Incredible sunsets on the Neuse River for your family in a home that has amenities! Sleeping up to 16, our property has a private infinity pool, hot tub, tennis court, basketball court, and ramp/dock area for your small boat should you decide to bring or rent one nearby. New Bern offers many historic attractions while a 20 minute ferry ride and 30 minute drive lands you at Morehead City and Atlantic Beach on the Atlantic Ocean. While we are remote, many guests are happy to never leave the property. We have many families where the grandparents, parents, and kids enjoy vacation together but our property is spread out so that individuals still have their own space.

The three story main house offers a living space on the first level with a fully equipped two-stove (one gas, one electric) kitchen, dining room, office, living room, bathroom and laundry room.

Second floor consists of one master suite with a queen bed and bath, a second room with a queen bed that shares a bathroom with the third room with two twin beds. A balcony connects the main house with the carriage house (apartment over garages) that has two rooms, one queen and two twins with kitchenette connected by a two-sink bath and walk-in closet.

Third story has one bath, one queen bedroom and one bedroom with two twins.

The pool guest house has one queen bed, kitchenette, and bath with a balcony overlooking the infinity pool and hot tub.

The pool deck is set up for hanging out with plenty of furniture, a music system, a gym, and all connects to the tennis/basketball court.

We are often asked if we host weddings. We do allow weddings with a guest limit of 75 and find that the cost for rental equipment, catering, and event fee etc average around $30,000 (photography not included.) Message our property manager for more information. We will send you wedding photos from previous weddings to give you an idea of what the event could be.

Neuse river

Family of all ages loved it, plenty of room to spread out, great kitchen and barbecue for the cooks, pool, tennis, good fishing etc.,, in an incredibly beautiful setting.

Breathtakingly Beautiful Place

The accommodations were wonderful from beginning to end. Any question that I had was quickly answered and Renee was so kind. Everything is there for you and you really don’t have to leave the property to enjoy a relaxing week.

An excellent family (multi generational) vacation spot

This property is accurately described on VRBO. The property manager is very responsive to questions and small requests such as a wire brush for cleaning the grill which was delivered in about 15 minutes. The grounds are beautiful and all interior spaces were spotlessly clean. Lots of oohs and has as the family arrived and surveyed the property. You won't be disappointed. Also, the view from the main house porch as well as the pool deck is spectacular.

Fantastic Family Vacation!

Fabulous vacation! We had 3 families, 16 people total, ranging in ages 15 to 60ish.... Everyone had an amazing time. Only 1 family did some exploring and left the property. The rest of us never left, except to go food shopping. Location is beautiful, very quiet. We had amazing weather and enjoyed the pool and hot tub everyday that we were there. Sunsets were amazing. Renee was wonderful and she was always available to answer any questions we had. Definitely one of the best Family Reunion vacations we ever had!

Wonderful stay

We enjoyed our week at the rental in Arapahoe. It rained 5 out of the 7 days we were there, and we still had a great time! There was plenty to do on the property with the basketball/tennis court and pool. It was also a very peaceful & relaxing location. The property manager, Renee Wasula, was amazing to work with. Anytime we needed anything, we could text her, and she was quick to respond and very helpful. She was so nice and knowledgeable about the property! New Bern & Oriental were 20-30 minutes away. Oriental was a quaint town that had a coffe shop (The Bean) that we went to & M & M’s, which is a restaurant that we ate at twice. New Bern Was a neat area to walk around with great restaurants and boutique shops. So much great wildlife also! The dock at the house was fun to go out on and watch stingrays, jelly fish & other fish. There was a family of foxes that we saw a couple times also. I would highly recommend this place to stay!

Unbelievably fantastic.......

What an awesome place!! We have rented many summer homes in the past for our family but this one was so much more than we expected. The mere expanse of the property is amazing. The lap/infinity pool/hot tub area is so extensive even with several adults using it, it never felt crowded. The pre-set music stations on the sound system in the work-out room (also great to have) was a great feature. The teens spent hours on the basketball/tennis court - with lights for evening use. The rocking chairs on the front porch were used almost 24/7. The view never gets old. Renee was helpful and quick to respond to our inquires. Even after we reported accidentally disabling some electronic equipment, Renee responded in a kind way. Thank you for allowing our family to enjoy this amazing property.

Stunning Compound

This home on the Nuese River is incredible. Every detail was well thought-out and very well appointed. The home, carriage house, and pool house are complemented by the pool, tennis court, dock and incredible views. The property manager was great! Helpful & informative though unintrusive. Beautiful property right on the river

Plenty of room for a large group with abundant fishing right from the private dock. Swim in the pool, fish from the dock or just relax and enjoy the dolphins, jumping fish, red fox, tree frogs and more.

Amazing

This property is incredible. It really is an estate… so big and open, but meticulously maintained. Plenty of space for everyone…. We had 15 ages ranging 18 mos to 75, and everyone agreed to go ahead and book again next summer. The pool is like a resort pool, and the river is perfect for both viewing and playing. Finally, Renee was the best host I’ve ever had on VRBO. Totally in communication, made a special trip to help me figure out the outside fireplace (user error :)), had lots of recommendations and suggestions… just amazingly helpful and so nice and fun. My guess is that we will make this property our go to spot for years to come… can’t imagine a better place for a family of our size. Book it today.

