Historic, fully furnished 1926 log cabin fully renovated with modern appliances on 10 acres fronting beautiful Lake Thorpe. Gated and secluded private property. You can enjoy fishing off your own dock or get out of the sun in the attached, furnished boathouse with A/C. Relax paddling around the quiet like in the boat provided or read a book under the canopy of trees throughout the private property. Additional amenities include full size washer, dryer, fully equipped kitchen, wood burning fire place, Wi-Fi and expanded cable TV package. Finally, enjoy cook outs using the gas grill on wooden deck with patio furniture. Enjoy the Florida winter and spring in privacy and comfort. This property combines the best of worlds - complete privacy and natural beauty and with close proximity to fun restaurants, nature trails, and top tourist attractions.

Nearby attractions include Downtown Tampa, The Tampa Riverwalk, Channelside District, Ybor City, Tampa International airport, Citrus Park Mall, Tarpon Springs, George Steinbrenner Field for Yankees Spring Training, saltwater fishing in Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, Busch Gardens, Sea World, the Disney properties, Tampa Bay Lightning Arena, numerous golf courses, trap and skeet shooting at Silver Dollar and Sporting Clays of Tampa Bay, and great local restaurants.

Enjoyed the property. A few upgrades wouldn't hurt, but everything you need is here. The peace and quiet and space were great. The cows were fun to have as neighbors. Carina is very personable and helpful.

Traditional Cabin on a Lake

Saying great things about our experience at the Charming Cabin on the lake in Odessa FL is so easy…. It was not the usual Florida get away vacation, not a beach, not sand but boy did we enjoy it to the fullest. This unique accommodation is relaxing and restoring! It is located in what feels like a rural setting but minutes from all the usual suburb retail and services, for your convenience. You’ll find just about everything you need or didn’t even think about wanting in this traditional rustic cabin, even right down to the well water odour that we acclimated to quickly. Our host Carina, was the best and so attentive! The outdoors are so full of Florida’s natural entertainment with many birds, bunnies, squirrels, butterflies, lizards even a family of deer dropped by one morning as we enjoyed the large covered porch. The lake offers fishing from the dock which was a hit and for my hubby there was lots of golfing nearby too. However the stars of the cabin on the lake property are by far the Host family’s cows, our family fell in love with them immediately and enjoyed interacting with them everyday. They all have unique personalities and by the end of our 39 day stay, they were our cows too! We already miss Red, Daisy, Bibi and especially Sammy. :(

Unbelievable Stay

Was located in a very nice area! Wonderful things to do and close to several locations. Boat house was great! Cattle was fun and enjoyable! Host was fantastic very pleasant and friendly!

A real jewel

Everything we hoped for and more. Beautiful property on a quiet private lake. Cozy cabin, loved the boathouse and the cows. Close to shopping and only a short drive to many Florida attractions. Only wished that we could have stayed longer. Thanks Carina for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful Cabin!

We stayed for the entire month of February 2024. The cabin and lake were the perfect get-a-way from winter. We really enjoyed the property, especially the resident cows who greet you as you come and go and are happy to get a treat whenever you will provide one! Carina is a great host - I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a rural setting that is very close to all Florida has to offer.

Great place

Florida Ranch

Relaxing spacious cabin away from the crowds and a short drive to the beach and fun spots. Sit on the huge front porch and look at the trees, lake and wildlife (and a couple cows). Stores and golf nearby.

Canoe paddles

Upon arrival, first thing husband did was check out the lake. Rented this specifically so he could fish. The boat had no oars and were told use canoe paddles. No way can you maneuver a boat with canoe paddles! She then stated we could use the kayak however the seat in kayak was completely rotten out so couldn’t possibly use. Then I went inside to use restroom and the water from sink smelled awful. Asked husband to come inside thinking it was just me. He almost vomited from the smell. No way could we use water for drinking, doing dishes or bathing. Finally after contacting vrbo received a full refund, though at this time was very difficult to locate another rental for a months stay. Fortunately we we did locate another vrbo rental and could continue our additional month in Florida.

Everything was wonderful. The cabin was as expected. The property was more than expected. Beautiful. Heavenly. The moss on the trees. The sun glinting on the lake. The welcome home moos from the cows. On top of that it was centrally located to do day trips to many different activities. Hoping to return!!! P.s. Owner was so wonderful.

