Authentic 1,400 sq. ft. Amish built vacation home, nestled in the Northwood’s near
Hurley, Wis./Ironwood Mi. on the beautiful 3,300 acre Gile Flowage. The peace and quiet is only interrupted by the occasional cry of a Loon or Eagle. Wildlife abounds! A great place for families and the silent sports.
Built by Amish craftsman, but with all the modern amenities.
3 Bedrooms incuding a large loft, sleeps 12 (rates based on 6 people) 2 full baths. Children under age 5 are free!
Cozy Gas Stove heat for those evenings watching the snowfall. Plus separate zoned heat and A/C for your comfort in each room! Ceiling fans too.
Large kitchen: Fridge, Dishwasher, Oven and Microwave. Outdoor Gas Grill.
LIVE Streaming with Satellite smart ROKU TV with DVD/Blue Ray player! Internet and Wi-Fi!
Ample parking for trucks and trailers.
Outdoor only security camera for your safety and piece of mind.
Full basement with laundry. Separate basement heat source for drying and hanging wet clothes and boots. Outdoor shower for getting the dust off after riding the ATV trails.

The Gile Flowage is part of the Montreal River system, which actually flows north to Lake Superior.
Years ago, the flowage was formed by the Excel Energy company Hydroelectric Dam in downtown Gile.

Since the energy company owns the actually shoreline, no permanent structures are allowed on the shore, giving the Gile Flowage its scenic beauty. Many compare it to Canada or the Boundary waters for its beautiful islands, forests and rock formations. However, water levels can fluctuate seasonally, but there is always plenty of water to recreate on. In fact, this water fluctuation tends to keep the Gile Flowage attractive for its serenity and “silent” water sports.
Swim off our dock, firm bottom with some gravel/rocks. No diving!
Very safe gradual drop off.
Water depth is our bay is 7' max.

Great fishing on the Gile Flowage, which is a “Class A” Muskie water. Also plenty of Walleye, Large and Smallmouth bass, Northern and panfish!

WINTER: The Hurley, Wis./Ironwood MI. area is the Snow capital of Wis. with an average snowfall of 200 inches, due to Lake Superior. Minutes away from all the major downhill ski hills like: WhiteCap Mt. Big Powderhorn, Indianhead Mt. etc. etc.
Iron County is also famous for its many scenic waterfalls and hiking trails. There are also miles and miles of snowmobiling/ATV and XC Ski/Snowshoe trails. In fact Iron County Snowmo./ATV Trail #13 goes right down our road! You can go for a couple hundred miles right out of our driveway!!

NOTICE: As our 8th season of renting our new cabin is winding down, we have learned a lot and have reviewed our rental costs vs rental income. We regretfully will have to raise our rates slightly in 2024.
We require a 3 night minimum stay. $25/night discount when renting a full week. This base rate is for up to 6 people. Any additional renters , add $15/night/person.
Children under age 5 are free!
We really appreciate your patronage and hope that our guest still feel that this rate is reasonable, for what our property offers.

The lake and the proximity to other nature activities in the area were wonderful. Unfortunately we arrived to some tasks to prep the house half done, and we had to complete them. We reached out to the property manager and after waiting for a response for a bit we had to contact the owners. Additionally the listing says nothing about security cameras. What appears to be one is on the house but when I asked about it, I was told it was fake. I hope so as we are very private individuals (no social media.. etc) but feel that should be disclosed.

Wonderful Place with great view

The property was more than our group expected. It had a beautiful view off the back deck looking over the water. The cabin was clean and ready to go. Tom was great with every step of the process and made sure that everything was good after we arrived. Would stay here again hands down.

Great Weekend!

A group of friends stayed here for a long weekend to hit the UTV trails. Overall, it was a great weekend. The cabin was awesome, perfect spot on the lake, along with it being right off the trails. The communication leading up to our stay was great, and Tom even checked in during our stay to make sure everything was going okay. I would definitely stay here again if we went back to that area and would recommend it to anyone! Thanks!

Short getaway

Myself, my significant other, and 2 of our dear friends wanted to be up north for a few days and we could not have found a better place to stay. The cabin and location were beyond what we thought and it was so wonderful to wake up in the morning with the sun rising over the water in the back yard of the cabin. Everytbing was wonderful with our stay and we hope to be back again!

