™re new to Costa Rica consider ordering your steaks one level more cooked than you generally would want. This place is a great option if you want to spend some time in a home near Nuevo Arenal!

Family vacation at Lake Arenal

The house has wonderful views and the living spaces are nice and large.great location for exploring the Arenal area.we spent 4 nights 3 days. We went to Mistico Hanging bridges, white water rafting, Baldi Hot Springs and enjoyed the shops and restaurants of La Fortuna and Nuevo Arenal. The first night we had a chef and assistant provide us a beautiful meal to kick off our trip after a long day of travel. The food was great! Itā€™s definitely Costa Rica living. You have to be ok with some bugs in the house with you! The house does not have air conditioning, so windows and doors are open and most donā€™t have screens. We learned after the first night to turn on outside lights and only have on the lamps inside to not attract the bugs ! We would definitely rent this home again if we come back to Arenal.

Great place

This was a great place to stay. Very comfortable, private, and remote with amazing views. I think its important to know exactly what you get and be ok with it. If you expect more than this then you wont have a great time. 1. There is no dishwasher 2. There is no A/C but it stays pretty cool most of the time 3. There are bugs (you are in the middle of a jungle) 4. The views are amazing 5. The privacy is great 6. It's about 20-40 minutes to get to things but that wasn't an issue for us Would recommend this highly to friends and would use again.

Buyer beware!!!

If I could give this place less than one star I would, this place was disgusting, there were dead bugs all over the floor and live bugs, crawling all over the counters and the table. The laundry room had multiple bags of trash stacked on top of each other with live bugs flying around it. The place looked very unkept. We left within 30 minutes of arriving and decided to stay at a resort instead because I could not stay in this place. It was too dirty and disgusting with all of the bugs everywhere we contacted the owner who told us he was unable to refund our money after arguing with him he said heā€™d refund $200 which he has yet to do. Needless to say this was the worst experience ever I would not recommend this place at all.

Family Trip

Nice house in a beautiful setting. Lots of space for a large group. A few problems that marred our stay just a bit: No window/door screens or fans in the large common area which meant the only way to get any relief from the heat was to open the doors which meant mosquitoes inside. Were supposed to be fans in bedrooms but two of them didn't work. A few safety issues: 1) clothes dryer does not shut off on its own 2) missing smoke detectors 3) one of the bedroom doors has a lock that's installed backwards. Door blew shut on its own several times, once when door knob was in locked position and daughter was in the room. If someone hadn't been there, she would have been trapped in the room 4) gas stove burners do not light on their own and we were given just a small cigarette lighter to light them manually which resulted in a couple of scorched fingers 5) one of the exterior door locks was broken so house was not secure when we were out for the day Most of these things are easily correctable so hopefully they will be fixed for future guests. Our stay cost us over $500 per night, however. At that price we weren't expecting to have to deal with things like these

Amazing View and sounds of nature

The property had amazing views. The best part was waking up in the morning to the sound of birds and other wild life and having chef prepared breakfast :) Some reviews did mention the bugs: you're in nature; it's expected and you get used to it and they do have pest control. No AC, but they provided fans and it was comfortable. Place is MUCH larger than the pictures. Highly recommend hiring James to cook for you!! We had him prepare breakfast daily! He's amazing and it makes getting started with your day easier. Home has washer & Dryer. Was a life saver on the rainy day adventures we had. The drive to town or to any attractions is about 30-35 minutes through narrow, windy mountain roads, and it dark at 5:30, so keep that in mind. We were not prepared and I may have selected somewhere closer to 'town' for our first visit to the La Fortuna area in order to explore La Fortuna, which we didn't get a chance to do. Also, getting up to the home isn't as bad as some reviews said (IMO). It was raining and dark when we arrived; we had a 9 passenger VAN, and while we did struggle for a second, we made it up. It's only the first time up that's a bit daunting. Overall, we were very happy and it was worth it for size of home and VIEWS and I would definitely stay there again and explore the area more. FYI: There are a few small restaurants just down the main driveway from home as well as a small market, that surprising had everything we needed; even medication.

