Charming Cape Cod cottage on Depot Pond & bike trail with pond access

Our Cottage is conveniently located on Depot Pond (with pond access) and next to the Cape Cod Rail Bike Trail. Both the kitchen and bathroom are newly renovated. All windows have been replaced. There is a new Mini-Split heating/AC system installed for this season to add to your comfort. Our large deck overlooks the pond and is the perfect spot to relax and watch the sunset or enjoy coffee in the morning. There are 2 bedrooms with 3 beds (2 twin beds and one queen) to comfortably sleep 4 people. The cottage is fully furnished inside and includes a table and chairs on the deck. New in 2023 is a Weber Gemini gas grill. There is direct pond access to Depot Pond through the backyard. There is high-speed WiFi throughout the cottage. The location is close to beaches on Great Pond (freshwater), Cape Cod Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean. There are many great restaurants within a few miles of the cottage.

The property our home sits on has been in our family for generations and was originally purchased in British pounds. Eastham is such a special place for our family and we love gathering in our home. We hope you can experience the charm & relaxation of Eastham which we so cherish.

Located right on the bike trail with access to area ponds, this was a great spot for a getaway. There were plenty of options for daily entertainment and the house had what we needed. We enjoyed our stay.

A wonderful return visit

We were fortunate to stay in this clean, updated, and well-equipped home for a second summer in a row. It’s hard to beat the proximity to multiple ponds, the bike bath, and the National Seashore beaches. Perfect getaway for our family of 4!

Pleasant stay

We had a pleasant stay. We liked the surrounding area especially the beaches and the restaurants. The cottage was well maintained and the view of the lake from the deck was gorgeous. We enjoyed the calming sunsets as well. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and we would definitely visit again.

Charming cottage on a kettle pond

We had a wonderful visit to Eastham. We loved being right on Cape Cod Rails to Trails and the beautiful kettle pond right outside the door. The house was clean and cozy—just what you want for family time!

Great vacation

We had a perfect week in Eastham. Cottage was located near everything we wanted to do. House is right on the rail trail and we rode our bikes on it every day. The house had everything we needed for our stay. We are hoping to come back next summer!

Perfect escape

This house was everything we hoped it would be and more! Not only is the house adorable, but it is in close proximity to everything we love about the Cape, including the bike trail, fresh water ponds, bay beaches AND ocean beaches. We booked our next visit before we even left!

Nice week in Eastham

The house was great. Depot Pond is *beautiful* and really really great for swimming. Being right next to the bike path was awesome. And First Encounter beach is great. The house was just as advertised and fit our family of 4 really well.

A quiet home base

This clean and well-equipped cottage was perfect for me as a solo renter. It's close to all the things I enjoy and provided me a lovely home base. I'm a swimmer, so staying home on the deck and swimming regularly in the pond was idyllic.

Just the right size for a couple. Very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was a plus..nice views of Depot Pond from the ample deck. Best of all, it was only a few yards from the bike trail. There was also a good market right up the street. We really enjoyed being there.

Beautiful pond view cottage

We loved this cottage. It was bright, clean, and comfortable and had everything we expected. We adored the location on the edge of Depot Pond and with easy access to First Encounter beach, the bike path, and the Visitor Center. The deck was well equipped with a nice table and umbrella and comfortable outdoor furniture and was a peaceful place to spend time.

Easy and comfortable

We had a lovely stay in this charming cottage overlooking Depot Pond. We were close to the bay and the ocean and it was easy to get in and out to Route 6. Best was being right next to the cape cod rail trail for bike rides. The house is well equipped and the indoor and outdoor furniture is comfortable. The air conditioning is quiet and effective. Would be happy to return.

Cape Cod gem

This house was perfect for a family of 4 that loves the Cape Cod pond life! The home was very clean upon our arrival, updated and with a charming decor (true to photos). Check-in was as easy as it gets, directions were so clear and had no issues so we didn’t have a single question the entire week! Loved the deck overlooking the pond and the convenient location - steps to the Rail Trail, easy access to bike/kayak rental, fishing, markets and restaurants, and both bay and seashore beaches. It was a piece of paradise for us and we can’t wait to return!

Sweet and comfortable cottage in a central location

We spent a delightful 10 days here, overlooking the pond and riding bikes everywhere along the Cape Cod Rail Trail which is literally next door. Kitchen was well-equipped, TV good, new AC units did the job, and drawer/closet space generous. The hosts responded quickly to fix a problem with the new Weber grill which then worked great. Be aware of no dishwasher and BYO linens & towels (we rented from The Furies who responded immediately).

We appreciate your feedback and again are so sorry about the issues with the BBQ. We would have been happy to assist in linen rentals, but really appreciate your feedback as we might add linens to be included next year. We would also love to install a dishwasher as we know that is a wonderful appliance to have. Thank you so much and we hope to host you again in the future.

Great Property, Great Price

My husband and I stayed at the Hurd's cottage for a week in August. It met all our expectations. The best feature of the property is the deck. It is lovely to sit outside for morning coffee and evening BarBQs. We loved looking onto the beautiful pond. You can access the fresh water pond very close by. The water was clean and clear. The trees around the deck offer shade during the day. The cottage is simple but adequate. There is a bit of a mildew smell upon entering but it airs out with the doors open. Loved the Band concerts by the Windmill. We spent alot of time at Marconi Beach but we could ride the bikes to Coast Guard. Thank you!

This fall we are making 2 major upgrades to the cottage. First, we are removing the old drywall and insulation in the basement. This will remove any mustiness from the house. Second, we are upgrading the kitchen with new cabinets, counter tops and a new sink and faucet.

My wife and I have been coming to Cape Cod since we were first married. I first came to the Cape when I was less than 2 years old to meet my grandparents in their home on Bridge Road. My father grew up in the Bridge Road house and attended the one room school house which is now a museum near the entrance to the Cape Cod National Seashore.

This cottage is part of the original Nickerson farm which Hatsel Nickerson purchased in the late 1700's. This property was passed down in the Nickerson family to Edna Nickerson, the grandmother of the owner. The current cottage was built in 1960.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

There are beautiful views of Depot Pond from the dining are, kitchen, back bedroom and the deck. The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs along the west property line. This paved trail runs 22 miles from Wellfleet to Dennis following the original right-of-way of the Cape Cod Railroad.

All the windows have been replaced by modern double pane windows. In October 2016, we updated the kitchen with all new cabinets, a large farmhouse sink, new counter tops and floors. In 2018, we completed renovated the bathroom with new walk-in shower, new sink and toilet, new tile floor and new walls and ceiling.