Beautiful and Restful

We had a marvelous time at this cabin! The cove off Giles Flowage was so peaceful and quiet, our kids had the ability to just be without worrying about boat traffic. We brought our own stand-up paddle boards which we used constantly but also used their rowboat for fishing. The fishing here is great with walleye, perch, panfish, musky, etc. With all the kids piled in the loft for sleeping, we couldn’t use the living room at night to chill, but that was easily made up for by enjoying the screened in porch off the back of the house. Even though the house is remote and quiet, we were still close enough to town to seamlessly grab food supplies and bait as needed instead of packing everything we needed at home. Working with Tom was so easy, and he is a fountain of knowledge for the entire area! We’d highly recommend staying here to anyone!

Absolute wonderful find!

The owner was so helpful and quick responding with every question we had about everything from fishing spots to places to eat. The property and cabin was absolutely beautiful! It was fully stocked with everything you need except food, which made the stay so much nicer and easier! Would definitely recommend!!!

Perfect for our Family!

As a family of 5 it is hard to find a place within our budget that has enough bedrooms. We have an adult daughter and 2 teen boys so 3 separate sleeping spaces are a must! The loft was perfect for our boys and our daughter was able to have her own room as well as my husband and I. So nice being right on the flowage with all the comforts of home but the cabin is still very cabiny, if you know what I mean. The boys were especially fond of it at first site! Toma was very helpful, responded quickly and even called when it was too hard to just text! He tried troubleshooting our boat motor troubles with my hubby over the phone but to no avail. At least it worked up until the last 2 days of the trip. We love cooking over the open fire and there was pleanty of wood to do so several days in a row. The beds were really comfy and we loved having lots of extra blankets. We love curling up in a blanket for a good movie! We had great weather but the fishing wasn't great. Caught a few each day but we did not fish early morning or after dark. There was also a mayfly hatch Wed/Thurs. Went to Saxon Harbor and swam in the warmest Lake Superior water I have ever been in and it was clear to see your toes! Had fun collecting rocks there. Little Girl Island Park was another highlight. Rough water but tons of fun and unique rocks to collect. Soaked up a lot of sun at each beach also. My husband and I loved having coffee on the vack porch every morning. The bugs weren't bad until pm.

Fall Stay

Perfect Cabin

We stayed for 5 days during February to enjoy all northern WI has to offer. We skied at Whitecap, snowmobiled the Iron County trails and ice fished the Gile. The location of the cabin was absolutely perfect for all of the activities we did! There were 8 of us staying and the amount of space was perfect! The kids loved the loft for sleeping!! The basement was perfect for drying out our wet gear and we enjoyed having a bonfire outside in the evening. Tom is a wonderful host that provided us with great information about the area and all the activities we did. We will definitely be back!

Warm and cozy cabin for a fun skiing weekend!

This cabin is a gorgeous winter getaway! We brought our family up for a ski trip and loved the quaint, peaceful cabin that we came back to each night. Communication with the owner Tom was great and very helpful. We had everything we needed in the stocked kitchen and bathrooms and the beds were incredibly comfortable! Thanks for an awesome weekend!

Great ski trip

We had a great time. This rental was fully loaded from the kitchen to the outdoor activities. It also had plenty of blankets and pillows. Our family took full advantage of the chest of board games. We skied at White Cap Mt and Big Powderhorn. Both were close to this rental. We loved our trip and plan to return.

Getaway week.

Hands down the best experience I’ve had with staying somewhere. The pictures and description does not do the place justice! Everything about the place was perfect. It started with the booking process then the communication with Tom leading up to arrival, checking in and throughout the stay to make sure everything was going well at the house. Will definitely be a repeat visitor.

Serene getaway with amazing views and scenery

All ten of us had a great time. There were times that two baths weren't enough (that was a timing thing); but, we all made it work. Home was easy to maintain while we were there. Nobody got in anyone's way. Living room was large enough for all of us to sit around and play games in the evening.

Picturesque scenery

Walking in, you get a 90 degree view of the water. It’s beautiful. There was an active beaver damn at the end of the inlet. We saw a deer in the morning in the backyard. Quiet getaway with plenty of seclusion and nice rowboat and kayaks for more access to the water for fishing and sightseeing.

Great place. Great stay.

Lovely place with comfy beds, soft sheets and such great amenities. The screened porch, deck, boats and fire pit were the best "extras". Great location and super fun for our crew.
