Situated on a working beef farm in a quiet lane and with eco friendly underfloor heating, large comfortable open plan living/dining with wood burning stove and fully equipped kitchen area, two large bedrooms (one double and one twin), walk-in shower and full bath. Cot/highchair provided on request. Separate fully equipped utility room. Living area opens directly on to patio with views of open fields and rolling countryside. Plenty of outdoor space for children to play. Up to two small well behaved dogs welcome. Lots of walks directly from the property on quiet lanes, tracks and paths. Local maps and advice on walks provided on request. Wifi, TV/DVD.

Local village of Horsley within 15 minutes walk with great family friendly award winning pub (withpop-up food and music nights) and community run village shop. Lovely little market town of Nailsworth easily accessible by walking (20 mins) or offers free parking with lots of interesting independent shops and cafes/restaurants and tourist information. Easy access to all Cotswolds attractions, Cirencester 30 minute drive, Cheltenham 40 minutes, Bath 40 minutes. Local farmers markets in Nailsworth (monthly) and Stroud (weekly).

The place was idyllic and quiet and a perfect getaway. Close enough to two lovely towns to walk which was fantastic. The hosts were welcoming and had a ton of really great details for us and our visit.

We had the best week at Swallows Rest. Everything is so well thought through — there are so many small details that make the whole stay feel comfortable, right down to things you don't even realise you needed until you're there. The property was exceptionally clean throughout, and the welcome essentials were a lovely touch that made settling in so easy.The host couldn't have been more accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We'd recommend Swallows Rest in a heartbeat and would love to come back.

Everything you could possibly need for a wonderful stay in the area as a family. Space for kids to run, comfortable beds, spotless & spacious accommodation & wonderful hosts who gave us privacy but we're also on hand if we needed. Highly recommend & thank you.

Spotlessly clean, extremely well furnished and equipped. The property offers a fenced area to the front for parking but with sufficient space for children to play safely and there are beautiful views to enjoy very close to the property.The property enjoys the benefit of under floor heating which can be augmented with an impressive wood burner in the sitting room area.Strongly reccomended.

Jeannie and Brian were extremely welcoming, the amenities and amount of things they have in their place made our stay so comfortable, the place is more spacious than it looks as well! Would definitely stay here again or recommend to anybody looking to stay in that part of the Cotswolds

The hosts were extremely welcoming. They were great with our children whose highlight of the stay was feeding the chickens!Swallow’s Rest was warm and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. The perfect getaway!

We just spent our second Christmas at Swallows Rest, and it was absolutely perfect. The cottage is cozy, spotless, and set in a beautiful part of the Cotswolds. It has everything you need for a relaxing festive break. We can't recommend it enough and will definitely be back!

Lovely and clean and had everything that we needed. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. The kids loved all of the animals on thr farm. Would highly recommend.

This is a wonderful place to stay, central to many places in the Cotswolds. It’s comfortable, clean, and plenty of space to relax after a day of exploring. The hosts are also wonderful providing everything we needed and lots of information about the area.

Comfortable, rather minimalist, 'barn' conversion, with safe outside space which contained our adventurous dog. Warm, well kitted out, and a good place for two friends on a winter long weekend.

Restful weekend

We had a wonderfully peaceful weekend, the lodged is beautiful, fully equipped and immaculately clean. Shops are close by to pick up essentials and an easy drive to visit many local villages in the Cotswolds, we will definitely return!

Fabulous stay!

We had a lovely stay here this week. The barn is really well equipped, comfy and clean. The hosts were there to greet us on arrival and explained everything we needed to know including surrounding walks and play areas. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

This was our third trip to England (after Cornwall in 2024 and Kent in 2025), and our stay in the Cotswolds couldn't have been better. The accommodation is spacious, well-laid out, and spotlessly clean; it has everything you could possibly need. Our dog felt right at home, too—she could come and go as she pleased thanks to the fenced outdoor area. Our children (teenagers, mind you) made friends with the two goats and visited them in the meadow every day. The only minor issue was the shower's water pressure, which was a bit weak—though we’ve experienced that on previous trips to England, too (perhaps it’s typical for the country?). Horsley/Nailsworth is the perfect base for many lovely excursions: since we had our own car, we were able to take day trips to Bristol, Gloucester, Bath, Lynton/Lynmouth (including the Valley of Rocks), various Cotswolds villages, and even Wales (we visited Brecon Beacons National Park and Tenby on two separate days). Nailsworth itself is charming and offers plenty of shopping options. You can also find great food in the beautiful beer garden at "The Hog" pub in Horsley—it’s even within walking distance (though be warned: the area is hilly). We went there three times! The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful; they even let us use their address to have something shipped from within England that would have been significantly more expensive in Germany. Brian and Jeannie run the farm and holiday let. Brian has been farming all his life and moved to Horsley as a child and to our current farm in the late 1970s. He originally had a milking herd, but is now semi-retired and runs a small beef herd. Jeannie is also from the Stroud Valleys and enjoys the outdoor life, mainly looking after the smaller animals on the farm. She is a keen walker and previously worked with special needs students in a local secondary school.

Swallows Rest is a tranquil and calm space and our aim is to enable you to enjoy your holiday without the trials and tribulations of a hectic life. We provide all the basics for housekeeping and tea, coffee and cake on arrival for you to instantly relax and chill out. We are happy for you to get involved in farm life and find out about farming or can leave you in peace, whichever suits you best during your stay.