Beautiful place, but improvements can be made

Beautiful views, great compound for a big group, all the rooms were larger and more comfortable than expected. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but encountered a few issues that we wanted to make sure other renters are aware of. -The Infinity Pool was not functioning properly, as the outer basin was very dirty and not usable. As we understood it, there was a larger structural issue that caused the pool to leak water and would require major repairs. We appreciated that a temporary repair was done so we could use the main part of the pool. We were given compensation for the pool, however we would have appreciated being forewarned. It would not have changed our plans, but I have to think this was known to some extent prior to our arrival. In general, the house and pool area were not clean. Most of the beds had dog hair from prior guests; one bed had bugs in it (not bed bugs); many areas under furniture or counters had crumbs/dust/food; swimming pool had debris (mostly cans) at the bottom. We understand that the prior housekeeper had been let go and that the property manager and her family did their best to clean. We appreciate their effort but it was clearly not done by professionals, which we expected with the cleaning fee. We did some cleaning of our own and re-washed all of the sheets and were fine. Trash storage is not reasonable for a house of this size. There are two good-size bins at the main house. We had 13 adults (and 3 toddlers) for a week, rarely left for meals and probably needed four bins. This caused trash bags to pile up, and unfortunately I doubt we left much room for the guests who stayed after us. In general the Property Manager was very responsive during the stay…but after we left the tone changed and we were accused of leaving the house a mess and trying to “steal” rounds of golf from the local country club. To our knowledge none of this is accurate, but it left a sour taste in our mouth. Unfortunately I do not think we would be welcomed back. Overall, we had a great time, it is a beautiful place if you are looking to hunker down and you are ok being farther from attractions. While we likely will not be back, we do hope that others looking to rent are aware of a few of the obstacles that we encountered.

Great Family getaway r

This is the second time we stayed at this property and enjoyed our time immensely. There was plenty of room and activities for our multi-generational family. We swam in the pool, paddle boarded in the river, played basketball and pickeballl, fished and crabbed. This is truly a compound with enough space to gather as a family and spread out when needed. Perfect place for families

This is a fantastic property. The process was so easy and the property manager was so helpful and quick to respond to any questions. This property has something for everyone to do, so many choices. Everything was as advertised and seeing it in person was even better! Will definitely return for another stay!

Wonderful Getaway

The pictures do not do this place justice--it was absolutely great! Everything seems new and clean, the view is spectacular, and eating breakfast while overlooking the water really can't be beat. Also so nice that there is a gym available. We will be back!

Beautiful property, but disappointed about maintenance issues

I can understand why this property routinely gets 5 star ratings – it is a lovely setting with spacious accommodations. But, our visit was plagued with a long list of maintenance issue such as: - On at least half of the days we were there, the water went out in the Pool House and stayed out for hours. -Upon our arrival, we found all four of the outdoor trash receptacles overflowing with trash. This was partially resolved on our second day when one of the trashcans was emptied. - When we tried to load the dishwasher, the top tray collapsed. We were told previous renters had broken it, and it was rigged to hopefully last through our week-long visit. The rigging did not hold, so no dishwasher the entire time. - After two visits from workmen, the hot tub was working by late on our second day. - In the main house, over half of the overhead/ceiling light bulbs were burned out on the first floor. Someone came over to replace the burned out lights our second day; the recessed lights in the kitchen were not able to be replaced. -The window frames, equipment, and ceiling in the exercise room had numerous spiders, webs, and egg sacks. A housekeeper was sent over to clean it, but enough of the infestation remained that no one in our group felt comfortable using it. -The gas stove in the kitchen is listed in the instruction book as “Use at your own risk.” -There were other annoyances such as paint cans in the den, trash on the floor in the carriage house, open containers of left-over food in the fridge, no outside lights working at pool house the first night, a nonworking fireplace, and a clogged bathtub drain. I was told that a family member spoke disrespectfully to the property manager and several staff members. He denies this, saying he simply listed all of the issues we were having and requested that someone come over to see that we weren’t exaggerating. The response to our letter of complaint at the end of our stay was disappointing with no acknowledgment of the many legitimate maintenance issues. We were now accused of breaking the dishwasher. Even though we have an email giving our small affair the “OK” before we arrived, we were told we broke the house rules by having people for lunch -14 additional people for 2 ½ hours - for my mother’s Celebration of Life. We are not welcome to rent this property again. No problem as we are not interested. We did not get the 5-star property that we paid for - overpriced for our experience.

Great Place!

The house and property were amazing and much larger than anticipated. The pictures don’t do it justice. The sunsets are indescribable and the dolphins swimming nearby were wonderful to watch. The pool, hot tub, tennis courts, basketball court, etc... keep the whole family entertained all weekend. Great place for a family getaway/reunion. Loved it!

Incredible Vacation!

This was the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at! It was perfect for our friends and family and provided the space we all needed while all being on the same property. We saw dolphins off the dock which was so cool! The pool was amazing and everything was incredible! Would love to go back!

It's the perfect place to settle in with the family and enjoy good times together without having to leave to go anywhere - although cool stuff is all around us within a hour's reach. The pool keeps the kids busy for hours, the surround sound music inside and out provides extra atmosphere if you find the quiet "too" quiet. The tennis and basketball court keeps the older kids busy and the gym has a couple of items to give you the exercise you need. Bicycles are available for rent nearby if you want to ride on the local, non-busy streets. Boat rentals/charters are available nearby. Bow to Stern of Oriental NC is who we recommend.

The best seat in the house is the rocking chair on the front porch. Enjoy coffee in the morning while watching the wildlife or sipping your evening drink while watching the sun set across the Neuse River. Mr. and Mrs. Fox occasionally give you a show or the dolphins passing by. Our resident eagle will occasionally show off with his super dive for morning breakfast.
