This beautiful studio is in an oceanfront resort & spa that has a beautiful beach, pool, hot tub, lounge chairs, full gym, spa, and everything else you would expect at a luxury resort. We even have real Mayan Ruins across the street!

Our guest suite includes: Your own private balcony with table and chairs on it - King Size Bed - Convertible Full size Sleep/Sofa - Private Bath - Kitchenette - Large Refrigerator - Microwave - Toaster Oven - Coffee Maker - Two Burner Hot Plate - Silverware - Dishes - Cable TV - Free Wifi - Hair Dryer - Iron and Washer and Dryer free of charge!

The floors are all marble, and it has a cathedral ceiling, air conditioning that you control, a safe, linens, and towels for the bath, beach and pool.

Your balcony overlooks the pool area, beach and the gorgeous ocean. The views are amazing! In the morning you can watch the sunrise. At night you can see the lights from the island of Cozumel across the sea!

There are 2 restaurants in the resort, both with full bars. One of the bars has a swim up counter in the pool. The lobby restaurant also serves a breakfast buffet in the mornings. Both restaurants serve food and beverages poolside and on the beach.

About our neighborhood:
We are in the middle of Playacar Fase 1, which is a very safe, gated, beachfront neighborhood at the south end of Playa del Carmen. Playacar is divided into two phases. We live in Phase 1, which is very small and private in comparison to Phase 2. It is mostly multi-million dollar single family houses except for one other condominium and one hotel, both of which are at the entrance to our neighborhood.

We are about a 10 minute walk along the beach or our private road to 5th Avenue, which is locally known as La Quinta. There you will find hundreds of restaurants. They serve everything from tacos or ceviche to French cuisine. The atmospheres range from sand-in-your-toes to high-end, fine dining. You can spend as little or as much as you want. If you sit at one of the outdoor restaurants, you may be treated to live music by the strolling Mariachis.

We have a full time manager that lives right in Playa. He takes care of all of our property and has been with us for 10 years. All of our guests thinks he is great, and so do we!

Playa Vacation

I rented this unit to be with my children and grandchildren who were also staying in this development. The photos do not do it justice, as it was actually much better than I expected. I love the community and enjoyed daily walks into Playa. The staff were all delightful and helpful, and we very much enjoyed being somewhere that was not an all inclusive, but yet had some of the basic services that you would find at an all inclusive. The guests were also lovely and friendly. Having said all of these wonderful things about our stay in Playa, I would like to strongly advise anyone visiting Mexico to avoid purchasing any drugs at the pharmacies. Our family had a very bad experience, which was near fatal. If you google "Mexican pharmacies selling illicit drugs", you will find lots of information on this. Just remember to pack all of your own medications.

We stayed in a studio unit that was wonderful. Great views, wonderful unit with artwork on the walls, nice small kitchen, washer and dryer, good bathroom - no complaints whatsoever!

It was like strolling through a jungle on safe bricked path roads with the beautiful beach just a few steps away. If you like walking or jogging... this is the location. Plus, walking distance to bars/grills/restaurants etc. Very safe!

Great Location For US

Roomy studio floor plan. Comfortably equipped living area, kitchen,and bathroom. Very good views from small balcony and living area windows to the north and south. Grounds, lobby, and pool area are very well kept. Staff were extremely helpful on every occasion!! Third floor circular stairway (only) access is tight, but was not difficult for us. On-site restaurant was buffet only for breakfast. Meals are moderately priced. Adding free coffee in the Lobby would be a big plus. The condo was not clean/ready for us by early evening 6:00 PM arrival, perhaps due to traffic incident that delayed the housekeeper, but ready within an hour or so. Written instructions for WIFI connection would be useful.

Best trip with my daughter!

This was such a great place to stay. This time was just my daughter and I before she heads to college . Beautiful beach, pool, games, etcā€¦the food was good and the staff was helpful and friendly!! Will stay again!! My kids and I come to Mexico at least once a year sometimes twice. This is the best spot we have stayed so far! Thank you for hosting such a great condo!

Lovely Beach Stay

Sunset Fishermen is a great place to stay. Beach is beautiful, easy 10-15 minute walk or inexpensive cab ride to Playa del Carmen town. Their restaurant is good, especially their breakfast. They have activities throughout the day (we did a short guided bike ride, yoga, and coffee tasting-also enjoyed live music a few evenings). People are friendly. Our unit was clean and well maintained. We appreciated the large, complementary, filtered water jug in our unit.

Love this place!

