Ptarmigan House is a shabby chic 3bdrm/3bath, private cottage-style home located just minutes from downtown Homer, AK. All amenities a vacationing couple, or family would need or want are here, including new appliances, and a new BBQ grill on a deck with panoramic views of Kachemak Bay. Every detail has been attended to, including La Creuset cookware, and beautiful pottery dishware in the kitchen. Beautiful 4 poster beds outfitted with ultra-high thread count sheets, and new mattresses will ensure a peaceful nights rest. Flat panel TV's and an X-Box 360 gaming system are on hand for those times you just want to kick back and relax. Comfy leather couches and hand painted furniture in the living areas guarantee your stay will be relaxing and stress free. The house is impeccably clean for the most discriminating guests. The 3100 sq. ft. home, built in 2009 will sleep 8-10 comfortably. If you are looking for the ultimate home away from home, then the Ptarmigan House is it!

This was an incredible cottage. The view was outstanding! Could hardly believe how beautiful the scenery was from many rooms in the cottage. The decor was beautiful and well thought out. Furniture was comfortable and kitchen well appointed. It is also close to restaurants, shops, coffee house and the Homer spit. I would definitely stay here again.

This place was absolutely gorgeous. One of my most favorite VRBOs ever. The weather in Homer was beautiful, so we took advantage of the view and the back deck. We did not want to leave.

Amazing View and accommodations. Location was perfect going to and from the Spit. Very comfortable home: space for everyone after spending the day on the boat or trail. Beautiful and spacious yard. We saw eagles, ptarmigan, and moose from the yard.

Best Homer Experience

We had all we needed for a family of 7 and a baby! The view was amazing and we got to see the resident Moose! The beds were comfortable and the house was clean. The living room had cozy places for all of us to sit, which made it so nice to hang out at the end of the day. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We love Homer.

Stunning views

My family of six adults (mom/dad & 2 adult kids spouses) enjoyed this home, the views are breathtaking, the bedrooms being spread out over 3 floors was nice, each couple had their own space and bathroom. One evening we were graced by a mama moose and her baby in the yard, and again the next morning. My only complaint was the lack of blackout shades, but we made it work thanks to what I assume was a previous guest leaving black garbage bags with tape in one of the cabinets. This house has everything you need and worked great for my family.

Beautiful Scenery

As soon as you drive in, you notice the beauty. The moment you walk in youre captured by majestic views of the mountains. The house was clean, organized, and had everything you needed. The spit is only a few minutes away and theres also other cute shops by the location. The property manager also has great communication skills. I will come back!! It was an amazing experience!

Million dollar View!

My family was just wowed by this beautiful home! The views were outstanding and everything looked like it was straight out of "House Beautiful". Decorated in a fun eclectic way. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen/dining area amazing. We had so much sightseeing we wanted to do, but honestly , it was hard to leave this lovely home!! Highly recommend!

Beautiful home with a gorgeous view!

This house was amazing with a gorgeous view! I could have stayed there longer and would love to go back. For planning purposes, if you are traveling with someone with mobility issues, the main floor bedroom was great but the bed was too high for my in-laws which meant they had to use the space in the lower level of the house. I would definitely book this house again though and highly recommend it to others!

Wowzers!

Everything was amazing and the home is even more beautiful than the pictures. Kitchen was a blast to cook in - loaded with everything needed. Beds, pillows, towels all comfortable. View incredible. Seating areas abound. Lots of character and charm. Would recommend this beautiful home to anyone. Wowzer!

Simply Incredible

We were blown away by the location of this property. The sweeping views of Kachemak from the deck out front and from the main area in the front of the house was simply incredible. The property was immaculate and exactly as the listing stated. We loved the personal touch of goodies from local vendors. This cottage provided everything, and more, that we needed for our wonderful stay in Homer.

Magical

We stayed at this incredible property for two nights. I did not want to leave. Besides the incredible views, the property is nicely maintained and beautifully decorated. It was a place that will calm your soul! We took our Alaska trip to honor my husbands last wishes. Nothing could have made this any better. We were greeted by a warm welcoming note left by the hosts. They somehow even arranged for mama moose and her twins to visit our first morning on the deck. Again! Magical!! I will be back for a more extended stay. Thank you Roxanne!!

Heavenly Homer Weekend

Homer did not disappoint, and the Kachemak cottage was the perfect place to stay to enjoy all Home has to offer. The cottage is beautifully decorated, fully appointed, offers space for many visitors, and has a view of Kachemak bay that is unbeatable. Highly recommend using this as your home base when visiting Homer.

Exceeded expectations

Photos don't do this place justice. The view is incredible, the home was more spacious than expected, and completely spotless clean. It was the perfect spot to relax after a few long days exploring in and around Homer. The hosts were prompt with all communications. I would absolutely stay at this place and book with these hosts again.

Easy to give this property 5 stars!

I do my reviews specific to my stay. So the basics was a 2 night stay with my wife and grade school son with 3 out of state family members that included 2 teenagers and their Grandma. We didn't intend to make many meals at the rental but we did want to bring our takeout back to the house for eating. The house was great for us with space for everyone with comfortable beds, clean throughout and well equipped. We stayed upstairs with our son, teenagers slept in the daylight basement room and Grandma slept on the main floor bedroom. The view was very enjoyable, relaxing and allowed us to enjoy the elevation. The weather was good so views were great. All of the features such as the washer and dryer helped us clean clothes after a day out. Kitchen was well equipped and allowed us to prep our sandwiches, heat up left overs and keep our cool groceries in the fridge.

Amazing Home

This home is beautiful. The beds are so comfortable and it has all the amenities you need. We mostly stayed in and cooked and had everything we needed. But most importantly was the view. This is a million dollar view. I grew up in Homer and this just wowed me.

Incredible Property

The views here cannot be beat! We could barely pull ourselves off the deck. The beds are super comfortable and the appointments in this house the best we’ve ever seen. (and we travel extensively). The house is impeccably clean and everything you could want is provided. Fun to watch the pheasant and Steller Jays in the yard. All 4 of us just loved this place!
