The region is characterised by its rural manor houses, which are always worth a visit. The architecture is beautiful to behold. It is easy to immerse yourself in the way of life of the past in Am Salzhaff. The village museum with its exhibition of old agricultural tools makes this possible. Country bread is made in an original clay oven, just as it used to be. A real treat for the palate.



The absolute highlight of the region is, of course, the salt lagoon. This gave the municipality its name. It is a bay that is separated from the Baltic Sea by offshore land. Only a small inlet supplies the brackish waters with salt water from the Baltic Sea. Perfect conditions for a unique habitat. The Salzhaff is also an excellent surfing region.
