FLAT #4, Eddy - Lafayette Flats Boutique Vacation Rentals is four modern vacation rentals in one historic building. This listing is for Flat #4, Eddy which is found on the third floor. Walk up the 42 stairs through the airy art-filled stairwell to reach your beautiful flat (please note: there is no elevator in this historic building). Eddy is designed to luxuriously accommodate two adults, as are all four vacation rentals at Lafayette Flats.

BEDROOM ā€“ Have a relaxing nightā€™s sleep on the medium/firm queen-size hybrid mattress with 100% cotton sheets, four pillows (two flat and two fluffy), and an alternative down all-season duvet with a cotton duvet cover. Room-darkening blinds and curtains provide privacy. Electric and USB outlets are conveniently located on both bedside tables to keep your phone close by while you both recharge after an adventurous day.

BATHROOM ā€“Each vacation rental at Lafayette Flats has its own hot water tank, so you can take a long shower in Eddyā€™s large, tiled shower. Enjoy William Roam hand soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and bar soap (all sulfate & paraben fee). A makeup mirror, hair dryer and 100% cotton bath towels and linens are provided to ensure you look and feel your best.

LIVING SPACE ā€“ Enjoy the abundant natural light streaming through Eddyā€™s many windows. The comfortable living area has a desk, sofa, table, lamps and smart TV. Dine at the kitchen table.

KITCHEN ā€“ Prepare simple or complex meals in the small but fully functional kitchen with all utensils and wares provided, including a refrigerator, electric range stove and oven, toaster, and microwave. Fiestaware table settings and glassware are provided as are salt, pepper, and olive oil. Enjoy filtered water from the Brita pitcher in your refrigerator.

COFFEE & TEA SERVICE ā€“ Savor the flavor of locally-roasted coffee provided exclusively to Lafayette Flats guests in the 12 cup Cuisinart coffee maker or French press. A kettle and assortment of gourmet teas and tisanes as well as creamer, sugar and Truvia are also provided.

MEDIA & DATA ā€“ With 500+ mbps Wi-Fi, you can work remotely or relax while streaming Netflix on the complimentary account. Enjoy your favorite music on the Bluetooth speaker.

Our stay at Lafayette Flats was great! Amy and Shawn were wonderful hosts. They sent us all the info we needed before check-in and followed up on us during the trip to make sure things were going well and if we needed anything. The flat itself was adorable, clean, and full of little nice touches. We really appreciated the Bridge Day pamphlets and the little welcome gift waiting for us when we arrived. So thoughtful! They even had books about New River Gorge and Fayetteville- including their own book about Lafayette Flats- which added a fun local touch. Check-in and check-out were simple and stress-free. Weā€™d definitely stay here again next time weā€™re in the area!

We were visiting family in Fayetteville and stayed at the Fayetteville Flats. The apartment was large and comfortable and we walked down to The Station for a drink before calling it a night. We'll stay here again the next time we're in town.

Perfect VRBO

This property was absolutely perfect! Nestled in Fayetteville with bars, restaurants and nature all just steps away. The property itself was METICULOUS! Not a single speck of dirt anywhere, including hallways and common areas. It was extremely well appointed-down to extra batteries for remote controls if needed! We were there for a very short trip and cannot wait to come back and stay again. There are 4 units in the building, so it would be perfect for a friend or sibling/family trip! Hosts were flexible and accommodating! They provided a wealth of information on the surrounding areas and restaurants. It was absolutely perfect! Well done Amy and Shawn!

Perfect getaway

The flat was immaculate and exactly as described. The town is cute and the flat is within walking distance of several local eateries. Very close to the park and outdoor activities. Communication with the proprietor was easy and they provide good tips and resources for the area, including an especially good reference on area hikes. Highly recommend the Eddy as a base for your getaway in this beautiful region. If we visit again weā€™d stay here again without question!

We really enjoyed our stay at Lafayette Flats. Everything was perfect. The apartment was so nice and clean and comfortable. Communication and instructions for check-in were thorough. Great Accomodation

I loved the place, it's just been renovated a year ago. Amy and Shawn have wonderfully decorated the place and we loved staying there. It is in the heart of the Coolest Small town, Fayetteville. Walkable to all the good restaurants and a small drive to rafting companies and the bridge. Me and friends really loved the place and our stay over there, Shawn and Amy have good suggestions for restaurants and places to look around. They created a pretty booklet to find about the locality,trails and locations around. I am definitely going back to their place when visiting.

Loved the flat, only 1 issue that brought my rating down.

Such a beautiful and comfortable flat in a quaint little town. The only problem for me was the loud HVAC system. The air conditioner vent which is located right by the head of the bed was very loud. Other than that it was perfect. Appreciate the cleanliness as well.

Historically renovated apartment

Perfect. Kelly and I throughly enjoyed our stay at your lovely apartment. The art and accoutrements were stunning. We enjoyed reading the history of the building and your journey to acquire it. I was impressed with the quality of the restoration, keeping the historic touches throughout. Not everyone would have gone to the extra trouble and expense. We hiked both of your suggested trails. Our morning hike on Endless Wall was lovely; the views were stunning! We then stopped at the bridge and walked out to the observation deck (oh those stairs!) Our afternoon walk on Long Point was interrupted by a thunderstorm breaking out just after we reached the point. No matter, the forest canopy protected us from direct assault, tho we were thoroughly drenched by the time we reached the parking lot! We sampled a wonderful garlic/onion white pie at pies and pints on our first night, and ate the rest for lunch. Excellent. Beds were great and Bluetooth speaker was a nice touch. We were able to have dinner music. Kelly is a trained chef and decided to make her famous shrimp and grits creole dish. In doing so, we discovered that the kitchen is somewhat ā€œlighting challenged.ā€ Perhaps a small under counter light could help... We also discovered that the can opener was bent and would no longer grasp the can lip. Should be replaced. Finally, the spray cleaner (under the sink) is nearly empty. A glowing 5-stars. We will highly recommend Lafayette Flats to our friends. Fayetteville is indeed one of the coolest small towns weā€™ve experienced! Thank you again for being there for us. Bonne chance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this funky, beautiful apartment. The apartment is like a work of stage art and thoughtfully furnished. The space is immaculate the owners great communicators. The shower is one of the best I've ever experienced. The location is perfect for visiting the New River Gorge but having easy access to a number of excellent restaurants and shops. You won't want to leave!

