Our lodge is in the middle of Giethoorn, the Netherlands. Here you can enjoy the great opportunities which Giethoorn provides. A perfect accommodation for a stay for some days or longer. This holiday home is situated on the canalside. You can reach it by car. Free parking behind the lodge.

The Accomodation.
The lodge has a fully equipped kitchen. There are tree bedrooms with a total of 8 beds. The beds can be used as single or double. There are two luxury bathroom and there are two toilets. There is even a sauna, which is an infrared cabin. In the living room you’ll find an comfortable sofa, which can be transformed into a sofa bed.

Guest access.
All guest have access to the whole court yard, so you are able to see our activities, as for example beekeeping, boat construction and traditional reed cultivation. We like to tell our guest about the old village. Especially about the history.

There is Free WIFI and parking available.

Electric boat: In the boathouse of the lodge lies your own electric boat. (8 persons easy)
This boat is for rent. You can rent the boat per Hour, per day or for your whole stay.

Our surroundings.
You will come in the old part of Giethoorn with the little canals and bridges.

Finding our lodge
Giethoorn in situated in the neighborhood of Steenwijk (5 km), Meppel (10 km) and Zwolle (30 km). The train brings you to Steenwijk and the bus (no. 70) brings you to Giethoorn and stops in front of our lodge. Bus stop "De Lindenhof".
From Amsterdam International Airport, Schiphol, by train, it's about 2 hours traveling to Steenwijk. Then, another 10 minutes by bus.

There are bikes available for free.

Special vacation

We loved our stay at this Vrbo in Giethoorn. It was great to live a little like those who are always living there. The use of the boat was a must as it gave us a feeling of what it is like to live in this area surrounded by water. I loved the tranquil feeling of going for a boat ride, and walking the paths along the houses. Thank you Bert and Marie!

fantastic place to stay

This was a beautiful house. Very clean, warm, well set-up. It was set in a quiet area of town, with beautiful trees, birds, flowers, canals. We enjoyed walking through the town and listening to the birds. Our hosts were gracious and welcoming. The house was clean and perfect. The stairs would be hard for someone with mobility issues, but they didn't bother us. There is one bedroom on the main floor, and a toilet and a shower on the main floor, if someone has mobility issues. We stayed here with 4 adults and loved every minute here. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone else.

Geräumiges und gemütliches Ferienhaus auf einem schönen Gelände, keine Luxusunterkunft, aber bestens ausgestattet. Sehr herzliche Gastgeber, die auch Fahrräder kostenlos zur Verfügung stellen – nicht die neuesten Modelle, aber praktisch für Ausflüge. Die Lage etwas außerhalb von Giethoorn ist mit Rad oder Auto ideal, nur ein leichter, feuchter Geruch im Haus durch die Wassernähe war bemerkbar. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!

Schon in kurzer Zeit haben wir den Alltag vergessen in der schönen Umgebung von Giethoorn. Besonders gefallen haben uns die Fahrten in der Schaluppe durch die vielen Kanäle. Die Vermieter waren sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Herrlich!!!!

Wir haben den Aufenthalt auf der Lodge sehr genossen! Das Haus was optimal für 4 Erwachsene , obwohl noch 1 Schlafzimmer frei blieb. Die Gastgeber haben uns sehr freundlich empfangen, den Hof gezeigt und waren immer ansprechbar. Eine private Bootstour mit Bert war das Highlight der Woche. Die Umgebung ist für Radfahrer ein Traum. Die Lage des Hauses im nicht so touristischen Teil von Giethorn ist perfekt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Super Lage vom Haus

Die Lage vom Haus ist Top, wer Ruhe sucht ist hier richtig, das Haus ist mit viel Liebe eingerichtet, alles ist vorhanden vom Löffel bis zum Teller, man braucht nichts mitzubringen, alles war sehr sauber. Bert und Marie sind ganz liebe Vermieter nochmals vielen Dank für alles, Bert hat mit uns noch eine schöne Bootstour gemacht !! SUPER !!! Zum Einkaufen ca. 3 KM, mit Fahrrad oder Auto, Top !! Baden gehen ist auch vor der Tür, Top !!! Für euch beide weiterhin viel Glück !! Brigitte und Detlef

Fantastisch!

