Peaceful retreat in the woods

Reconnect with nature in our tranquil guesthouse nestled in the woods of Loch Raven Reservoir, just 20 minutes from Baltimore and an easy drive or train from DC. Forest bathe, slow down, walk or bike nearby trails, visit farm breweries, and more — all with major conveniences close by. Whether you’re looking for a place to recharge, have a relaxing weekend with family, whisk away with your significant other, or have a memorable gathering with friends or colleagues, this is the perfect place.

Our guesthouse is located up a hill in a hollow carved by streams flowing into Loch Raven. Surrounded by the woods, your closest neighbors will be the birds, deer, foxes, flowers, mushrooms, and other wild things!

Rest well in one of the medium-firm beds. Greet the morning sun through large east-facing windows. Cook your favorite dishes in the kitchen stocked with necessities. Relax in either of two living rooms. Access the internet with our fast wi-fi connection or catch up on that show with the smart TV. Get some work done (if you have to) at one of the desks or tables. Enjoy a rain shower to start or end the day. Or step outside, soak in the forest and birdsong, and gather around the firepit as the sun drops behind the hill.

We strive for a clean, healthy, and environmentally friendly home. The products used in the house reflect this.

Other details to note:
We are stewarding and restoring the forest by maintaining tree health and growing beneficial plants. The guesthouse is truly in nature, so you may meet various animals, pollinators, spiders, and other things we share creation with. We have insect repellent available. We also intentionally haven’t sprayed our lawn and flower beds. Please don’t leave any food or garbage bags outside unsecured.

Mobility information: from the driveway, there is a flight of steps up to the main floor of the house. The main floor includes the bedrooms, the primary bath, the kitchen, and the primary living room and has no steps, though there is a threshold to enter the shower (which has a bench inside). The lower level includes the second bathroom, second living room, and laundry room. Patio seating and firepit are about a half flight of steps or more, depending on where you are starting from. Guardrails are available at all steps.

Age requirement: reserving guest must be at least 21 years of age.

Please note: It is not unusual for the electricity to go out during strong storms; please prepare accordingly. We are unable to offer any refunds for power outages lasting less than 24 hours.

For reservations longer than 7 days, we offer an additional cleaning once per week for a discounted fee, with sufficient advance notice.

Guest access:
You will have this house all to yourselves while you stay. There are a couple extra rooms in the house not available for guest use; they will be well-marked and/or locked.

A code to the keypad door lock will be provided 24-48 hours before your check in.

June 2026 update: we did some landscaping work, and portions of the outside surrounding the house are currently covered in straw to help the soil and plant life recover.
