Unwind. Relax. Be. Play. Read. Swim. Hike.
Our approximately 200-year-old half-timbered house, lovingly restored and located in the Elbtalaue landscape conservation area, is a special place: The ballroom of the former “Alte Linde” inn now serves as a spacious kitchen-diner with a fireplace, inviting guests to enjoy cozy get-togethers. The 5 bedrooms, with their country-house charm, are surrounded by a very large garden with plenty of space to play (trampoline, sandbox) and relax (fire pit; grill). Behind it lie the river, forest, and lake.
Take a “tour” of the house (see floor plans under Photos):
The “Alte Linde” can accommodate families and friends of up to 12 people (including 2 babies). You’ll find a lovingly furnished, cozy farmhouse with a charm all its own: high wooden ceilings upstairs, the large ballroom downstairs, and rustic chic. Everywhere you look, there are lovely spots for guests of all ages to relax.
The heart of the house is just to the right as you enter: the former dance hall on the first floor. Here you’ll find the kitchen with everything you need, a long table for large, lively gatherings, a sofa nook with a piano, and the fireplace… From this living room, you step directly into the garden with outdoor furniture.
If you turn left from the hallway, you’ll find another living room with a spacious sofa in the old dining room. Part of this “reading room”—hidden behind exposed half-timbered beams—is a 1.40-meter-wide bed.
The hallway also leads to a large bathroom with two sinks. The bathtub is located where the old cooking area (hearth) used to be. A door from the “blue” bedroom—which features a canopy bed and a crib—also opens into this bathroom; this bedroom has a direct connecting door to the reading room.
After climbing the old (slightly steeper) wooden staircase to the upper floor, you’ll reach three additional bedrooms via a bright gallery with a play area (1st with a double and a single bed, 2nd with two single beds, 3rd with a cozy sleeper sofa). There’s also a bathroom with a shower upstairs.
Not only is the house beautiful, but so is the natural garden with its mature trees. You can access the garden directly from the kitchen-diner and from the bathroom. It is completely fenced in, so children and dogs can run around freely.
Location:
The “Alte Linde” is situated in a very quiet spot in the center of town. There’s one immediate neighbor, and otherwise the road—which sees very little traffic—belongs to the village of 40 residents. Our house borders directly on the forest, where you can take lovely walks, and it’s very close to the Löcknitz River, where nature lovers can enjoy wonderful swimming and beautiful walks. A spot on the Löcknitz that we use as a (natural) swimming area is about a 5-minute walk away, right next to the bridge.
A bus (PlusBus Prignitzer Elbtalaue No. 944) is within walking distance, but you can actually walk directly and easily to Lenzen through the woods in 15 minutes, or get there even faster by bike if you bring one. Bikes can be stored in our shed.
There you’ll find restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, banks, bike rentals, and a pharmacy. There’s also a riding stable nearby.
Things to do near the accommodation:
The Elbtalaue Landscape Conservation Area is known for its beautiful scenery and offers a variety of activities—swimming, biking, canoeing, horseback riding, and countless ways to explore nature.
Right from the Linde, you can set out on wonderful hikes through the woods, along the romantic Löcknitz River, or all the way to the Elbe.
Just a few minutes’ walk from our house is the romantic little Löcknitz River, where you can swim at natural swimming spots, or you can bike to nearby Rudower Lake for a swim. Along the way, you can see white-tailed eagles circling and spot storks or beavers.
The region is also exceptionally beautiful for bike rides along the Elbe; canoeing is available, as are horse-drawn carriage rides. Nearby horse farms offer various activities, and NABU in Lenzen has a great selection of excursions for all ages.
As our guests, you’ll find a local visitor information center with interesting excursion tips and, of course, practical information.
