Please note, Hurricane Ike forever changed the footprint of Bolivar Peninsula, therefore some homes listed as beachfront may have a lot and/or street in front of it. This is the result of the uncertainty following the storm where some property owners elected to participate in the government buy out of lots that fell in what later would be considered within the vegetation line established by the State of Texas and subsequently included as part of the public beach. Not all property owners participated. Those homes where the property in front of it are part of the buyout are considered beachfront even though to the east or west of it there may be a home closer to the beach.

PERFECT place for our larger size family

Perfect location and wonderful house

This was a perfect house for our mulitgeneration family and dog. Location is right on the beach with a nice grass yard in front and on side. Plenty of room for us and the foosball table was a hit with the grandsons. The cargo lift was definitely a plus!

Family Fun

We had a wonderful time on the beach with 3 generations. Ranging between 6-66. The lift was amazing getting all our food and belongings upstairs and saving our knees. We needed a larger skillet to cook bacon for 9 people and the host provide one the next day. The very short walk to the beach and breeze made for perfect enjoyment. Even the dog was sad to leave. The a/c worked great. The large dining table was roomy enough for all of us and great for games.

Our time at Janie's was very relaxing and much needed. We were all very well pleased and happy with our selection. This location is strongly recommended.

Beautiful view

Location is wonderful. House needs upgrades. Beds are hard so if you like that you’re in good shape. The front door needs work, it’s falling. Chain needs to be replaced on porch swing, gate needs work that goes from the porch to the lift. Main burner on stove doesn’t work. No electrical outlets down stairs so bring an extension cord if you need to charge anything. A/c works great, plenty of room and clean. All in all, we would stay here again but hoping they fix the issues.

Needs some maintenance

The check in process is overly complicated The home had a cat urine odor The house needs tlc But the worst part is the extra fees that you aren’t told upfront and if you cancel you don’t get your money back.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved the house. It was very spacious and accommodating for our group. Loved that beach access was very close to the house. I wished we would have prepared for ants. Apparently, everyone was having issues with them as friends and family who own homes close by had the same problem. The only other issue but minimal was ceiling fan in master bedroom didn't work. Luckily a small fan in the closet worked well for a quick fix.

While there were some upgrades/repairs needed (such as a hard/squeaky mattress in one of the secondary bedrooms and a leaky window in the dining area) the overall experience was relaxing and enjoyable. The location is wonderful and the house is comfortable and large.

We loved Janie’s!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This gorgeous beach house is even better than it is described! The house is on a corner giving it direct beach access. Although technically it is row 2, it just gives you a large yard in front of you before the dunes and the beach. The 2 houses on either side are closer to the beach, but they don’t obstruct your view of the Gulf. The house itself is beautiful and spacious. It exceeded our expectations. We used the decks everyday and grilled out in the tiki bar one night and had a fire. We made some awesome memories. We were there the 3rd week of March and it was so quiet. The kitchen was fully stocked, and the whole place was spotless and well-maintained. We did rent the winter linens, which was worth it for us. We wouldn’t have had room in our van for traveling with sheets and towels from WI. We barely made it to the office by 4:30 on a Sunday to avoid the $50 penalty and they were very friendly. We didn’t have contact the rest of the week, because our stay went so smoothly. We enjoyed everything we did in Crystal Beach: fishing with Sharklife Outfitters and Galveston Party boats, beachcombing, kite flying, renting an 8 seater golf cart from TX Custom Carts, walking the jetty, visiting Fort Travis, crabbing, skim boarding, and boogey boarding. We also enjoyed these restaurants: Tia Juanita’s, Huli Huli Hut (in Galveston), Busta a Lime, Hardhead’s, Tiki Bar and Panini Press. The Big Store was friendly and convenient. We loved our stay in Crystal Beach and would highly recommend Janie’s!

Fantastic Mother’s Day Beach Weekend

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 8 had a great 2 night stay for Mother’s Day Weekend at Janie’s at Crystal Beach/Port Bolivar Texas. EVERYTHING about the location of Jamie’s was just perfect. Cabin was clean and well kept inside and out. You can’t get a better view of the beach, than at Janie’s on the top floor deck. We rented JANIE’S last year , and we would rent Janie’s again.

A blanket upstairs was damp & sour smelling, we received 1 dish towel for 4 days, 1 roll of toilet paper in 3 bathrooms & half roll in the 4th. No paper towels hardly any soap in the soap dispensers. Parental controls on the TV’s. We considered leaving early.
