Beautifully remodeled and newly furnished home in lovely Windsor Hills, centrally located in San Diego high above Downtown La Mesa. This romantic space consists of l,400 sq. ft. total with three bedrooms, three full baths, kitchen plus kitchenette, dining room, large living/family room, central heating/air-conditioning, garage, and Brand New LG Front Loader Washer/Dryer.

Upper House - 1,000 sq. ft., 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room with two conversation spaces, beautiful deck with view.

Guest House - 400 sq. ft., 1 bedroom, 1 bath (shower),
kitchenette, lounging space and deck access with view!

The Main House with Wood floors and Vaulted Wood-Beamed Ceilings add vintage charm along with original doors, cabinetry and closets. 55-inch Flat-Screen Television in living room can be viewed in the open floor plan from kitchen and dining areas.

The Master Bedroom includes Queen Bed with brand new comfortable mattress, Master Suite Bath, 32-inch Flat-Screen T.V., Mirrored Closet and Spectacular Coastal Views, Awesome Sunsets, and Sparkling City Lights.

The second Bedroom includes a Queen Bed, Armoire with Drawers, T. V., and Closet...a bright space with windows to enjoy the warmth and beauty of wonderful sunny San Diego.

Guest House/Third Bedroom boasts a King-size Bed, Two- 32-inch TVs with view windows in a 400 sq. ft. space to include Bathroom, Kitchenette and Lounging area. Flooring consists of beautiful Italian Porcelain Tile throughout this cozy setting...a great place to hang out and relax inside...or on the outside deck!

This Guest House may be reserved in conjunction with the two bedroom/two bath Main House...or it may be reserved by itself. Speak with owners for personal reservation accommodations and pricing.

The Main House can be reserved by itself also.

The charming home accommodates 6 people in beds with two roll-outs available for extra sleeping arrangements.

This gem is located in a quaint upscale cul-de-sac neighborhood with spectacular views in the distance of the Pacific Ocean, San Diego Harbor, San Diego Coastline, and Sparkling City Lights from nearly all rooms and 2 outside decks. Sunsets are absolutely amazing!

This Jewel is in a great walking neighborhood...which boasts the very popular 'Secret Stairway' that begins at the top of the mountain and leads you all the way down into the La Mesa Village.

Loved, loved, loved our stay here! Carla is an amazing host. From the personal check-in to the immaculately clean home to the welcome snacks, pie, and flowers to the comfortable accommodations with a stunning view, this is the absolute best VRBO experience we have ever had! We had everything we needed plus some. Carla was great about communicating and was a gracious and generous host.The views are amazing, and the home is pretty centrally located to anything you want to do in San Diego. We hope to come back to San Diego in the future, and when we do, this home will be our pick for lodging!

Perfect Home in La Mesa

From the stunning views, to the comfy beds and everything in between, our stay at Carla’s home was absolutely perfect! Carla went out of her way to help us have a great time in San Diego! She left us muffins, snacks, coffee and a delicious apple pie! She also made sure to tell us all her favorite spots to eat in the neighborhood and actually escorted us directly to one of them our first evening!! It was our first trip to the West Coast and with Carla’s help, we definitely had an unforgettable time. It was nice every evening to drive back to this comfortable La Mesa home away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with a cool secret staircase very close by. From the deck of this home you have an unobstructed view for watching the sunset!! Thank you again Carla for a wonderful vacation!

Lovely Home with a View

I'm a stickler for cleanliness & "Gem in the Hills" was spotless! I'm also sensitive to fragrances & smells, & how things feel, & everything here was great! Soft & luxurious towels & sheets with no strong fragrances. As others have said, this is a beautiful place with a gorgeous view. It was a good space for two grandparent couples, here to attend our granddaughter's high school graduation. It was great that we could park right outside the front door, with only one step into the house. We loved the bowl of fruit, the large variety of snacks, & coffee, plus the whole family enjoyed the delicious pie! Carla is an excellent host, ready to meet every need. Thank you for a wonderful stay in La Mesa!!

Our stay was great. Expected to have access to guest house as mentioned in advertising. 3 adults female in 2nd bedroom was tight. Fold away bed added to room. Very little space to move. Was disappointing. Was asked to pay extra for guest house on arrival.

Great Place

It was a very nice place and clean. The owners are great! They had snacks and desserts waiting on our arrival. She was also kind enough to ship my daughters rings that she left back to us. The neighborhood was nice and quite too. I would stay here again.

Wonderful place

This home has a wonderful view, the decor is lovely and the hostess stocked us up on coffee and yummy snacks….including a apple pie! I highly recommend.

