Light, airy, and cozy apartment, with separate bedroom, with Queen Size Bed, can become your oasis away from home. Whether you need to relax from a day of sightseeing, decompress from a stressful work experience, enjoy a necessary respite from life's challenges, or just kick back after visiting family, this comfortable apartment will help you find the peace and solace you seek. Located in a very quite residential area in Portland's west hills, you will enjoy both expansive vistas and the sense of a forested preserve around you. While only 10 minutes from the center of a large bustling city, you may awaken to the sight of deer sauntering outside your bedroom window.

The fully equipped kitchen is complete with a double-filter drinking water faucet, a Keurig coffee maker, Krupps Drip coffee maker, and a French Press coffee maker. An outdoor grill is available. You may wish to enjoy sitting or dining on the fully covered and secluded patio or enjoy the open patio/ rock garden with fire pit.

The Apartment now has all LED lighting, new high-efficiency and low-flow toilet and shower, recycling and composting available, and ensures that your stay has a low environmental impact. Cleaning supplies that are used to maintain the Apartment, and supplied personal cleaning supplies, are organic and allergy sensitive products.

Amenities include: off-street parking, high-speed WiFi, HDTV with 31+ local stations, Blue-ray/DVD player with Unlimited Netflix Included, linens and toiletries, hair dryer, and iron/board.. The neighborhood shopping area includes a natural food store, several restaurants, Sunday farmer's market, salons, banks, and a public library. National chain food stores are just a few minutes away.

There are private and public recreational facilities only 5-10 minutes away; day memberships are available.

(Limited to 2 adult occupants. There is only one queen-sized bed.)

NOTE: Bookings for 31 days or more are exempt from the lodging tax.

This is an awesome place to stay. It is very well kept, with a lot of amenities (minus laundry). The host and hostess were very friendly and the place was as described. It is a very comfortable and private location.

My stay was 2 months and I loved the hosts, the location and the little village of Hillsdale. The location is in Portland yet it seems you are in the mountains. The village is within walking distance if you do not mind hills. Carol and Arnie are the friendliest and most caring of hosts. I absolutely loved my stay!

Home away from home

We loved this sweet little apartment in the southwest hills. Very comfortable, had everything we needed. Close to downtown but also felt like "away from it all." Would definitely stay here again!

Very nice and comfortable place to stay in a beautiful neighborhood

Loved the yard with all the flowers and birds. It was great meeting Carol and getting a tour of her studio and beautiful glasswork. We would definitely stay here again next time we are in Portland

Carol and Arnie are wonderful, always willing to help, absolutely adore them, and loved my time staying with them. I stayed at their house for almost 3 months during an internship and could not have asked for a better experience.

Great private apartment!

The gardens and the view were stunning! We were very comfortable in this apartment and especially appreciated Carol and Arnie's help when it came time to making decisions about hikes and weather. Great maps and books to help with travel plans included for reference! Small kitchen space, but sufficient for two people. Despite being part of their home on the lower level, it felt very quiet and private.

Wonderful stay

Carol and Arnie are wonderful hosts. Our 20 year old daughter had an internship nearby and it was the perfect spot for her to live for the summer. Their gardens and hummingbirds are beautiful, and they took the time to make sure our daughter had everything she needed. The apartment is the perfect size for a couple or individual to live comfortably. Their artistic decorating adds a special touch. Highly recommend!

beautiful gardens

The apartment was perfect for our needs. We were visiting family in the area and everyone was impressed with our space. The area was quiet and the gardens were awesome, the view in the morning accompanied with coffee was incredible. The apartment had some beautiful touches, apparently someone is very artistic. Certainly wish we would have had more time to enjoy the area, but if and when we return we shall certainly try to stay in this lovely apartment. Thank you so much.

Lovely little hillside apartment

We spent 3 weeks in this little apt and found it to be just perfect for us. It is small but very well appointed so that we were completely comfortable. We were here in cold weather so we couldn't really enjoy the outdoor space but there is a lovely garden a little covered patio area overlooking it that would be great in warmer weather. Carol and Arnie were great! They had suggestions for restaurants and activities all around Portland. They are friendly and responsive to any questions we had. I would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful Place to Stay!

Carol and Arnie are excellent hosts. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area always happy to share their knowledge. They are also very interesting people to talk to. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. The apartment is clean and comfortable set in a beautiful garden. You are about 10-15 minutes from downtown Portland by car and there is access to public transportation. You will be located in a quiet residential neighborhood great for taking morning walks and not far from local shopping, restaurants and cafes.

