Enjoy these overnight/weekly rental accommodations located just 0.2 mile off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway near mile marker 214. Make yourself cozy by the fireplace, or sit on your own private deck and enjoy the mountain view while watching deer, turkey, and other wildlife roam. A Place By The Parkway complements the natural beauty and mountain views of this area and is located in a rural residential area. Talents of local artists are showcased in the décor within and surrounding A Place By The Parkway.

A Place By The Parkway is convenient to many nearby attractions. We are located just 1.2 miles from the Blue Ridge Music Center located on the parkway. The music center offers a Saturday evening concert series during the summer months. Galax, Virginia, the World's Capitol of Old Time & Bluegrass Music is just 8 miles away and full of unique shopping and dining establishments. The historic Rex Theater is located in downtown Galax and hosts the Blue Ridge Backroads Live show each Friday night from 8 - 10 p.m. and can be heard live on 98.1 FM. The Blue Ridge Music Center and the City of Galax are both major venues along The Crooked Road, Virginia's Heritage Music Trail. Mt. Airy, North Carolina, the home place of Andy Griffith, is within a half-hour's drive.

*Fully equipped kitchen (refrigerator, electric range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, & other small appliances
*Cabinets are fully furnished with all necessities for a kitchen
*Washer/dryer; iron; hairdryer
*Rock fireplace with gas logs
*TV/DVD with satellite dish
*Gas grill
*Central heat & air condition
*Smoke free establishment with designated smoking areas outside

Place by the Parkway Review

Wed had a good overnight stay. Niced small cabin, nicley furnished. The issues: 1) We had to plunge the toilet which backed up, and 2) Very dangerouse for old people to climb into tub/shower, with no safety rails. Could also have been safer with a rubber bath mat in slippery tub.3) A lot of barking from the neighbor's dogs. Sheila was very helpful and we may come back here again.

Quiet and in the country

Great bed, all amenities available, cute ambiance. Recommend arriving in daylight, which we did not, because it’s really dark after sunset! The host was very helpful and kind.

Clean, comfortable, cozy cabin

The cabin is a wonderful place to stay. The bed is super comfortable, the towels are soft, the kitchen is equipped, and everything is clean. Check-in was simple, parking was ample, and communication with the host was fantastic. I loved the beautiful fall decorations throughout the rooms. If I am ever in the area again, I would not hesitate to book this property.

Highly recommended if you're cruising the Blue ridge parkway

We had a quick but wonderful stay here at this cabin. All the communication was easy and the cabin was perfect when we arrived. It has everything you need. And I appreciate that even the decorations were changed for fall. Out here. You're in the middle of nowhere and at 3:00 a.m. we woke up to check out the stars and saw several meteors. Keep in mind that you are in the middle of nowhere and there's no Wi-Fi. I would time your visit with the Blue ridge music center where there are events all the time and wonderful events from 12:00 to 4:00. I wish I could tell you that I found something that they could do better but honestly the place has it all.

Fabulous all around!

This property was so comfortable and homey, and the location was unbeatable if traveling on the Parkway. The host (Shelia) is fabulous at communicating and is very accommodating. She added lovely fall decorations to the place to make it extra special. The bed is very comfortable, as well. We would love to stay here again if back in the area! A+++++

The toilet seat was VERY loose . The back porch and chairs were filthy. The television was not connected and no instructions on how to use. No information for contacting the company anywhere in the facility. Otherwise nice enough.

Great Romantic Getaway

Gorgeous stars in a dark sky and a beautiful sunset highlight this romantic getaway. Owners were very available to answer questions before we arrived and we had a lovely quiet and enjoyable time. We went in to Galax for Dinner at the Creek Bottom Brewery which had love music on the Saturday night.

Was a very peaceful stay..

Love the cabin..couldn't get fireplace to work and satellite would not pick up signal so no tv..we just slept and left.

Pleasant quaint cabin, right off BRP

My sister and I had a great time at the cabin, as a home base for fall foliage blue ridge parkway touring, and checking out nearby Galax and Mt. Airy. We enjoyed seeing the deer and cows nearby. The cabin had everything you needed- bed was comfy and the gas fireplace was charming. Great find!

Hidden Gem

As a Anniversary getaway, this cabin was simply amazing. Well hidden, easy accessible and was the most amazing experience. It was gorgeous and very comfortable. Very clean and the owners terrific. Enjoyed it

It was definitely a getaway. Quiet. No cellphone service, which wasn’t so bad. Just quality time spent with a loved one. Cabin was cute. Bed was very soft. There were a couple games in there. Stayed for 2 nights. We found a movie theater and a bowling alley. We also rented some bikes and rode 20 miles. I recommend this spot, if you’re looking for a rest stop or just a simply peaceful time.

Perfect

We just stayed this weekend to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and it was great. Quiet, clean, kitchen was well equiped all you need to do is bring the ingredients, bed was comfortable, couch was too, the towels were so soft and it was all just wonderful. Definitely better than a lot of places we have stayed Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway with beautiful grounds., we enjoyed watching the cows across the way in a pasture. We definitely want to come back with the family.

We built the cabins with the hope of sharing the beauty of the area with others and hopefully use the income to help as a college fund for our children. My husband was raised on the Blue Ridge Parkway and felt that local rental cabins were needed for guests traveling through the area. My father-in-law lives next door to the cabins and is available most all of the time to help if needed, give directions, and enjoys meeting and talking with our guests. We have enjoyed meeting people, who we now call friends, from a variety of states. We have also had international visitors!

I teach school as my 'day job', clean cabins on the side, and taxi my children to their many activities. We enjoy sharing our area with others! Biking on the New River Trail is a favorite of our family. We also love picnicking and hiking at Cumberland Knob. Saturday evening concerts at the Blue Ridge Music Center are always a treat! Some of our favorite places to eat include R.J.'s Pizza, Mt. Surf Seafood, County Line Café, and the Galax Smokehouse.
