Still A Great Family Getaway!

This was our second stay. We love the boardwalk and flora & fauna! Very clean pool & hot tub which were enjoyed by all. We love the retro decor, eclectic artwork and super comfy beds!

Beach Paradise

This house was perfect for my family of six (2 adults, 4 teenagers). The private beach was so fun and relaxing. We will definitely rent this house again.

Beautiful cool spot away from the heat wave!

Absolutely lovely spot amongst the dunes and farmland. Very little light pollution made for excellent star gazing, and the beach was very close. Quiet and wonderful. Not much cell connectivity, but that made for a great escape.

Would love to come back again!

This an ideal getaway! Very private, but still close to shops, restaurants ect. The rental was well stocked and clean. Beautiful beach within walking distance. We will definitely be coming back here again!

It is advertised that there is WiFi but there is no internet. When you get the final check in info it says “NO INTERNET”. And that is correct. My other problem with the home is the musty odor when you open the cupboards. There are lots of glasses, plates,etc. It has never been cleaned out. Location Fabulous. Club house and facilities are great.

Best Family Spot in Monterey!

Private, practically, beach with beautiful sunsets. Everything a kitchen should have for cooking family dinners, plus a big dining room table to spread out. Super comfy beds, soft linens, plenty of towels, a cupboard full of games & puzzles. Honestly, just bring your groceries and settle in.

This is one of the rare condos in the Colony that has a true second floor with an incredible view of the ocean. The walk from the condo to the beach is the shortest across the Colony, and the dunes are low enough that you can even see the ocean from the bottom level master bedroom. No internet. No problem. No broadcast or cable TV. No problem. Download your favorite movies onto a tablet and enjoy the night air. Yes, it smells musty when you first walk in, but it’s obvious the owners are trying to mitigate that with baking soda air purifiers everywhere. Extra stars for NOT using those stinky plug-ins that give people migraines! I got used to the smell after a day. Yes, the place is outdated, but it is exactly the kind of vacation rental that your grandparents would’ve gone to (and probably do). The nesting chair and recliner that sit right in front of the living room window make it the coziest setting I’ve ever experienced at a Colony condo. My husband literally said, “I think I’m the most relaxed I’ve ever been in my entire life.”

Moss landing home

This house was delightful. We loved the eclectic decor and funky furnishings. This house felt like a hug from your beach loving, free spirited Aunt. Traveling with four teenagers we were grateful for the three bathrooms and bedrooms with enough space to spread out and have some breathing room. Stairs lead up, down, and to the beach. Everything felt super safe and cozy. We saw groups of families and friends traveling together. The listing says no wifi, but we somehow had enough cell service to keep us all happy!

Thanksgiving holiday.

We have stayed at this property numerous times. Every time is beautiful and unique. The house is dated but is clean and functional and serves our family well. My mother and father especially enjoy the warm feeling a visiting grandma's house. There was nothing we needed and the view was spectacular. Cozy and warm and plenty of amenities. Just note that there is no Wi-Fi which we found to be a blessing, as my kids enjoyed the beach and games with their cousins. We will come back again and again!!! We've been enjoying this place for almost 8 years.

Decor is horrible -takes away from the serene beach experience:(

My family and I have stayed at several Monterey Dunes Colony condos. This one is the only one we would not rent again. The location is great, the actual unit is not. Every wall is covered with someone’s garage sale finds, every room packed with old musty furniture, every surface covered with knick knacks. It completely takes away from the serene beach experience. The property management company is responsive, as they dealt with a plumbing issue we were having. There are far better condos to rent in this development.

No need to comment on the location - if you know about Monterey Dunes, you know all you need to know. If you don't, you need to stay here and find out!As for the home, the host was super responsive. House had everything we needed for a week with the family. Very clean. Not fancy, but comfortable - we would definitely stay here again.

Never rent a place that doesn't show interior photos!

