This lovely 4 bedroom villa is situated in a very secluded, almost magical valley in the foothills of the Monchique Mountain Range, but it is not at all remote and has nice restaurants only a few metres from the driveway. Monchique town is only a short drive up the hill, while the fishing port of Portimao with its big shopping centres and all the amenities you could wish for, is only a few minutes drive down the hill as are the wonderful beaches at Praia da Rocha, Ferragudo and Alvor. Nearby, is the enchanting village of Caldas de Monchique, a popular beauty spot, famous for its volcanic spa water which you can find in restaurants all over Portugal. In Caldas there is a huge open air bread oven where on most mornings you can sample the delicious, hot fresh rolls, baked with chouriço sausage inside them, or take stroll along one of the sub-tropical trails.
The Villa has its own mature garden with palm trees and numerous Mediterranean plants whose flowers attract many butterflies and birds. Atractive Mimosa trees grow nearby and a rustic path leads to the small river Boina, which, if you find a safe crossing point has a nice woodland walk and riverside path, leading up to mountain and forest trails beyond.
Sitting on the villas sun-deck or patio, is a very idyllic way to while away a few hours in a very secluded spot. The whole of the mountain view directly in front of the house is within the Monchique eco zone and it is quite easy to imagine you are far away from anywhere or anyone, yet actually,, it is not at all remote. Within a couple of hundred metres there are two good restaurants and a bit further are two interesting pottery shops.
Many guests chose not to move far from the pool, watching the swifts swooping down over the water until they are skimming so close to the water it looks like they are about to land. On clear nights, look up at the stars twinkling so brightly in the dark sky it is almost like a firework display and if you have some binoculars you will see the true beauty of the heavens. If you enjoy a game of Petanque there is an area of the car park marked out and a set of Boules are in the house. On the grass area beyond the pool you will find a simple "Toss the Horseshoe" game and a plentiful supply of horseshoes.

If motor sports interest you, there is the huge international autodromo where the Portuguese F1 Grand Prix is held and motor racing at all levels as well as motor bike racing and all sizes of go-karting takes place. Fast driving experiences are available there to suit most pockets, either on the main tracks in a Porsche or similar car or on the go-cart tracks. Alternatively, a short way from Quinta da Mimosa is a buggy rental facility that does self drive buggy tours over the various mountain trails.
On the way to Portimao it is worth stopping for one of the best free shows in Portugal, where, near the gas station lives a huge colony of Storks who are nearly always putting on delightful flying displays. Whether you enjoy beaches or the countryside, mountains, quaint villages or busy shopping centres, nightlife or just chilling out, watching the stars, Quinta da Mimosa is ideally situated.