Comfortable and lovely

I can't say enough about our host, Carla, and her wonderful home. She welcomed us on arrival with our favorite pie and other treats, and made sure we had everything we needed. Carla has a gift for making her guests feel well taken care of. Her home is decorated very attractively but it is also comfortable and cozy. The view from the deck is spectacular. The neighborhood is great, near the famous secret steps of La Mesa, the village, and access to the freeways. This is the third place we have rented this month while our flood damaged home was repaired. As anxious as we were to get back home we were a little sad leaving this lovely place.

Family wedding

Carla snd John are the ultimate hosts. They make you feel welcome and at home. They greet you with all kinds of goodies and restaurant recommendations. Their home is comfortable and stocked with everything you need for a home away from home. I highly recommend this vacation rental.

Relaxing stay

We had a great, relaxing stay in La Mesa. Just a short drive to downtown and other great San Diego spots. Everything was well kept and they even gave us snacks (a whole cherry pie) upon check in!

Great Property

Clean and Friendly

The house is situated such that there is a nice view. Carla was very nice and made a point to make us welcome, including providing snacks and pastries for us to enjoy. My only suggestion would be separate AC controls for the guest house. Thank you Carla.

All the Comforts of Home

We had an incredible stay at this Jewel! In town for our niece's wedding. Stayed with my brother and his wife. Traveled around downtown and north of La Mesa and we were very centrally located. Carla and John could not have been more nice or accommodating. We had some travel issues come up and they were very flexible in making sure we could get into the home and get comfortable. And oh, how comfortable! The house is immaculate. It is larger than the photos show. The home is furnished like a model, but one you would want to live in for a long time. Carla made sure we would be comfortable by calling when I made the reservation and finding out what we liked and what we needed. Lots of good coffee, snacks and fruit when we arrived. We began and ended our days on the spacious deck with the marvelous views. Things important to travelers: Clean? Immaculate. Comfortable? Like home. Owners? The nicest! Space? Plenty. Scenery? Can't be beat. Water? Lots of hot and lots of pressure. Convenient? Close to highways and downtown, yet private and quiet. We visit family in San Diego. We can't wait to come back! Thank you Carla and John!

Great Views and Perfect Hostess

Perfect location overlooking San Diego. With easy access on the less congested I94 West to downtown. We stayed in both the upstairs unit which sleeps 5 for our adult children. The downstairs unit became a perfect getaway for us with no noise between levels. When you arrive Carla will warmly greet you and provide extra touches not found in other rentals.

Perfect location in the hills!

Carla was wonderful to work with. The place was clean, accommodating and exactly in a perfect location for our travels. Beds were very comfortable and the space was fully equipped with everything we needed for a 6 day stay for my son's wedding. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely pleasant home away from home

Due to a major plumbing crisis at home, we were out of our house for three months while repairs were made and moved 9 times in 2 months! This jewel was the last place we stayed on this odyssey and it was wonderful! This is a warm, bright, welcoming place, extremely clean and very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely and the view really is great. If you want a place that is close to major freeways to get around...but you also want a private homey oasis at the end of the day's adventures ~ this is it! Carla is a cheerful, responsive, generous hostess. Thanks so much, Carla.

Home Away From Home

Absolutely nothing has been spared to make sure that the you have a “home away from home” when you stay in this lovely place! Comfortable beds, quality linens and towels, the most well stocked kitchen, beautiful decor and so much more make this the perfect place to stay. Carla, the gracious owner, greeted us with a sweet smile and a delicious apple pie. She also had coffee, snacks and fruit waiting for us. Everything you could possibly want is in this jewel of a home! Best place I have ever rented on VRBO!

Beautiful view & immaculately clean.

Carla met us at check-in and showed us the house. She had a wonderful apple pie for us along with lots of fresh fruit and other snacks. The bed was very comfy and the entire house is very comfortable and clean. The view during the day or night is wonderful! We would definitely stay here again! Carla is a wonderful host!!! Highly recommend!!

We chose this Windsor Hills Property mainly for its charm, romantic views and dazzling sunsets. This "Jewel" boasts wood-beamed ceilings in the " Main House" (2b/2b), two outside decks, dining room, retro kitchen, and a large living space overlooking the coast.
Also a "Guest House" with kitchen, living space, bathroom (shower) and bedroom (l) which can be rented along with the Main House for overflow of guests.
The La Mesa area is in a great location and very central to so many activities through San Diego.

Our "Jewel in the Hills" Vacation Home and Guest House is in an awesome, quiet, walking neighborhood with the "Secret Stairs" that take visitors to the bottom of the mountain (or to the top of Windsor Hills) where guests can stroll into La Mesa Village for some shopping, dining, antiquing...and much more. Trolley access is available in La Mesa Village for access around San Diego and the Mexican Border.
