Not as expected
Unfortunately, this home wasn't what we envisioned based on listing photos and previous reviews. The home hadn't been cleaned before our arrival (potentially over a month ago) so downstairs beds were unmade, dirty towels left out, toys all over the place, and most upsetting was a garbage can filled with trash and tons of fruit flies. There wasn't even a single roll of paper towels left out for use. At first it was challenging to get in touch with the host, who seemed not at all remorseful for the inconvenience. Although he compensated our first night and sent in a cleaner (one solo person for an entire home), it did not change the fact that we spent the rest of our stay battling a fly problem. Anytime we made dinner, opened a glass of wine, or went into the kitchen swarms flies followed us and our children around.
Additionally, we felt as though the pictures did not accurately represent some areas in the home. The playroom left much to be desired, which was a letdown considering it was one of the main reasons we chose this house. Rather than the organized, bright, airy room in the photo it was dark with lightbulbs out, holes in the ceiling, mismatched broken toys all over the floor, and workout equipment thrown about. The outdoor area was basically unusable. Patio furniture and lounge chair cushions were left out and covered in moss and mold, the grass was uncut, and none of the grills were ready for use.
Our families have stayed in home rentals many times before and this was our first unpleasant experience. We will not be staying in this rental home again.
