The Danes have a word for the joy of home: hygge. “Hygge” is a word frequently used in Danish and Norwegian that literally means “cozy.” Beyond that, “hygge” is also associated with “secure,” “comfortable,” and “small but nice.” With this in mind, this vacation rental was renovated and completely redesigned with great attention to detail as a modern seaside getaway. From almost every window, you can see sailboats and the blue waters of the fjord glistening.
Make yourself at home in this Baltic Sea apartment in one of the most beautiful seaside resorts in Schleswig-Holstein.
It is located on the second floor of an apartment building (no elevator) with nine units. The building is constructed in the clinker brick style typical of northern Germany. The stairwell was newly renovated in early 2019.
Bedroom – Berth I features a 160 cm x 200 cm double bed with two new mattresses (H2). The sloped ceiling with its large skylight, in particular, gives the room its cozy atmosphere and its name. When getting into bed from the window side, it’s advisable to be careful not to bump your head. When lying in bed, you can drift off to sleep while enjoying a wonderful view of the fjord.
Bedroom Cabin II features a beautiful daybed (80 x 200 cm), which is also perfect for relaxing during the day. A small table with a lamp, a comfortable chair, and a shelf under the sloped ceiling with a large skylight round out the furnishings here as well, inviting you to enjoy a cozy read with a panoramic view. The daybed is also equipped with a pull-out mechanism and can be quickly and easily converted into a full-size double bed (160 x 200). When used as a pull-out bed, this room can also accommodate two people—though it does get a bit cramped.
In the light-filled living room, the large dormer windows and skylights face south. Starting in the early afternoon, you’ll find a wonderfully sunny spot here on the uniquely designed window seat, with a great view of the fjord all the way to the Schilksee marina, where you can sunbathe sheltered from the wind with the window open. This window seat simply invites you to daydream. When the weather is bad, the spacious couch and flat-screen TV invite you to relax, or you can surf the web using the free internet.
The kitchenette is modernly equipped and offers everything you could want in a vacation rental: dishwasher, microwave, oven, glass-ceramic cooktop, refrigerator, range hood, electric kettle, and plenty of storage space. For coffee lovers, we have a drip coffee maker. Vacationers will also find a comprehensive selection of dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. This means you can whip up a delicious breakfast or a light meal yourself and enjoy it at the bar table with four high chairs (two of which are height-adjustable). From here, too, you’ll enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the fjord.
The small bathroom has been completely renovated with high-quality finishes. The large, 160-cm-long walk-in shower, featuring a high-quality sliding glass door, is adorned with decorative tiles in a unique textured design that captures the character of the Baltic Sea through shades of ocean blue and sandy tones. There is also a large, 140-cm-wide wall mirror with lighting and a heated towel rack. A hair dryer is, of course, also provided. The bathroom also features a large window and is very bright.
The hallway area contains the coat rack, the wardrobe, and the utility cabinet with various household items. For your safety, a fire extinguisher and a first-aid kit are on site.
The free parking space is located behind the building and is easily accessible via the driveway from the street.