Clean & Welcoming

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at the Lafayette Flats. The apartment is clean and the host makes sure you are comfortable. Perfect for one or two people. The location is great because you can walk to all the shops and restaurants. I enjoyed walking to the park and adjoining trails each morning.

Lovely and welcoming

We stayed at the Lafayette flats as a base for rock climbing at the New. Was great in every way - walking to restaurants and across the street from the local climbing shop! The flats are beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

Lafayette Flats - beautiful

We stayed in the Eddy! What a beautiful, clean and comfortable place to relax after a day of hiking. The art work is lovely and we enjoyed reading about each piece. We have stayed in a lot of Vrboā€™s and this is definitely the top one. Thanks to our wonderful hosts.

What a great getaway!

This is our second time staying at Lafayette flats and we will be back again for sure. This time we went with some other couples and each couple rented a room. It was such a great getaway. It was super clean and had such a cool, comfortable vibe. Communication with property manager was great and check in was a breeze. The new store below was awesome too. Great location for restaurants and hiking trails. Just book it! :)

We loved everything about our stay!

You can tell that the owners are travelers because they thought of everything. We used the flat as a home base for rafting and hiking. They even included an amazing hiking guide book in the room. We used it everyday. The flat is beautifully decorated and we enjoyed checking out all the little details. We loved that there was plenty of storage so we didnā€™t have to live out of our suitcases. The flat was also immaculate. Weā€™ve never stayed anywhere so clean! And we happened to run into the owners and they were so nice. Lafayette Flats is the perfect location. Walking distance to shops and restaurants and just minutes from New River Gorge National Park.

I'm Amy and my husband's name is Shawn. We were both born and raised in Charleston, WV, where we still live and we both work for the same non-profit organization. Charleston is only about one hour from Fayetteville, so lucky for us, the best vacation spot in West Virginia is close by. Lafayette Flats began with our simple desire to get out of town.

We found out early in our relationship that we travel together well and we love to do it as often as we can. We love taking weekend driving trips to places like Asheville, Columbus, Charlotte and Louisville, and we've been all over our home state of West Virginia.

Many years ago we drove across the country on Route 66 and last fall we toured Northern California - Yosemite, Redwoods, Wine Country - we loved it all. But big trips are few and far between, so we satisfy our travelin' Jones by making the drive up to Fayetteville as often as we can. Maybe it's the Bacon Jam at The Secret Sandwich Society or the breathtaking views from Long Point Trail, but something keeps us coming back again and again.

We looked for a small apartment in Fayetteville that we could rent, just to have a home base where we could escape to on weekends but found nothing suitable. After months of searching, we decided to take on a project where we could build our own space. We looked at several opportunities, but the one that caught our eye was the historic building on the corner of Court Street and Wiseman Avenue - known as 'The Malcolm Building.'

This building was built in 1906 to house The Bank of Fayette and is on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Fayetteville's Historic District. We spent the summer and fall of 2013 renovating the building - doing much of the work ourselves. We are eager to show off our space!

Our love for Fayetteville and the New River Gorge area caused us to something we had never done before: We bought and renovated this historic cut stone building, transforming the top two floors into four apartment-style vacation rentals. Eddy is one of four flats in the building, and the one that we call our second home.

Since it is on the Historic Registry, we were very intentional in our renovation plan to leave the building intact as much as possible. Originally built to be an office building, each floor only had one common bathroom and the heating in the building was hot water radiators. Since it was built before electricity, the electrical system was hodgepodge of makeshift circuits and ancient fuse boxes.

Along with these negatives, though, were a lot of positives: The beautiful original woodwork is still there and the fortress-like construction means that the building is very sturdy. The beautiful cut-stone exterior looks exactly like it did when it was built a century ago.

Our renovation plans preserved the woodwork and the basic configuration of the building. Installing a new electrical system and the plumbing necessary to support two additional bathrooms and kitchens was done in such a way as not to change the character of the building. Fire codes made us make some alterations to doorways, but overall the building looks as it has for the last century. But in spite of the ancient spaces of this small town former bank building, the interior design is chic, modern and urban.

We want to offer visitors to Fayetteville something completely different from the campsites, cabins and large vacation home rentals available in the area. Furnished with all the comforts of home and decorated to the nines with local original art and many unique design elements, this is not your typical vacation rental! We want you to more than just feel at home - we want you to wish that you lived here!

Our efficient booking process, high cleaning standards and luxurious amenities are what you find in an upscale hotel, but we have no front desk to slow you down and you can relax without the daily intrusion of cleaning staff.

Our downtown location right across from the beautiful Fayette County Courthouse allows our guests to park their car and relax. Lafayette Flats is close walking distance from all the great shops, restaurants and pubs Fayetteville has to offer and a very short drive to all the NRG trails and adventure activities.

But itā€™s the interior of Lafayette Flats thatā€™s really special. Throughout all four of our boutique vacation rentals, we showcase original, contemporary WV art and we have a library full of books about WV and by WV authors.