Quiet hill side dwelling

The owners -Arnie and Carol - were perfect hosts. They were available when needed but otherwise provided a private and peaceful retreat in the apartment that is a part of their Hillsdale residence. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful, and also close enough to the city and highways that one can easily reach popular destinations. The apartment is a perfect substitute for a hotel room - perfect for unwinding after a day of excursions. It included everything we needed for our stay. My spouse and I especially enjoyed having coffee on the patio with the hummingbirds and also eating pie with Arnie and Carol. Thanks for a great stay!

Best Home Away From Home Ever!

It would be hard find a better place than this Hillsdale charmer. Tucked in the hills of Portland, this beautiful apartment is only enhanced by the wonderful grounds that surround it and the incredible hosts, Carol and Arnie. Flowers, trees, views on the outside and all the amenities inside make this the perfect place to tuck in and feel like home. I was even treated to an owl hooting hello in the night! Comfortable and clean, the apartment had everything I needed for my five week stay as I waited for my new home to be completed. I'm local and this was only nine miles from where I lived but it was a new neighborhood to me and I'm so glad I found it! Don't miss this gem.

Somethings can't be described, they have to be experienced.

This review is the joyful continuation of my "A Slice Of Heaven In Oregon", review that I wrote on 5/28/15 The happiness, joy and serenity that I had experienced as a solo guest prompted me to return a year later with my Husband. Witnessing my husband experiencing "A Slice Of Heaven In Oregon" was PRICELESS. Not much can top viewing a loved one "un-plug", completely relax and submerse themselves in the beauty & tranquility this property and its adjacent surroundings has offer its guests. This property is so ideally located that you can literally walk barefoot on the shores of the Pacific Ocean on one day and toss snowballs on Mt. Hood the next day.....with the aid of a car of course :) This amazing VRBO property created by Arnie & Carol that is so loving share with others, is truly Bucket List material.

Slice of Heaven in Oregon

This was my first experience with VRBO and I'm jumping with joy to report that it set the bar very high for any VRBO property that I may visit in the future. The details in the reviews written by other guests of this property are spot on and so true! Yes the property oozes beauty, privacy, charm & comfort but it's the beauty, charm and passion of its owners that makes this property such an exceptional palace in the great northwest. It is evident before you even step out of your vehicle that you are entering a magical setting created especially for you! Carol & Arnold have developed this property into their own slice of heaven that they so unselfishly share with like others. Their passion, positive energy and care for nature & others is evident in every detail. I will write no more so that you (a potential future guest) can fill in the rest of the blanks with your own elegant adjectives and magic words once you complete your stay in this truly heavenly location. You will leave a better person. I did. Seek joy always!

Gem In SW Portland Hills!

This little apartment attached to an artists studio is a perfect hideaway for one or two. You are minutes away from beautiful parks, hiking,restaurants, shopping, coffee, Pubs and more. Downtown Portland is also very close by car. I really dispute the other commenter that stated it was 20 mionuites. I drove it every day for a week and timed it. Unless you are going at rush hour, its barely 10 minutes by car. (Heres a tip, when you drive downtown don't take the freeway!) The apartment is very comfortable with 2 overstuffed reclining chairs in the living room and HBO movies channels on the TV. The galley kitchen is nicely stocked so you have everything you need to make your meals on premises. There is lots of closet space in the bedroom with tons of hangers provided (I love it!!) and plush bathrobes for relaxing in. There is also a desk for those that need to work or want to write letters. On top of all of this, Carol and Arnie, your hosts, and the two nicest people you will meet during your stay in Portland. They provided great suggestions on places to visit in the area both near and far. So yes, I would recommend this VRBO location to my friends and family, and others, that find they need a place to stay in the Portland area.

Lovely, comfortable apartment!

This apartment was perfect for a stay of over a month. Small but completely comfortable for a single or a couple. Kitchen had good amenities except missing a usable freezer and counter space is limited, but no problem for shorter stays. The hosts are wonderful, attentive and accommodating people - 10 star rating for them!

my husband and I just stayed there September 13th through 19th and it was absolutely wonderful. The pictures do not do this justice! The gardens were amazing. The place was clean and quiet, and bed was comfortable. We will certainly be back!

A wonderful experience

A wonderful experience all the way around! The property is conveniently located and the garden is absolutely gorgeous!!! Carol and Arnie are delightful hosts and definitely go the distance to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible! Plenty to see, do and eat in the surrounding area.

Relaxing!

We really enjoyed the property, inside and out! Reading under the umbrella or on the covered patio, very nice. Beautiful garden setting! Everything we needed inside, as well. Very quiet neighborhood.
