Breathtaking lake views greet you from every angle the moment that you step in this one level of living home. The dark, glistening hardwood floors that flow throughout the double sided Great Room are perfectly highlighted by the sunlight that streams through the floor to ceiling windows. One side of the room serves as a wonderful entertainment area complete with comfortable furnishings and a TV for your viewing pleasure. The true captivating point of the home is on the other side of the room where you will spend many snowy evenings cuddling with your loved ones in front of the crackling wood fireplace. The additional wet bar adds to your entertainment convenience.



A fully stocked kitchen, adorably adorned, has everything you will need to whip up a quick lunch or pull together a massive buffet breakfast. Your dining area breaks up the middle of the room but allows you to enjoy stunning lake views while you dine.

We had a great stay in this very comfortable house. Very close to both the ski resort and Swallow Falls State Park. Highly recommend for a winter getaway.

Enjoyable stay

The description of this property was very accurate. The lake front/dock is beautiful. We had a great stay, despite some less than ideal weather. The hot tub was amazing.

Cozy home and great view

We loved the fireplace which was well stocked. The sliding glass doors gave such a nice view of the lake. We saw lots of ducks and several eagles. The yard was great and right on the lake. The location was great and we had a really fun time. Comfortable place to read in front of the fire and enjoy the lake view.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Clean, close to the lake and accessible to State park for dog walks. Short ride to Arrowhead Deli, grocery and liquor store. Great fireplace. Has a hot tub but we did not venture out due to the extreme cold temperatures. Great new tv since the last time we stayed. Great weekend!

Everything was wonderful aside from the hot tub.Beautifully decorated clean home. Cozy, plenty of fire wood. Comfy furniture. Amazing view of the lake from all of the doors and windows ! Felt at home. As for the hot tub, it was lukewarm the day we went to use it when the winds finally died down. No chemicals or maintenance since 11/14/25. I called but no one came so we weren't able to use it. My skin smelled like mildew after putting my hand in to test the waters. This was disappointing. But the house was gorgeous. Beautiful clean floors, well stocked kitchen, amazing master bath and shower !

Cozy lakeside lodge

The decor and layout were perfect for our family getaway. The hot tub and fireplace made for a very cozy winter retreat. Everything was well stocked and in good shape. The master suite was decadent with an amazing shower. One place for improvement would be better snow removal before our arrival. Decks and steps were icy and required a fair amount of effort on our behalf to be safely used.

If you want rustic, this is for you

As all prior reviews say, the location is ideal. Iā€™m all in for a rustic, log cabin feel, worn leather couches, building a fire, unplugging from work/school, and enjoying the beautiful lake (which you will do at the Blue Heron.) Butā€¦ the coffee maker and washing machine did not work at all. The only usable TV Iā€™d call ā€œsemi-smartā€ because the remotes wouldnā€™t work on it either so we ended up watching movies at night on our laptop. But there is a VHS playerā€¦ All in all a super cozy house for a winter getaway but could do with some inexpensive upgrades to make it better for a family with kids.

Would like to suggest the following to make the inside of the house smell better while it is pet friendly. A few area carpets are very smelly we had to pull them out of the room and put them in the closet heavily stained. The smaller wall-to-wall carpeted area smelled as well would suggest ceramic tiling the bedroom areas as wet mop takes care of all that pet odor. We are glad to have our dog with us and thank you for allowing it to be pet friendly. Also the shrubbery around the deck is overgrown and blocks the view of the lake and perhaps cutting down some limbs from the trees along the lake view level would enhance beautiful lake views from the deck and house Love the house and thank you for allowing us to stay there

We are also very thankful to the staff for retrieving and mailing to us two objects we forgot at the house while checking out. The house would be great (a great floor plan, good furniture, great porch, etc.) if not some maintenance defects: 1. a strong smell of cat urine at the entrance area when we arrived, 2. Bad smell in the master bathroom, and 3. Dirty washer/drier. After we contacted the company, staff was quick to fixed the first defect by removing smelly rags; the smell in the bathroom was masked by some strong chemical but still stayed the whole time. We didn't complain about the washer/drier, but we preferred not to use it.

Loved the lake view/access (fished from pier), the comfort of home (despite tight kitchen area, splintering deck and tight master bathroom), the jacuzzi and fire pit. The house is nicely decorated and offers books, board games and puzzles for rainy days. Nearby hiking was enjoyable as was renting a boat for the day. The bathrooms may need upgrading and the master shower is quite small, so this may not be the place for handicapped folks. Really pretty view from wall to wall Windows, but bring blankets. It was on a busy part of the lake, with a busy road directly across the lake from the house. However, the beauty of the property and lake proximity helped to overcome this somewhat. The kitchen was well equipped and the heat and AC worked well and the space was very comfortable. The only negative observation was that the cleaning crew for the house did only an ok job at cleaning the house. The wood supply provided was very minimal; one bucket of wood next to the fireplace. The outdoor wood pile did not have any wood, only decaying remnants of wood. The hot tub was great, very clean and we used it every night. We did have an issue getting into the property on arrival day with a 4pm EST check in. The entry code provided by the management company did not work until about 4:15pm, even though check in was 4pm. This caused us unnecessary concern, phone calls and wait times with the management company while we sat in the driveway of the property. It was explained to us that sometimes the "timer" for the code to access the property was a bit out of sync and that they could not control this. I was surprised in our highly technical world that a glitch like this could not be controlled. It just wasn't the best way to start the week. With that said, we had a very nice relaxing time and were very comfortable at the property. We spotted a very large black bear about 3 houses away from Blue Heron!

Reviewer Comments: home was freshly cleaned when we arrived! however, there were cobwebs in some areas that you wouldn't want to see them, like in the shower. temperature of the room was a bit cold. location was outstanding! could use some hedge trimming around the house. as well as some general maintenance of the fire pit area and portions of the deck. rental company provided a binder with lots of useful information to use during our stay. it made the stay much more enjoyable with that information guiding us.