It smelled musty, overcrowded with furniture, and in desperate need of renovation. The listing said it had no wi-fi (who does that nowadays??) but it neglected to say that there was little to no cell service there either. Just getting text messages to send was a major effort. Also, the documentation the owner sent out was confusing at best and down-right untrue at times. The sunsets were great , but I'd suggest finding another unit in this development to rent.

Perfect Beach House

The house was clean welcoming and comfortable on the beautiful beach front with great views. We loved the homes decor and it was well stocked for cooking with plenty of towels bedding and soaps. Many times we had the beach all to ourselves. The kids enjoyed the club house nearby with hot tub pool volleyball and tennis courts on site. We were very happy with the beach house and our family made lots of wonderful memories. Many thanks!

Annual Dunes Vacation

This house is a triple level so feels a little smaller, but was priced well. House was very well stocked. We had a great week. Only drawback is the lack of WiFi and the TV channels, but I would stay here again.

A little cluttered but a lot of character. Beautiful beaches. Hot tub was not on property, but hot! One complaint: Printed info left in house was out of date: e.g., hours for pool are 10 am, but we went at 9, incorrect time listed in papers in house.

Beautiful ocean view

We loved how close it was to the ocean. It’s also wonderful to have twin beds in the other rooms so siblings can have their own space to sleep. The decor is odd and there are a lot of chairs, like other reviewers have said but the space is comfortable and the location is lovely so we would happily stay there again.

Great location, house needs a little TLC

I'm writing hoping the manager will see this and address the many (small) issues because I'd like to go back. First the good - the jacuzzi exists. WE used it. come with your own towels* Beach access is awesome Some games and puzzles for the kiddos - nice Stove heats so fast we had tea and hot cocoa super fast! Now the fix list: * Come with your own beach towels. We just took whatever we could and used them. There are no extra linens, but the beds have like 5 layers each. - Please remove about 40 pictures from the walls. It honestly was distracting. They don't match, they were stressful on my eyes (sounds petty, but really) - There were 34 throw pillows. And so many chairs. Take some stuff out please. - No food storage space because... - We used the limited counter space to stack what we would need for fear of opening the cabinets and the strained shelves would collapse and send the 100 (no exaggeration. Likely much more) dishes crashing. Seriously - remove some dishes and get a sturdy shelf. There are SOOOOOO many dishes and servers and bowls and more dishes and platters. - The house needs a little manual - where are the heat settings, the garbage disposal switch (by the microwave near the window FYI), a note about remotes, etc. - Every flat surface has a knick-knacks on it. EVERY. SPACE. We temporarily put some away so we could put down our reading book, glasses and phones. Even the dining table had stuff on it. - Furniture is a wee outdated. Might just spruce it up to remove the extra and the 90's boom boxes. My dresser had a broken handle too. - Did I mention the pictures? Asian, boats, beaches, roosters, birds, animals, flowers, random stuff - One reviewer liked that cat (was that a joke?). It's a cartoon, next to a print, next to 2 paintings. Oy. I missed that there is no internet. Totally my fault, but I had a work emergency and simply had to let it crash. Never did I think to look for WIFI in 2020's. There is a DVD player (really), but no DVDs. Who brings DVDs on vacation? Why is that an amenity? I liked the place, but just know this is not a five star place. Location is great. I would return, but I would spend a few hours packing up the pillows, pictures, knick-knacks and dishes and stacking it all in a closet so I could relax in it. And I'd order a WIFI hotspot to go or something like that. These fixes are not expensive at all and this is a great location. Please give it a little TLC!

Awesome View

This is an ideal location if you enjoy the beach and beach combing. We didn't find any strange or rare shells but there were lots of sand dollars and mollusks. The bird watching was interesting, with an introduction to the habits of the snowy plover, brown pelican, and the ever present gulls. The hike to the "shipwreck" was fun although the "shipwreck" was not very romantic--just a metal skeleton of a 20th century vessel.

Great Views

The place was fun and private. While you’re right next to people you forget they are there. The sunsets are amazing and the ocean is all you hear. The house is nice with everything you need for a small get away with friends or family.
