Enjoy these overnight/weekly rental accommodations located just 0.2 mile off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway near mile marker 214. Make yourself cozy by the fireplace, or sit on your own private deck and enjoy the mountain view while watching deer, turkey, and other wildlife roam. A Place By The Parkway complements the natural beauty and mountain views of this area and is located in a rural residential area. Talents of local artists are showcased in the dƩcor within and surrounding A Place By The Parkway.

A Place By The Parkway is convenient to many nearby attractions. We are located just 1.2 miles from the Blue Ridge Music Center located on the parkway. The music center offers a Saturday evening concert series during the summer months. Galax, Virginia, the World's Capitol of Old Time & Bluegrass Music is just 8 miles away and full of unique shopping and dining establishments. The historic Rex Theater is located in downtown Galax and hosts the Blue Ridge Backroads Live show each Friday night from 8 - 10 p.m. and can be heard live on 98.1 FM. The Blue Ridge Music Center and the City of Galax are both major venues along The Crooked Road, Virginia's Heritage Music Trail. Mt. Airy, North Carolina, the home place of Andy Griffith, is within a half-hour's drive.

It was very clean, also very quiet.The bed was super comfortable. We also had plenty of towels and washcloths. The view in the front and back was a little disappointing but we did see some deer walk through the front yard.

The best place to stay

My cabin was homey and charming. Everything I needed was right there. The site is comfy and private and that made for a restful stay. This was the second time I have stayed in cabin #1 and hope I can stay there the next time I come to Galax!

A quiet, lovely site off the Blue Ridge Parkway

This little cabin was perfect for our anniversary getaway. It was well-equipped, the jetted tub was relaxing and if we had been staying longer than two nights we would have used the stacked washer/dryer. The owners were extremely responsive to communication and offered helpful advice about the area, too. We would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful overnight! Just what we needed!

We loved this cabin. Just down the road from the music museum where we watched an evening concert, so it was very convenient! It was clean, cozy, peaceful and had everything! Coffee available, a washer and dryer which we took advantage of, a well stocked kitchen and nice bed. Perfect in every way!

Peaceful Respite

We had a great short stay here. It was very quiet and comfortable. It would have helped to have had a chair in the living area to sit in, though. I had great difficulty climbing into the tall bed, so I just slept on the sofa. The interior was spotless, but I felt that the deck could have been swept. We enjoyed staying there, though.

We built the cabins with the hope of sharing the beauty of the area with others and hopefully use the income to help as a college fund for our children. My husband was raised on the Blue Ridge Parkway and felt that local rental cabins were needed for guests traveling through the area. My father-in-law lives next door to the cabins and is available most all of the time to help if needed, give directions, and enjoys meeting and talking with our guests. We have enjoyed meeting people, who we now call friends, from a variety of states. We have also had international visitors!

I teach school as my 'day job', clean cabins on the side, and taxi my children to their many activities. We enjoy sharing our area with others! Biking on the New River Trail is a favorite of our family. We also love picnicking and hiking at Cumberland Knob. Saturday evening concerts at the Blue Ridge Music Center are always a treat! Some of our favorite places to eat include R.J.'s Pizza, Mt. Surf Seafood, County Line CafƩ, and the Galax Smokehouse.