Die Giethoorn Lodge ist einfach fantastisch! Die Lage des Ferienhauses könnte besser nicht sein, es ist möglich, direkt von der Terrasse aus mit dem Boot auf die schönsten Routen zu fahren. Empfehlenswert ist zum Beispiel ein Ausflug zum Restaurant "De Otterskooi", bei dem direkt mit dem Boot angelegt werden kann. Auch "Elly´s Beach en Bistro" Richtung Wanneperveen ist toll! Wir waren mit einer Familie in der Lodge, zwei Erwachsene und zwei Kinder. Es wäre durchaus noch Platz für weitere Mitreisende vorhanden, da es insgesamt drei vollwertige Schlafzimmer und zwei Badezimmer gibt. Das Haus ist insgesamt sehr sauber, mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet und überragend ausgestattet (z.B. Senseo-Kaffeemaschine und Filter-Maschine, Geschirrspülmaschine, riesige Auswahl an Geschirr, usw.). Absolutes Highlight sind die Gastgeber Marie und Bert. Vielen Dank nochmal für Alles Euch beiden!!! Zusammenfassend kann die Lodge vorbehaltlos weiter empfohlen werden. Wir werden bestimmt auch nochmal wieder kommen!

Gorgeous holiday delight

Bert and Marie built a little piece of paradise in Giethoorn. Their little Lodge was cozy and charming. You are surrounded by nature and beauty! The couple live at the main house stationed at front and despite the close quarters they gave us all the privacy we need; We loved having them as neighbors! The first night they took us on a little boating excursion around the "old town" where it's untouched with tourism! Bikes and boat are available at very reasonable costs! We didn't get to use the boat only because Bert offered to be our personal captain ;-) Although he made it clear that the boat and canoes were available to us if we desired. Cities close by are pretty easily accessible, especially Steenwijk. We highly recommend it to anyone wanting some peace and quiet in this quaint town! If you like biking, boating, and sincere, kind people this is the place for you. As an additional note, Bert and Marie hire a cleaning lady that does a stunning job at keeping this property emaculately clean.

Beautiful little escape close to Giethoorn and Steenwijk

Awesome place and was treated to a boat tour of the old village on our arrival. We had use of bikes, kayaks, a canoe and a punter w motor. We went there​ on our honeymoon and Sandy and I loved staying at the lodge. Had a suana, lovely deck on the canals. We so enjoyed our stay took several cards for our friends. Bert and Marie were great hosts. Look forward to returning​ there on our anniversary sometime.

Fantastic Holiday Home In Superb Location that will give you an unbeatable holiday

Bert & Maria are lovely owners who helped make our stay so good. The holiday home is clean, and has everything and more you could want from a holiday home, and is chocolate box beautiful as well, being thatched & with a small protected patio area. The house is located close to the smaller old village, just 10 mins away in the day boat or canoe, the main village takes about 25 mins in the boat to get to. Giethoorn is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a very good reason, it is jaw dropping beautiful! With a small number of nice restaurants in the main village, close to the holiday home is The 'Lindenhoff' 2 Michelin starred restaurant. We had a fantastically relaxed holiday at the end of May beginning of June, the weather was really warm, and there were not too many other tourists. If you don't like a holiday at this holiday home and in this area I will eat my hat! Many Thanks to Bert & Maria

Urlaub bei perfekten Gastgebern

Wir möchten uns auf diesem Weg bei Bert und Marie bedanken. Wir hatten wunderbare Tage in Giethoorn, besonders weil wir uns so willkommen gefühlt haben. Das Haus ist gut aufgeteilt, sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, sehr sauber und alles was man braucht ist vorhanden. Besonders hat uns die Terasse am Wasser gefallen, die wir gerne öfter genutzt hätten. Aber der Blick aus dem großen Terassenfenster hat uns entschädigt. Wir konnten uns mit allen Fragen und Bitten an Bert und Marie wenden. Es wurde uns immer gut weitergeholfen. Ein besonderes Highlight war die "Punterfahrt" mit Bert durch die Abenddämmerung,..... Wir hatten auch viel Spass bei unseren Fahrten mit einem der Boote die wir nutzen durften. Weil wir unseren etwas älteren Hund dabei hatten, haben wir leider nicht die Möglichkeit einer Fahrradtour genutzt, aber vielleicht klappt das ja bei unserem nächsten Aufenthalt. Für uns war das der perfekte Platz für einen entspannenden Urlaub. Danke euch beiden!!

Nice guest house...but disappointed by lack of boat as described

The guest house inside is exactly as shown in the pictures. Very nice, clean and comfortable. Well represented. However, it is not clear in the listing that the lodge is in the middle of an active work area with a work barn and boat rebuilding activities. Prior to booking I inquired regarding the availability and use of a boat. I was told that a boat was available directly behind the lodge for our use (with only petrol expense). However, upon arrival we were informed the boat was unavailable for our use. The only reason we chose this cabin was because of the availability of the boat as there is no reason to stay here without access to a boat. Without a boat one must drive to access restaurants and entertainment...and boat rentals... The intrigue of the area is directly related to the canals and water activities. One should expect to spend 80-100 Euros per day for boat rental in town. We were disappointed in regards to this additional and unexpected expense.