Amazing view!

At first, we received the wrong check-in instructions. We drove an extra 25 min each way from the house to meet with someone for check-in. On the day of the check-in, the owner sent us another message with the correct instructions and house info, but we were on a road trip that day and the internet was not working everywhere plus I wasn't looking for new instructions when I already received one. I will not recommend driving there after dark: the road along the lake is veeeery wavy and it is very hard to drive. The house itself was disappointing.. at first, it is very dirty: dead dry bugs everywhere, dirty dishes (disgusting) and old/used sponge to wash dishes, some dirty bed linens, a lot of bugs (alive) inside, one of the bathrooms: shower without a door - when you take a shower, everything becomes wet. There is no AC. The owner brought fans, but they were very loud, and around 9 am (we were in March) it was already stuffy. All furniture, mattresses and everything are old and the house itself is not taken good care of. On the good side- the view was amazing, a lot of birds around, very spacious house. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place and wouldn't come back.

Stunning view

The house was great but it was not well stocked with just a few basicsā€”no trash bags, dish soap, salt and pepper. Check in was super confusing. We were told to drive to a restaurant which was nearby to pick up the key. The restaurant turned out to be quite inconvenient to get to so the owner said he would meet us at the house and he was 30 minutes late. The house has been painted dark blue and the photos are white so I didnā€™t know if we were at the correct property. There was no sign to identify it. Either way I recommend that you DO NOT attempt to find this property after dark. The roads are extremely winding and narrow and itā€™s very hard to find the turn off to the house. The house does not have AC, which was listed in the description so it wasnā€™t a surprise, but it also lacked screens for the large glass doors and the windows. The breeze at night was great but without screens a lot of beetles were attracted to the lights inside and some biting insects. The internet never worked for us which was problematic. The network was visible but every time we tried to connect it said ā€œno internetā€ and the owner was not responsive about this. The location of this house and the open spaciousness made up for the other areas of lack. The view was absolutely breathtaking and the sounds of the birds in the morning was glorious.

Review on home and area:

The beginning was a little rocky but we were able to maneuver problems. Housekeeping could be definitely improved and response time to questions slow. The view was fabulous and the quiet was something I hadn't experienced in a long time. This area is one that has good roads and a few eating areas. A little disappointed with showers....but its Costa Rica. We could only get 2 warm showers and then the hot is gone. Just have to work around the system and go with the flow. Yes, I would rent again.

My name is Alexis. Iā€™m originally from France, and I have been living in Costa Rica for many years. I fell in love with this country for the same reasons many of our guests do: the nature, the calm, the warmth of the people, and the feeling that life here moves at the right pace.

I have always enjoyed creating and improving spaces. Hosting came naturally to me because I like offering places where people can truly relax, feel comfortable, and enjoy their surroundings without compromises. I donā€™t see these houses as ā€œrentalsā€ ā€” they are homes that Iā€™ve personally chosen, remodeled, and furnished with care, using quality materials and finishes that age well and feel good to live in.

What I enjoy most about hosting is knowing that guests are creating memories here: family trips, time with friends, quiet mornings by the lake, or evenings enjoying the views after a day exploring Arenal. I aim to provide homes that feel peaceful, functional, and welcoming ā€” places where you can settle in easily, whether youā€™re staying a few nights or a few weeks.

I live locally and take pride in being a hands-on host. This means clear communication, attention to detail, and being available if you need help, recommendations, or local insight. At the same time, I fully respect guestsā€™ privacy and want you to feel at home from the moment you arrive.

Costa Rica has a lot to offer, but Arenal is truly special. Between the lake, the volcano, the wildlife, and the slower rhythm of life, itā€™s a place that invites you to disconnect and enjoy the present moment. Iā€™m happy to share this part of the country with travelers who appreciate comfort, nature, and quality.
