Hidden Treasure of Milina

The house was among the best we ever had since our individual travels of the last 25 years. The rooms were quite big, very tidy and in best condition. The landlord Tim was extremely helpful, beginning with personal support during check-in at 0:30, providing delicious fruits from the garden, and giving numerous helpful hints about the best places to go in the Pilion area. Our family had a really wonderful time. Highly recommendable.

We had a great stay at Tim and Aphroula’s house in Milina. The house is at the edge of the town with a great view of the ocean through the trees. The location is very quiet and peaceful, but it’s also possible to walk down to the beach and the small town with its seafront restaurants and cafes. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the large veranda and the garden terrace. Tim gave us lots of great restaurant and beach tips. He was a very responsive and friendly host who left us to ourselves when we wanted and answered questions when we had them. We would definitely stay here again!

Aphroula's house

Tim was not just any host, he was a super super host. Everything from giving directions, meeting us to guide us to the house and having a wonderful basket of food so we wouldn't have to worry about breakfast on our first morning. He was easy to reach if we had any questions. The house itself was perfect for our needs, a couple traveling with two grown up kids. It was without doubt the cleanest and best equipped house we have ever rented. The sturdiness of the house construction was put to the test when storm Daniel arrived, but we didn't have a drop of water inside. My only recommendation to future guests would be to perhaps spend the night in Volos before driving down to Milina. I think that would be a more enjoyable experience than navigating the road in the dark.

Although we still have no water, the road was opened the day before yesterday, and so this morning I called your car hire people in Volos to let them know that if they go VERY slowly and carefully, they should be able to retrieve their car. Υπέροχες και ήσυχες διακοπές, σε ήσυχο κατάλυμα σε ήσυχη περιοχή

Ολα πάρα πολύ καλά, το μόνο πρόβλημα η πρόσβαση... Αν και ο Tim είχε φροντίσει για χάρτη πλοήγησης τα δρομάκια ήταν στενά και μόνο αν τα κάνεις την πρώτη φορά τα μαθαίνεις...

Maison très agréable

Très bon accueil de Tim. La maison est agréable et spacieuse ( nous avions réservé le haut et le bas) Le quartier est un peu isolé et la route d'accès est étroite mais l'ambiance est sympa pour ceux qui aiment des coins nature et authentiques. On va sur le remblai à pied en 15 mn de promenade originale Milina n'est pas St Trop mais mérite d'être découverte à pied en prenant son temps

A calm house in the Green

We had an awesome stay at Aphroulas house. Tim was the best host one can imagine, over several weeks before our stay we had contact and he supported us during the Corona-times where it was not sure if we could travel at all. He also picked us up as we arrived in Milina and guided us to the house - which is located very close to the village but kind of hidden in the greens. Once we arrived we found a welcome-basket with food and wine - so lovely! We really liked the beautiful and super clean house where you can completely calm down. We stayed with three adults and two children. The double bedroom in the basement is an extra apartment, separated through a staircase, so it’s not really suitable as a bedroom for smaller kids whilst the parents are sleeping upstairs. Anyway, we used it as a studio for the grandma and slept with a family of four in the 1st floor, where a very comfortable sofa can be turned into a second double bed. The house is more than well equipped, I’ve never had a holiday home which offers so much stowage, stuff and coziness. The two big terrasses are the best, we kind of lived on the balcony - with sea view! During our stay there was no cleaning or changing of linnen and towels, but I am sure Tim would have arranged it if needed (which we did not). Contact was uncomplicated, Tim and his wife live close to the house. Some words about Milina: It’s a small, but very vital village with shops, taverns and little beaches. For us it’s the perfect place on Pilion: nice and calm. We will definitely come back! Thanks for this beautiful stay!

It was a pleasure having Johanna and her family stay as our guests, and we hope very much that we will be seeing them all again. And we are very grateful for her positive review. With regard to Johanna's point about the cleaning, at the end of every 7 days, for bookings of longer than a week, the house is thoroughly cleaned, and all bed linen and towels changed.

Greece as it should be

The property is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the village of Milina and is peaceful and private and has everything you will need for your stay. Tim himself is Pelion's version of Indiana Jones (chopping wood, climbing trees etc) but is a very good host. As Tim lives nearby you occasionally bump into him and he is happy to engage in conversation or just to say good morning. The village itself has no real architectural merit but it does have a long seafront with an abundance of good quality coffee shops, ice cream parlours, restaurants, supermarkets and other retail shops. When you stay in a village like Milina your most important decisions will be 'what time shall we eat, what time shall we swim, what time shall I sleep'. These every day issues become the your main preoccupation as all the distractions of everyday life subside. It may take a few days to adjust, but once you do, let the Milina sunset work its magic. A peaceful, comfortable, well-equipped retreat for four people within walking distance of the beach

My husband and I and two good friends spent a week at Aphroula's House in Milina in early July 2017 and loved the experience. The configuration of the house makes it ideal for two friendly couples or one couple travelling with children. The upstairs terrace, which faces west, with a distant view of the sea, is a good spot for breakfast and dinner, but too hot at lunchtime. Ceiling fans and A/C units keep the bedrooms cool at night. The house as a whole is simply furnished and very comfortable, including an outdoor cooking area on the lower level and a conventional, well-equipped kitchen upstairs. The owners live nearby and are on hand to give advice and to resolve problems – not that we had any. It is a pleasant 15–20 minute walk from Aphroula's House to the seafront at Milina, a wonderfully unspoilt village with some good beaches lined by a string of tavernas. Milina has plenty of traditional shops, including grocers, greengrocers, two butchers and a bakery, and local fishermen sell their catch on the quayside in the early morning. Getting to the house from the village by car is a little more challenging – along bumpy, rutted tracks with few passing places – but we got used to it! There is a fabulous walk up the hill behind the house to the mountain village of Lafkos that takes you along a well-worn donkey track with better and better views of the matchless Pagasitic Gulf as you climb. All in all, we had a lovely holiday and came away thinking that a week in Pelion was much too short.

Brilliant Holiday House

Aphroula's house is wonderfully peaceful and quiet, with sea views from the terrace. Milina's secluded location means that, even in the busy summer months, it never feels touristic or over-crowded. The house is a short walk away from the sea front, a number of traditional Greek restaurants, and small shops; it is also perfectly situated for walks over the mountains to other towns. The water is perfect for swimming - because it is a bay, there are barely any waves, and the water is lovely and warm. Tim and Aphroula are perfect hosts, very friendly and welcoming, and helpful in advising on places to visit and activities in the area. I can't recommend this house highly enough.

A perfect retreat

This beautiful house looks out over trees and gardens, with a view from the upper terrace (there are two) of the Pagasitic Gulf. The house is calm, quiet - and - brilliantly - can be divided into two completely self-contained parts. The tiny town of Milina is a short walk away, and here there's a string of tavernas right next to the sea, facing the incredible sunsets to the west. You’re a long way from anywhere, which is why such a beautiful place is so amazingly uncrowded. At the same time, it’s a proper town, with small, useful shops – butcher – baker - and even a pharmacy. The waters of the gulf are calm and clear. There’s nothing quite like it. This is why I’ve been coming here with my family for nearly twenty years.
