Sobre esta propriedade
Pristine and Historical Lakefront Home
This is not a modern lake house. It’s something far rarer.
Welcome to Villa Von Baumbach, hosted by Sheboygan Vacation Rentals. This home is the oldest cottage on Elkhart Lake, is a nationally registered historic home, and has been lovingly preserved by one family for decades. Built by the Von Baumbach family in the 19th century, and carefully restored over time, this is a place for people who value history, character, and shared lake experiences over polished sameness.
Days here move at lake pace: sunrise coffee on the boathouse deck, swimming straight off the dock, paddling glassy water in a vintage canoe, walking the lakeside path into town for dinner or the farmers market, and ending evenings with long conversations on the porch as the sun sets across the water.
Many of our guests return year after year. This tends to become a tradition.
The Overflow is designed for large families and groups who enjoy being together.
- 5 private bedrooms
- Our 6th bedroom we call the “sleeping porch” which is a large room with 4 twin beds AND a children’s bed — ideal for kids, cousins, or close friends
- Multiple living spaces across three floors, so groups can gather or spread out
-A well-equipped kitchen, with Wolf cooktop built for cooking and dining together.
- Wraparound porches, a lakeside boathouse, and a private dock made for slow mornings and lively evenings
- Ping-pong table too
This is a solid, well-maintained historic home with modern systems where they matter — updated bathrooms, a renovated kitchen, geothermal heating & cooling, and year-round comfort — while preserving the feel and details of the 19th century. Expect charm, quirks, antiques, and stories. Expect authenticity.
Lake & Outdoor Living
- Private dock with direct lake access (jump right in)
- Vintage canoe and tandem kayak for your use
- Fishing gear, life jackets, and paddles
- Multiple outdoor gathering spaces for meals and conversation
- Clear, spring-fed lake ideal for swimming, paddling, and floating
- Scenic walking path that runs directly in front of the house
(Guests who love lake life tend to love it here.)
Location Highlights
- Walkable lakeside path to the village of Elkhart Lake (≈15 minutes)
- 5 minutes to Road America — a favorite for race teams and fans. (you may hear the roar of the engines)
- Excellent local dining, coffee, and live music
- World-class golf nearby (including Kohler)
- Easy drive from Milwaukee (~1 hour) and Chicago (~2.5 hours)
Every season has its rhythm
- Summer: swimming, paddling, live music, farmers markets
- Fall: hiking, lake reflections, fires, and quiet evenings
Winter: ice skating, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cozy indoor game nights
Spring: fishing, wildlife, peaceful mornings before the summer buzz
The finished basement game room stays warm and inviting year-round, perfect for ping pong and rainy-day downtime.
Important to know (please read)
This home is best suited for guests who:
- Appreciate historic character and antiques
- Are comfortable sharing space with family or close friends
- Respect a carefully maintained property
This is a pet-free, smoke-free home and is intentionally not a modern luxury build. Wi-Fi is available via satellite and works well for everyday use, but this is a place where people tend to unplug and reconnect.
If that sounds like your group, you’ll likely understand why guests come back again and again.
Disclosures:
- Guests are required to sign a rental agreement and set up a deposit for all stays.
- Dock is NOT suitable for tying off a boat.
- Outdoor amenities like Dock/Kayaks/Standup Paddle Boards are seasonal and may not be available in the Fall/Winter/Spring past October 1st or prior to May 21st. Please inquire.
