Great Location, Great House, Great Host - Will be returning!

Really enjoyed our stay at Harbour Island. The host was very responsive; the house was just the right fit for our family; the location was right where we wanted. Plenty to see and do, or just beach bum away the day.

Amazing beach stay!

House was amazing! Back porch views of marsh and sunset were wonderful. All the amenities of the island plus the golf cart with the house left plenty to do for everyone.

Ladies Beach Weekend

We had a wonderful time. Easy access to the beach and ocean. House was great - had all we needed. Beautiful marsh views and sunset. Can’t wait to go again.

Beach Getaway

2nd time staying here!perfect location- Michael is wonderful host-beautifully decorated with towels and linens provided - kitchen needs met -Plenty of space for sleeping and relaxation space. Bonus is a golf cart!!

Beautiful views on Harbor Island

The house worked really well for 2 families with teens. The views of the marsh sunsets were spectacular. My only caution would be that the beach had mud between the sand and the water at low tide. Beach walks were lovely (tons of turtle nests), there's a golf cart with the house, and the community pool is refreshing.

Absolute 5 star stay! Looking forward to a return visit!

My family and I use VRBO for almost every vacation stay we have- usually two a year, all over the country. This is one of the best experiences we've ever had. We had the most relaxing stay! This rental is an absolute BARGAIN. The location is perfect, everything is comfortable, tons of space for a family, and the porch alone was worth the nightly rate! Use of the golf cart to come and go was wonderful and the host was one of the very best, friendliest, most helpful, and most communicative we've ever had. We definitely hope to revisit Harbor Island again and this house would far and away be our first choice of stay!

Harbor Island

Our family had an amazing time at the Harbor Island vacation property. It was incredibly accommodating and had everything we needed for a memorable stay. Michael was highly responsive and ensured all our questions and concerns were addressed promptly. The location of the property was fantastic. Situated near the beach, we enjoyed easy access to any of the 7 beach access areas, although the golf cart was a big plus! Additionally, the property was conveniently close to local restaurants and the town of Beaufort, making it an ideal spot for our family vacation. One of the highlights of our stay was spotting an alligator in the backyard marsh area. It zadded an exciting and unique element to our beach experience. The fact that we could witness wildlife in its natural habitat was truly remarkable.

Great location, needs attention to cleaning

The location of the property is great. The use of the golf cart made it a lot of fun. The cleanliness of the place needs some work. It wasn’t just stuff that was missed in one cleaning, it had to missed a multiple of times. The fact that the guests have the washer and dryer full when they leave is a little concerning because people could just put towels in the drier without being washed. Great place but the cleanliness ruined it for us,

Amazing sunsets

Great property! Well equipped with everything you need. Sunset views from this house are spectacular. Very easy access to the beach. Owner was always available and quickly responds to any inquiries. Had a great family vacation!

Perfect beach house for active older kids.

Close to the beach and a tidal creek in the backyard for catching bait. Perfect for those who enjoy beach activities and fishing.

Nice house on harbor island

Stayed here with my husband and 2 small children. The house was very nice. Beds comfortable and house was fairly well appointed. Very nice to have a golf cart to get around the island. Layout of house was comfortable and appreciated the cedar entryway. The beach location here is not stellar due to the several condemned houses (due to hurricane Matthew) taking up the beach. There is really only room for 1 maybe 2 families there. However, thanks to the golf cart this was solved by going to a different area. Appliances in the home are older but fully functional and we didn’t have issues. If you’ve never stayed in Harbor Island before be prepared you will have a 20 minute drive to the

Great week. Great house.

Great location on the marsh side. Golf cart was an added bonus even though the beach access would be just a few minute walk. House was clean and cool. Lots of space. Owner was super communicative prior to and during the week. Answered questions, provided suggestions and ensured our stay was a great one.

Perfect for relaxing

We had a great time staying here. Even though it was a holiday weekend, the beach was never crowded. We even had dolphins swimming near the shore while we were at the beach. The golf cart allowed us to explore the island while never having to get in a car. My only suggestion would be to move the grill to the top floor balcony to be closer to the kitchen. And replace the clothes dryer.

The owners are wonderful people who were there to answer any questions and give us advice about the area. The house was clean and had all the little things a family may need when cooking or hanging out around the house. It was a short walk to the beach. It's the perfect beach vacation for families.

Beautiful weather all week

This is our second visit to Harbor Island. We had tried for 2 years to get a house again on the beach and never could find one available or so we thought. We found this lovely house on the marsh side, but really it was so close to the beach. The houses that were on the beach have been destroyed by hurricane Matthew in 2016. That's why no houses were available. We were delighted with this decision. The sunrises over the marsh were stunning. The nature all around us was breathtaking. We loved the layout of the house with the bedrooms on the second floor and the living space on the top floor. The back top deck was beautiful. It was our understanding from the owner that it was just redone. No wood, just big beautiful tile and sturdy black iron railing all around. We would all sit outside at night and look at the gazillion stars in the sky. The house has all the modern conveniences inside with all of nature right out our back door. The close proximity to the pool and beach made this the ideal location for our families. We would recommend this house for anyone looking to get back to nature and away from the hustle of the crowded beaches. We watched the sunrise, relaxed at the beach or pool, then back home for home cooked meals and nights on the back deck. It was just perfect! The owner was easy to reach and very accommodating. We liked the personal sunrooms off the back bedrooms. These were freshly enclosed so it was still a little rough, but nonetheless, the views were stunning.

For Us 5 Stars!

Macro location Between 2 of our favorite places: Beaufort and Hunting Island, S.P. Great for a paddler and/or cyclist (great ride to Fripp Island from here). Micro Location I liked the vibe of the development. It's nice but not overly uptight for the typical non-partying family-oriented guest. Residents told us the beach is never overly crowded. The beach here was way better than I expected and there are nice semi-wildish areas on either end of it. Although the place includes a reasonable, seaworathy 1-person kayak, I am a paddling snob and circumnavigated my tippy but fast boat around Harbor Island (about a 9 mile trip). Lots of paddling options for serious paddlers. I also paddled the short trip around the point to Hunting Island where admission is free if accessed by kayak. Beach changed with hurricane and in one spot houses are now inundated by tide. Not nice but interesting to see the radical changes that occur on beac Harbor Rec center has nice, has a nice, cozy feeling. Pool is not heated and was chilly for the kids in early April. They did play in the surf. Marsh views were great and we saw lots of wildlife including gators (small on this island). Gay's Seafood is down the road if you want fresh off the boat seafood. The House/Property - We liked the house a lot. Living space/kitchen is on top, bedrooms on next level down, and parking/breezeway below. Kitchen was plenty nice for us, and living areas were comfortable. We are not TV people and didn't use the TV's. I did see a little dirt/dust in a lower kitchen cabinet. I didn't see any bugs inside at all. If you are OCD/need everything perfect and/or are a clean freak then you might not be happy here. I didn't think it was anywhere as bad as the one negative review indicated. We liked the layout and living spaces. There is an open deck on the top floor and a roofed/shaded deck accessible by both adult bedrooms below. Decking on the top deck is weathered and we had a couple of folks get splinters. Decks had hurricane damage but a contractor came by to look at them during our stay. But if used with caution and common sense they should be just fine. Probably they will be fixed soon. Golf cart was handy for quick beach trips and all the appliances worked fine. Good pressure and nice hot water in showers. Outdoor showers had been hammered by the hurricane but hoses and spigots were plentiful for washing off kids, suits, and gear. Nice yard to hang out in and view the Marsh.
