Visit the nearby fishing harbour with information centre or relax on the beach of the Lauwersmeer lake. It is a small village and starting point for mudflat walks, which is also home to the famous seal breeding centre. The harbour of Zoutkamp and the town of Dokkum are also very worthwhile excursion destinations. On the way there, you will pass extensive meadows and traditional farms. During your holiday, be sure to visit Schiermonnikoog, a characteristic Wadden island with a varied landscape, beaches, dunes, forests and wetlands.