Serene Wooded Lake Experience

This quaint cabin and lovely wooded, lakeside property provided the perfect respite for my husband and I and our four cats as our home was being renovated. The large acreage, tall oaks and calming lake view provide a uniquely charming "old Florida" experience. We fell in love with the two resident cows on the property and enjoyed the native wildlife including owls, hawks, wild turkeys, bunnies and my husband even saw an otter in the lake. The air conditioned boathouse served as the perfect, peaceful office for my husband who works remotely. The little office area in the cabin worked perfectly for me. The cabin is cozy, relaxing and welcoming full of positive energy. Floor to ceiling heart pine, a large stone fireplace, and skylights provide it with a warm, inviting charm. Carina was a gracious host who was always easily accessible, accommodating and attentive while still providing us with privacy throughout our stay. Thank you Carina for sharing your warm family property and story with us! If you are looking for a natural, beautiful "old Florida" setting to unwind from the hectic pace of everyday life, this cute cabin on the lake among the oaks provides everything you are looking for and more!

Relaxing Tampa area getaway

We needed a place to stay with our dog for a few months after selling our house and the cabin was ideal. Truly a beautiful and relaxing getaway in the midst of the Tampa metro area. Those who enjoy wildlife will be treated by views of great horned owls and hawks, and a variety of birds. And the boat house was an amazing place to relax and enjoy the views.

A Very Pleasant Vacation Spot

A nice quiet retreat. A peaceful walk in the morning on the "back five" with my dog. Relaxing on the porch. The cows on the property were a delight! In the country but close to everything. No more than an hours drive to anything in the Tampa area.

Perfect Paradise

My husband and I travel for his job and had the pleasure of residing at this beautiful property during a 3 month work assignment. First let me say that if there was a way to pack up this charming and perfect property and carry it along with us on our travels, we would surely do so. The location was wonderful! The cabin itself is private and was perfectly furnished with rustic and antique pieces that gave it an authentic feel of its historical background while still providing modern conveniences and necessities needed for the duration of our stay. Being nature lovers we had the opportunity to see many different species of wildlife from our front porch. The boathouse was nicely furnished and equipped with everything you might need to enjoy a relaxing day of fishing from its dock or a pleasant row on the lake waters in the provided boat. Carina was the most accommodating and gracious host that we have met since we began traveling two years ago. She made the quality of our stay a priority throughout its entirety. I have, and will continue, to recommend this piece of perfect paradise to anyone I may know who will be staying in the area. Oh and if by chance he is still around, be sure to feed the residential stray cat who we so lovingly named "Alexander". He is a sweetie and will lend a paw to make you feel right at home.

Wonderful Hideaway Vacation Spot

What a wonderful time we had for the month of March, 2018| The cabin was decorated in such a chaming, country style. Everything you need is there. The bedding is extra comfy and the kitchen is well supplied . The boat house has all your fishing needs as well as a nice deck to just enjoy the lake. There are plenty of hiking areas and other lakes nearby and a short distance to quaint places such as Tarpon Springs, Ybor City, Dunedin and of course, downtown Tampa. The owner, Carina, couldn't be nicer and very helpful. Don't forget to bbq on the gas grill and rock on the front porch! We hope to return soon.

Great vacation

The cabin and property was as described! We had a great time. Good and great golf within 10 minutes. Lake is nice size with nice sized fish. We've booked it again for 2017.

Charming log cabin.

Very nicely decorated older log cabin with lots of country charm. Private and secluded yet many stores within a couple of miles. Handy to the coast or Tampa. Really nice golf courses within 2 to 5 miles. Lots of wild life besides the cows that reside on the property. Many different birds, raccoons, possum, and the turtles in the lake. None that caused any problems. Did not see any snakes or alligators (except on the golf course). Great place to get away from it all and relax!

Perfect getaway

perfect location for people who just want to relax and get away from it all. No other homes in the area. The cabin is decorated so uniquely, and cozy. If you like to fish, the boathouse and the dock are perfect for catching bass,bluegill,and crappie. Largest bass I caught was 9 lbs. The huge old oak trees are so much like Florida, with all the moss hanging down. The weather was fantastic-75-80. We enjoyed every minute! I would highly recommend this truly relaxing getaway! The owner, Carina, was so gracious.
