Nice home in the mountains

Beautiful area, found what we needed at the little general store, kitchen fully stocked with supplies, comfortable beds, we will be back.

Great home & hosts!

This home is beautiful and serene, and Darren & Kevin are great hosts. They were super welcoming and communicative and made sure that we were well set up for a relaxing weekend. This was our second stay at their place and we would happily go back any time.

We had a wonderful week at the cabin. The cabin was modern, clean and surrounded by beautiful trees. The river and town is just a short walk away. Very private and quiet. Looking forward to our next visit

Wow, what an amazing home!

Well that was one of our best family trips ever! The house was so beautiful, clean and amazing location. We would book again in a heartbeat. Super grateful to the helpful host. Thank you for wonderful memories for our family.

Cabin met our needs. Plenty of room for 6 adults. We did have a Kia telluride and did have some issues getting backed up in the driveway.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin with our family. The cabin was clean & had everything we needed. The Wi-if worked really well. The highway behind can be a bit noisy when your on the deck. The driveway is steep & narrow.

Quiet, peaceful, close to HWY 49 but road noise was minimal.

Lack of A/C was problematic. Driveway presented a challenge. I suggest that a little tree trimming and reinforcing the road itself would be helpful for the future. Also, warn us about sirens. There was a call out for volunteer search and rescue but wasnt sure if evac was needed. Had power go out one day, but was back on by 3:30 PM.

Wonderful Cabin in Sierra City.

Wonderful property and very well stocked. Nice location with a short walk to town. Nothing was needed during our stay. The driveway can be a little steep so we generally parked half way up and used the stairs. We all need the exercise.

Relaxing

This was a quick getaway weekend for our family. There are definitely some pros and cons about our experience. None of the cons were major, just a few suggestions to improve the experience. The pros: The kitchen is beautiful, plenty of room for cooking and dining. The hardwood floors are beautiful. The master bedroom is huge. The house was clean and the laundry/mudroom was helpful for leaving wet boots and clothing in to dry. Beds were comfortable and heated blankets were welcome. The scenery was great and we took plenty of walks down past the campground and up the forest service roads. It was nice and quiet since it was winter. Overall a nice, quiet getaway. There is internet service at the house. Besides our first evening, we were comfortable for the remainder of the weekend. The not so pro’s: Communication was frustrating. I messaged the owners with a few questions multiple times. I did not get any answers until two weeks later, the evening before our arrival. When we arrived (evening, winter, snowing and in the 30’s), the house was 40 degrees inside. The main heating source, a gas fireplace was set to 45 degrees in the living room. The bedrooms and bathrooms were significantly colder. Since there is no central heating system, it took several hours for the house to heat up to a reasonable temperature (60 degrees). It made unpacking and dinner quite chilly. I understand conserving energy, but perhaps it could be arranged for the heat to be bumped up the afternoon guests arrive, I don’t feel like that is unreasonable. There is no garbage service in Sierra City. The options given to us were 1) Pack your garbage home. 2) Make a dump run, which has exclusive hours and days. 3) Use the campground dumpster, which is not open in the winter, so not an option for us. Packing a smelly, possibly leaking garbage bag home is not ideal. Sometimes guests are not going directly home and would have to find a place to dump it on their way, leading to illegal dumping. A suggestion that the owners provide a bear box with a garbage can and arrange to have someone make a dump run once a week, or as needed. There were many instructions placed around the house, it would be helpful if they were all located in a central binder. We found two different sets of check out instructions, with different information on each. The master bedroom and bunk bed room both have glass bedroom doors leading to the living area.

Splendid stay in Sierra City

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Sierra City. The Autumn colors were wonderful and the home cozy and complete with all the essentials. The owners left detailed instructions on items related to the home and area. The location of the cabin was fantastic and a few steps from the river. We loved our stay and plan on returning again soon!

RELAXING!

We desperately needed a close getaway. Husband wanted forest setting.. Finally picked this super cute WILD PLUMB property.. Description was spot on. Owners were so great. So quiet..and I loved my morning coffee with the same squirrels every morning chatting at each other. This is one that we felt so comfortable in that we can call it home away from home and will stay again!

Weekend visit to Downieville and Mt. Hough

The property is easy to find, space is large and well appointed. Owners are detail oriented and keep the place nice. They are quick to respond and communicative and generally very nice folks! Would stay again. Thanks for having us :-)

Annual Trip to Sierra City

This was the first time staying at this property for an annual July trip to Sierra City. Everything about the cabin was perfect for us. The kitchen area is great for gathering around and the island works great for spreading out appetizers. The living room area was comfortable for kicking back and talking about our day or reading a book. The beds were comfortable and leaving the windows open at night you could hear the river. A big plus to this property is how clean and tidy everything was on our arrival. Thank you Kevin and Darren we will be back!

Clean and comfortable

Five stars would have been given if this property had reliable cell or Internet service. With Verizon as our service provider, we were somehow able to receive one call and three text messages but unable to call out or use the internet. The home has a convenient location for access to town and other recreational areas. The amenities of a dishwasher, washer/dryer, cable TV, makes this home very desirable. In addition to all this the owners are very accommodating and friendly. I only hope it will be available to rent on a future getaway. The lack of window coverings on the glass doors in the master bedroom and bunk bed bedroom enhances the light and open feeling. We really enjoyed our trip to Sierra City.

Best cabin yet !

With so many choices out there sometimes you just "take that chance" with this place there's no "chance" it's 100% the best place we have ever stayed! the king bed was absolutely the most comfortable bed away from home we have ever had. The place was so extremely clean, very will appointed and decorated. The gas fireplace was wonderful, the cabin had everything anyone could ask for. I could go on but in short there was not one thing that I could complain about. And the area around the cabin is right out of a picture book, you simply gave to go to understand the beauty of this area. We will be back and when we do we will not look any further than this property, it's the best.

Serenity at its finest.

My wife Brittany and I decided on a trip that we wanted to go on for some time to go on hikes and adventures. We found a lot of really neat trails and features like water falls and rivers, mountain peaks, the PCT, the charming city all nearby and some of which was just out side our door. It was the perfect trip for both of us. I even found out that there are dozens of great golf locations within 25 minutes of the place. I will be returning soon with the guys to have a week of fun on the links. Definitely will be returning. 👍🏼👍🏼

Very comfortable home with all the conveniences

My family and I stayed in this cabin during the last week of June, 2016. The house is well insulated and has good air flow. Even though the temperature outside in the daytime was hot, the house stayed quite cool and pleasant. The kitchen is well equipped, with just about every appliance one can ask for. Plenty of room in the bedrooms, and kitchen is very roomy as well, with plenty of space to work with several people at a time. Everything was provided, sheets, towels, blankets, and more. A real home away from home! We will stay here again, definitely.

Great Cabin!

This place served as a base for us so we could visit friends in Downieville. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay in the area. I have rented homes on VRBO for many years now. There is usually a hiccup or two with staying at vacation rentals, but not this place. It had everything we needed, and it's clean to boot. Bathrooms are nice and big and modern. We cooked all our meals here, the spacious island coming in handy to organize our supplies. Beds are not too soft, nor too hard. We took advantage of being close to the Gold Lakes area and were able to fit in a hike into our visit. We liked the simplicity of the cabin, goes with the forest that surrounds it.
