Secluded home with amazing mountain & lake views, deck, fireplace, & WiFi

Reserve your stay on the second floor of this cabin whose deck overlooks the nearby lake and mountains! This secluded home features rich furnishings and high-end appliances, as well as plenty of natural light. The magnificent stone hearth is home to a wood fireplace, keeping everybody cozy after a day of skiing.

While you may feel secluded up in the mountains here, Durango's dining and entertainment is only a few miles away. Purgatory's ski slopes are an easy day trip, so this cabin makes a great home base for winter sports. The trailhead for the Colorado Trail is just a mile away, so pack your hiking boots.

Natural light floods the beautifully furnished living room, and a full kitchen sets the scene for meals in. The dining table seats six, and four more can sit at the breakfast bar. Up to six guests can stay in this beautifully outfitted cabin, and four can sleep comfortably in the two bedrooms. This rental is a part of a larger home that can be reserved all together for bigger groups, just contact us for more information.

A private washer and dryer are provided for all your laundry needs. Free WiFi keeps you connected, but don't spend too much time working! Heads up: 4x4 driving may be required here during the winter.

We had such a great time during Memorial Day weekend. The location is fantastic, and even though Durango is just a few minutes away you would never know it in this peaceful valley. Sitting on the porch with a family, watching the evening sun go down while deer wander across the area, is a perfect way to relax and setting in for a long weekend. I highly recommend the home for short or long stays.

Lovely property, great location and beautiful views. The house is a cool log cabin. Its decor and linens are pretty tired and could use a refresh, but we were very happy and comfortable.

Beautiful views and good location including baby foxes and deer in the yard. Some issues with bugs getting in from lack of seal around portable AC vent and old screens. The furniture and mattresses were worn out. Could have been cleaner, but by no means gross. The sofa, throw pillows, and chairs felt old and not the cleanest. Washer was broken which they knew before we checked in and offered to fix but should have been fixed in advance. Still had some Christmas decor out. Also charged for late check out which felt a bit like a money grab. I like it better dealing with an owner than a company personally. Beautiful property but could be better maintained.

Beautiful cabin on a lake

I am a Durango regular and love this part of town. Hiking and biking nearby and a lovely drive to town. This home had everything we needed and was great for an October week with nice cool nights for sleeping

The view is beautiful, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen is large and while we didn’t cook it would have accommodated cooking very well. The water pressure for showers was also very good. There is a great wrap around deck with a beautiful view of a private lake.

Outstanding property and hosts!

I can’t say enough great things about this property. Every amenity that you could think of is here. Kitchenwares, spices, sleds, extra blankets, etc., etc. The location is close enough to town that it’s easy to get around but remote enough to feel like you’re “away”. Beautiful views, gorgeous home. Highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again.

Just a few minutes outside of town so it’s easy to get to. The view is spectacular both day and night. Stars and wildlife. Wrap around porch perfect for morning coffee. Very clean and fully stocked kitchen for cooking. Highly recommend.

Our overall impression is, simply, Wow!

Our group of four adults loved this house. It felt like a real vacation for us - only a few miles from town, it is a serene and beautiful retreat. Great view of the lake! The house was very clean and wonderfully designed for easy interactions. Loved it. Will be hard to leave.

Definitely hope to stay her again

We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely stay here if we are in Durango again. The place is close enough to town to go in and enjoy the area, but it is far out enough to let one enjoy the peace and beauty of the mountains and night skies. The views from the deck are incredible. Deer in the yard each morning. The house is welcoming, very comfortable, and well stocked. Had everything anyone could need.

Beautiful home that needs some attention

The house and property itself is lovely. It is well-equipped and the views are gorgeous. That being said, the maintenance could use some work. The master bathroom shower did not drain well, the ceiling had some little bugs all over it (some dead, some alive), and the guest mattress was awful. It sunk to the middle and needs to be replaced. All that said, the place itself couldn’t be nicer and we would consider staying here again if in the area.

Secluded but Close to Everything

My partner Matthew and I, Joseph, stayed in this home with my sister for an Autumn getaway. We all enjoyed the home very much. We were able to easily cook meals in the very well equipped kitchen, the bedrooms were clean, inviting, and comfortable. The dining area overlooks a lake that sparkles all day long. The decks were peaceful and we almost always saw wildlife while relaxing outdoors. It feels very secluded and peaceful, yet so close to town. Great location. The whole experience start to finish was very nice and we would absolutely stay in this home again.

The stars…

Property is great, house was very clean and well maintained except the mattresses are terrible and need to be replaced. The water softener needed maintenance and was constantly beeping. Fixe those two things and you have a wonderful place to stay.

Nice property and location

.No problems. Nice property and location. It could have been a little cleaner. The dishes and silverware did not seem clean, like they had been washed without soap in the dishwasher. We had to re-wash them before use. Floors were swept but not washed.

Great place. Plenty of problems with entry, broken window closers, warped windows (allowed wasps to enter!!!!!!). Entry code did not work. Pass key lock box was closed with the correct code so I just pressed the button down and there was the key. I am sure the owner would not be happy with that information. Anyone could have walked in. Thermostats not working and house quite cold at night. Called Vantaca and they reported it, I received a call from service tech and said they would be out next day and both the unlock code and thermostats. Never came.

Would Love to own this Property. The size is perfect. Thank you. I Loved the primary shower pressure, but the drain does not keep up with the amount. Drain clearing maintenance may be needed before next company. We turned water off frequently while showering. I tried to tighten the toilet seat on the primary toilet at the end of our visit as it was a bit loose/crooked, one side bolt seemed stripped, could not secure.

Loved the home, view and location

Some issues were: coffee maker didn’t work and we called but no one came. Important because a place to get coffee was not around the corner and we wasted time trying to address it. Toilet seat in hall bathroom needs repair. Could use a hairdryer. Couldn’t get TV in bedroom to show more than one channel and we could not find the trash barrels. A set of instructions for the house would be invaluable!

We appreciate this feedback. The coffee maker has since been replaced with a brand new model; there is both a regular drip style coffee maker and a Keurig coffee machine. Many smaller repairs, such as tightening the toilet seat lids and towel bars, have since taken place. The homeowners are purchasing hairdryers for each bathroom. Instructions for the TV, which runs off a cable box in the living room, are being printed out for guest satisfaction.
