The Space:

Prepare for river fun in this bright condo, perfectly set up for a couple or small family! The shared deck is a great place to enjoy the fresh air, watch the boats pass by on the Kalamazoo River, and meet new friends on their own adventures. After a long day, it's easy to store leftovers or prep a simple late-night snack in the kitchenette. Not to mention, each dreamy day can end on a good note with a favorite movie on the flatscreen TV! What's nearby: Guests will love the easy accessibility of most places in this area! Drive less than a mile over to Oval Beach or walk there on the Mt. Baldhead Park Trail. Hitch a ride across the river on the Saugatuck Chain Ferry (the last hand-cranked ferry in the United States) at the stop just 500 feet away. Saugatuck Dune Rides (just over four miles from the condo) can help guests ride out to see a whole other side of the region! Things to know: The chain ferry runs Memorial Day-Labor Day Kitchenette (mini fridge) Street Parking.

We loved the room and the location. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the boats come down the Kalamazoo. The neighbors on the balcony can get a little loud at night. My only issue was not having a guaranteed parking spot. Will definitely be coming back next year!

I absolutely loved everything about our stay at the Waterside suites. The room was just as described. It was at a perfect location. I will definitely be coming back every year. The only thing that I was concerned about was the parking. There needs to be assigned parking for the unit that you are staying at.

This place is so cute! However, parking is an issue,as this unit doesn't have an " assigned" spot. We finally got a spot, and then never went anywhere in the car, do we didn't lose it! Luckily, the chain ferry is just steps away,and we used that to cross the river into Saugatuck proper. There is a coffee maker, but not a Keurig. The shared deck is bigger than it looks in the pix, and is really nice for watching the boats go by on the Kalamazoo.

A really nice studio condo on the river. I enjoyed the music and boat parades everyday. The refrigerator needed to be replaced which was done the next day. The condo manager was friendly and did his best to explain how to “finagle” a sticky lock. I finally caught on! The only real issue was parking but I crossed on the Chain Fairy a lot so as not to lose my parking space. It was probably easier that way than parking in Saugatuck anyway. It was quite nice. Give it a try.

We really enjoyed the view from the patio, appreciated the cleanliness of the unit and the comfortable bed. Although I knew we were across the river from the restaurants and shopping, I was under the impression we could just hop on the chain ferry which was literally steps away. However, the ferry shuts down after Labor Day so we arranged to be picked up via bus. This was a small hiccup/blessing since the bus drivers gave us recommendations on a variety of restaurants and activities. We were surprised that even though a coffee maker was provided, coffee was not. I was thankful that I did pack my own but wish I had picked up a few groceries for breakfast since we had to rely on the bus for travel to the restaurants (we could have driven but were concerned about parking availability). No information in the form of pamphlets or city map was provided in the unit so we had to investigate on our own. If we had taken the cruise on the day of arrival we would have been given valuable information for the area as well as having access to handouts pertaining to Saugatuck.

The condo was very well-maintained, very clean, and a comfortable size for our 5-night stay in September. We walked to the Mount Baldhead trail, and then on to Oval Beach, from the condo. We drove to downtown Saugatuck every day for dinner and shopping on our second day. We also booked the Saugatuck Dune Rides; this was a lot of fun but note they do go fast in some sections but make frequent stops for history and local info so we really enjoyed it. This location is also great for day trips to Grand Haven MI, Indiana Dunes National Park and Notre Dame University (note that the NP is in Central time zone but ND is in Eastern). Communication with the local host was excellent and very helpful. The off-shore reps were frustrating, so I recommend getting the local contact and you shouldn’t have any issues. Saugatuck is absolutely gorgeous and worth the visit. Being on the water (although on the other side of the river from downtown) had such a wonderful view. If you arrive after dark like we did, be careful there are some steps along the road/parking spaces and not a lot of lighting but you can still see to get to the correct condo door you need. Overall we highly recommend this condo!
