Two bedroom (2 queens in one br, 1 king br), full kitchen with side by side freezer/fridge, electric range and oven, microwave and coffee maker, blender, all equipment. Full comfy living room with 55'’ TV and free fast Wi-Fi. Tiled bathroom. Newly restored in 2012. We provide towels, all the bedding, and all the comforts of home!

The apartment was great! Super clean and cozy. Plenty of towels, all the dishes we could've needed, even had coffee ready for the coffee pot (so grateful for that)! It was pretty hot during our stay, but the fans provided were a lifesaver. The kids loved being right above the ice cream shop! Jane was really responsive and helpful. Thanks so much for an awesome stay, it made our adventure around the peninsula that much better!

What a fun and comfortable spot. Our adult children joined us as our youngest graduated from Michigan Tech. The location was great, beds very comfortable and the unit was amazingly spacious. Thank you for the hospitality!

A Wonderful Stay!

This is the second time we stayed here for a friends’ ski/snowboard trip, and it was just was wonderful as we remembered from last year! Jane was fantastic in accommodating us, and we are looking forward to staying here next year as well!

Wonderful Stay

Clean, comfy, good icecream downstairs. We rode bikes and hiked in Copper Harbor during the day and relaxed and spent time as a family at night. They had a good selection of family games and puzzles for use. Would definitely stay here again.

A great time in the UP!

Third year coming up to the UP with our ski/board friend group (although this year was a bit of a bust for snow). We stay here every time, and love the boxcar! It’s a great home base for exploring the area. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Mt. Bohemia ski weekend

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here, it’s always very clean and cozy. Plenty of space for a group of 4-6 people. The beds are very comfortable and always plenty of linens. The host is very accessible and helpful. This is one of our favorite places to stay in the Keewanau!

Precious time with mom and dad. PERFECT accommodations for handicapped momma.

Nice for a close family. A large open room- no privacy. The bathroom is beautifully done for wheelchair access, however, the shower needs some grab bars as there are none. Wonderfully supplied with refrigerator full kitchen silverware and even spoces!

Great Family Getaway

We decided to book this location for a last-minute getaway during fall school break for a family of four. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean, and the Wi-Fi kept all of us online. I would have no problem working remotely from here using the Wi-Fi, but this was a short vacation, so remote work was not in my plans for this trip :-). We loved the strategic location of this property, which made it easy to visit Houghton and the Michigan Tech campus, as well as the northernmost portion of the Keweenaw Peninsula. We also thought the little library of DVDs was a nice touch and watched one as a family after a busy day of touring around. Overall, this was a wonderful place to stay, and I would come back if we were in the area again!

This was our second stay at the Ahmeek Streetcar Station

Both our stays have been in the winter - about 3 years apart. Unfortunately, both during unseasonably cold spells in the UP. The Streetcar Station is a great place. It's spacious, well stocked and the furnishings are very comfortable. Downside, when it's so cold outside, it's hard to keep this space warm. Floors are cold and hot water takes a LONG time to get to the bathroom/kitchen. But hey, run the water awhile, bring slippers and it's a great place to be. Plenty of room for 6 people and snowmobile gear. Very close to the trails and right in the middle of the best snowmobiling in the Midwest!

Spacious and attractive.

Brand new door needs striker plate adjusted. Extremely hard to open. We couldn’t get it, but Jacob, young man running the ice cream shop below, was very helpful and pleasant. (Needs a raise!). He helped us with Internet also (password had been changed). One suggestion I would make is that a curtain be put over window at bottom of stairs.

Nice clean place, no AC and stipulations regarding pets. Read the guidelines fully.

When we first arrived, I have to mention that the parking is off to the side because there is the ice cream shop downstairs so we couldn’t park directly out our room door. We were in the upstairs 2 nice BDRs, light and bright, I did not realize that even though it’s listed as pet friendly, we were not allowed to leave the Pet at the VRBO unattended even with a kennel. The owner of the property reached out and said the pet can’t be unattended so I did explain one of the situations for the coming day that we wouldn’t be able to take the dog because the people we are visiting are allergic? we did get permission from the homeowners to go ahead and leave our dog there during that time. However, we did decide to take two separate cars as opposed to leave the dog since it was my mistake not seeing the do not leave unattended. If you have mobility issues I do not recommend due to steep stairs. It was very hot with no AC. No amenities in the town but close to everything in the surrounding peninsula. I would recommend in cooler weather & to people who don’t mind stairs. The hosts are friendly & responsive. Community very friendly. Cute, clean, with Northwoods touches throughout. Also the bathroom was clean and nice. I really like the light and brightness of the home.

We all scream for ice cream!

This property was exactly as stated above the local ice cream window. As the property is just off the highway (41) there is some minor street noise, but the customer traffic below is typically pretty steady but subtle. We enjoyed the best ice cream EVER each night, and with 25 flavors to choose from, it was tough choosing! Jane has a well-appointed property with comfortable beds and most amenities you could ever hope for. The only two suggestions I would make: 1) add smoke detectors to the apartment 2) tell the staff not to overcook the bison burgers. They are billed as tender, but our three burgers were cooked as hard as dinner plates. Since bison don't transmit ecoli, there should be little worry about undercooking. Thanks - all in all a great stay in a beautiful scenic peninsula!