Sunset Fishermen has been a favourite for years now and we continue to return to this same suite of owners Doug n Krystal. Krystal was excellent and fast responding to questions. The Resort has the best top notch staff so nice & friendly, favourites being Wendy at the swim up bar, Samarah, Noe & Daniel in the evening / beach restaurants. Really though all staff are always so nice and friendly and helpful, i wish i could remember all their names. Huge downfall was people reserving poolside chairs at 5:30am (we saw this timeline when we had an early exit) all are full by 7am and many times no one ever showed up to them during the day when signage clearly states no reserving chairs šŸ¤” would be nice if Sunset Fishermen paid attention to that more, like time stamp them like parking does LoL, no one shows up remove towel. We just finally gave up and shared a chair if found one availableā€¦

Little sunny corner of heaven

I rented four units at Sunset Fishermen for me and my extended family over the Christmas holiday. My partner and I stayed here and it was everything Iā€™d hoped for. The photos donā€™t do it justice ā€” the kitchen area also includes another entire counter and sink. We also really enjoyed our balcony off the main room: full sun from morning till about 2 PM. I liked that it was set back a bit compared to some of the other units at the resort which afforded us more privacy, but we still had an incredible panoramic view. Krystal was very responsive and helpful. The resort itself was lovely. The only hiccup was check in at the front desk, where I felt the staff were not as service-oriented as the property owners themselves. We felt a bit unwelcome upon our arrival. But the rest of the staff, especially the entertainment staff Adrian and Daniela, made every effort to keep us engaged without being overwhelming. All-in-all a great trip and all the property owners/managers were wonderful.

Great Beach! Thatā€™s it

The beach was great! This resort is old and needs major updating. The pool is small! The pool is literally falling apart. Pieces of tile were missing everywhere and people were placing pieces on the pool deck. Food at resort was below average and very expensive. $50 US for two at breakfast! Very little variety and way way over priced. Staff was nice. Bartenders couldnā€™t make a good drink. The room was ok. The sink in kitchenette was a bathroom sink and didnā€™t drain. The bed was by far the hardest bed we ever slept on. Horrible on pressure points. The ceiling fans lights came on by themself at 7:45 each night and went on and off and bright back and forth. Had to find the remote and mess with the light button. Super annoying. The shower pressure was beyond weak. The AC box above the the toilet was whistling and squeaking and the filters need attention- filthy! Other than this we had a great time! Wonā€™t be coming back!

The overall stay was 3 stars. Very quite and calm. Not too many people on the beach, which we liked. It would be helpful to know no elevators are available. Luggage all has to be carried. Mattress was the worst Iā€™ve ever slept on. I did reach out to property manager and he respond in a timely manner. But, nothing was done, just recommend to put sleeper mattress on bed. Which made things a little more tolerable, but itā€™s a queen size mattress on a king size bed. Pillows are heavy and uncomfortable. Shower pressure is horrible and the roller shade and sliding door curtains need to be addressed. Did not feel like much effort was out to making the beach setting more inviting. The couch was old and was not comfortable. The gym/spa is very basic and the wifi service is poor. The wifi service in room was not good either.

Nice condo

Great view of ocean thru large patio door and bedroom window. Very short walk to beach and pool. Pool nice and clean, hot tub very nice. Great sand on beach. Kitchen is okay, needs an update. Plenty of appliances. Enjoyed the included bottled water. Resort restaurant is just okay. Enjoyed the free bike use to get into town for groceries, etc. Hobey cat rides were awesome. Resort is half way between Playa Del Carmen and playacar. Can walk to both along the beach in 15-20 minutes. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

I am a US citizen but I have spent lots of time in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. My first trip here was in 1984, but I did not return again until 2004. In 2005 I decided to buy my first property here. Although I still have a camp and a home in Massachusetts, an apartment in Manhattan and a home and boat in South Florida, Playa is also my home. In addition to the local Mexicans and Mayans, you will meet people from all over the world here. We have had guests from countries like Finland, Germany, Holland, South Africa, Eastern Europe, Israel and others, as well as Mexico, the US and Canada. Everybody who comes here falls in love with the place, and I am sure you will too.

Even though I love the other places that I have lived in Playa, this place offers the best of two worlds. This resort has more of a private beach in a more secluded area than the other resorts, yet it is just a short walk to all of the excitement of La Quinta / 5th Avenue, including all of its restaurants, shops, clubs and cafes. Some people hardly ever leave the resort. Others, like me, go out almost every day and night. The staff here is also extremely friendly, very helpful and accommodating.

I fell in love with this place because of the spectacular beach and ocean right in my backyard, as well as the views from the balcony and inside the apartment. The powder soft sand between my toes and the beautiful blue ocean water is enough to make you want to stay forever!
