Welcome to Altstadtquartier 16, the spacious group accommodation by Bacchus Holiday Homes in the heart of Bacharach’s historic Old Town.
The full apartment combines two connected living areas and accommodates families, groups of friends, hiking groups, clubs, retreats and shared weekend stays of up to 16 guests. Your group stays together under one roof instead of being split between several hotel rooms or separate holiday apartments.
24/7 service in the same building
A special feature is the Bacchus Traveller Hub Bacharach on the ground floor of the same building. This 24-hour self-service area offers chilled drinks, snacks, selected travel essentials, and digital information and inspiration for Bacharach and the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
The Traveller Hub is shared and open to the public and is not an exclusive part of the apartment. For our guests, however, it provides convenient supplies and travel information directly in the building, including outside normal shop opening hours.
Layout and amenities
Altstadtquartier 16 extends over several levels and offers:
– several separate bedrooms
– two open sleeping galleries
– two bathrooms
– a separate toilet
– a fully equipped kitchen
– spacious living and communal areas
– a covered balcony
– views towards Stahleck Castle
– fast Wi-Fi
– accommodation for up to 16 guests
The different bedrooms, levels and communal areas allow the group to live, dine and plan activities together while still providing places to retreat and enjoy some privacy.
Transparent sleeping arrangements
Up to twelve guests sleep in regular beds. Two additional sofa beds are available for guests 13 to 16.
The open sleeping galleries form part of the regular sleeping areas and are reached via steep wooden stairs. They are therefore only partly suitable for small children and guests with limited mobility.
Balcony and castle views
The covered balcony is a special place for breakfast together, planning the day or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. From the sleeping areas and the balcony, guests can look across Bacharach’s Old Town towards Stahleck Castle.
Historic Old Town location
Access is via one of Bacharach’s narrow historic lanes and then through the shared stairwell of the half-timbered house. This type of access is typical of the medieval Old Town and forms part of the property’s special character.
The Rhine promenade, train station, boat landing, restaurants, wine taverns, bakery and hiking trails are all within easy walking distance. Due to the historic Old Town location, there is no private parking space directly at the property.
Bacharach as a base for groups
From Altstadtquartier 16, guests can explore the Rhine, castles, wine villages, hiking trails and river cruises from one fixed location.
The RheinBurgenWeg hiking trail, Stahleck Castle and the Rhine promenade are located directly in or close to Bacharach. Day trips to the Loreley, Kaub, Oberwesel, St. Goar, Bingen, Rüdesheim, Boppard and Koblenz are also possible by train, boat or car.
Digital travel planning
Guests also have access to the Middle Rhine Explorer and our free Middle Rhine AI Concierge. These services help groups coordinate hikes, castle visits, wine experiences, restaurants, river cruises and day trips more efficiently.
Altstadtquartier 16 is particularly suitable for:
– large families and groups of friends
– hiking and active-travel groups
– wine weekends
– clubs and smaller retreats
– shared stays for up to 16 guests
– groups who want to stay together while still having access to private spaces
Important: This listing includes the entire Altstadtquartier 16 with both connected living areas. The Bacchus Traveller Hub on the ground floor is shared and open to the public and is not an exclusive part of the booked accommodation.
