Steeped in history, the Gîte des Trauchandieres, completely renovated and equipped with all modern comfort : washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, large screen TV, Netflix, toys and games for young and old (trampoline, swing, ping-pong, badmington, large lawn with football goals, etc.) is located 2miles from Valion beach and 7miles from the port of Saint Malo. (ferries to Portsmouth, Poole and Channel Islands)
It is the original Trauchandieres manor where Jehanne Cartier, Jacques Cartier's sister is said to have lived and against which Guillaume La Perche des Trauchandieres who commanded the frigate "La Glorieuse" in Duguay Trouin's expedition which besieged Rio de Janeiro in 1711 built its Malouinière in 1714.
About one hundred Malouinières were built between 1680 and 1730 in the “Clos Poulet” (inland of Saint Malo) by corsairs and shipowners. Residing in the Gite des Trauchandières, you will be invited to a private tour of the Malouinière (in your language, as we are English speakers)
