A mountain farmhouse five minutes from Valle Crucis, with a six-person hot tub, a fire pit patio facing the view, and an upstairs arcade with Skeeball, Pac-Man, and Golden Tee. Themed bedrooms, two dining areas that seat twelve, and room for the dogs to roam. Sleeps eight — fifteen minutes to Boone, twenty to Banner Elk, and quiet the whole way home.

This is a farmhouse that took the fun seriously. Classic warmth downstairs — vaulted ceilings, a large gas fireplace, a 75-inch TV, and seating built for movie nights and football weekends. A full arcade upstairs. Somewhere in between, everyone finds their spot.

Main level — The primary suite: king bed, double-vanity bath, themed around the hunting dogs of the High Country. Off the main living area is a dedicated office and flex room with a desk, a pullout sofa, and a stock of children`s toys and books — it works equally well for a remote workday or a quiet corner for the Pack `N Play. The kitchen has been fully updated with new appliances, and it`s stocked the way guests keep telling us kitchens should be: an espresso machine with espresso supplied, Keurig and drip options, spices, baking sheets, and real cookware. Two dining areas seat twelve between them. Off the kitchen, a laundry room with connected half bath opens straight to the deck and hot tub — so the walk from a soak to a warm towel is about ten steps.

Upper level — Two more themed bedrooms: a king room built around the three trout you`ll actually find in local waters — brook, brown, and rainbow — and a double-queen room decorated with the original blueprints of the house. Then the entertainment zone: Skeeball, a Pac-Man arcade, a racing arcade, Golden Tee with bowling, and a popcorn maker. Fair warning — the kids will not be the only ones up here.

Every bedroom has its own stand-up AC unit, plus one in the living room, so the house stays comfortable in every season.

THE OUTDOORS

The deck is set up for slow mornings — rockers, coffee, and the view doing most of the work. Evenings move to the fire pit patio overlooking the mountains, or into the six-person hot tub. Ambient lighting on the deck and patio, a new BBQ grill, and plenty of outdoor seating carry the night as long as you want it to go.

Dogs are genuinely welcome here, not just tolerated — there`s a doggy gate on the deck and room outside to roam.

Leaf season is the reason to be in this valley. Color runs late September through the third week of October, Valle Crucis sits five minutes away at peak, and the fire pit earns its keep every single night. These weeks book first — plan ahead.

THE LOCATION

Sugar Grove gives you the quiet valley setting, with everything reachable:

Valle Crucis — 5 min. Boone — 15 min. Banner Elk — 20 min. Appalachian Ski Mountain — 25 min. Blowing Rock — 25 to 30 min. Sugar Mountain — 30 min. Beech Mountain — about 30 min.

Hiking, fly fishing, and river tubing are all close; the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis is the mandatory first stop.

GETTING AROUND & THINGS TO KNOW

Parking for four vehicles. The driveway is gravel and steep — AWD or 4WD is strongly recommended year-round and required in winter weather. Mountain roads and weather can stretch drive times, and we`d rather over-prepare you.

Dogs: welcome with a $100 pet fee per dog and a completed pet questionnaire.
