Redwood Mountain Hideaway in Felton near Lake + Santa Cruz


Tranquility Base is located 15 minutes from downtown Felton and the community of Mount Hermon. Drive time to the city of Santa Cruz is 25 minutes. You will be 25-30 minutes from the closest beaches/Boardwalk. (Dependant on time of day/day of week) Roaring Camp Railroad is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The beautiful Loch Lomond Rec Area is a 10 minute drive from the cabin. (Open Mid-March - September)

Deep in the heart of the redwoods and ferns with a creek running alongside the winding road, you will experience the fresh, fragrant air and step into another world.

No pets.

Tranquility Base is a 625 sq ft cabin with high ceilings in all but the bathroom. The livingroom features a gas powered fireplace. The front bedroom has a queen bed, skylight, dresser, small table/chairs. In this closet there is a travel play pen.
The den has a queen bed, dresser, closet and shares a common door with the bathroom.

No laundry facility onsite.

There are 31 steps up from the parking area to the cabin, but no stairs inside.

There is a large front deck at cabin level with a fire fixture, tables, chairs, umbrellas, fountain. Located in a quiet neighborhood near the end of the
road. The houses are rather far apart. The cabin is up off of the road which gives you a tree house view and total privacy.

Free-range crawlers and toddlers must be supervised as this is not a 'baby-proofed' venue..

This is not a 'rager party house', as the neighborhood quiet time is 10pm to 8am. Caretaker lives nearby. If you have any questions during your stay, please feel free to call.

Nearby, the Felton Commons Park boasts the tallest covered bridge in the United States, (Guinness Book). All around are famous local wineries. In Felton town, Sushi San is located at the far right end of Safeway/CVS. On Hwy 9 The Felton Music Hall features live entertainment. The Humble Sea Brewery, Cowboy Dinner, Empire Grill, Redwood Organic pizza and Round Table are also in town.

A cozy Cabin stay!

My partner and I stayed as a little winter getaway and really enjoyed it. It was raining for most of our stay an the rain makes it so cozy with the little gas fireplace running. The kitchenette comes stocked with all the tools you will need and plenty of condiments if you forgot anything. The road to there is a bit scary but the isolation is well worth it. It's super quiet and the views of the forest around are amazing.

Redwood Perfection

Just a wonderful place in a beautiful environment. We knew that we were in for something special but until you experience Tranquility Base in the flesh it’s impossible to appreciate the natural surroundings, the fact that you’re staying in a cabin/treehouse and all the incredible touches that provide such a unique and welcoming place. We utilised the full kitchen, the cozy living room, the comfy beds and, outside, the hot tub and the fire ring. Just a magical experience that we’d love to enjoy again some day.

Beautiful getaway

My wife and our twin 11 month old babies stayed for a few days and had a wonderful time! the property is tucked back in a secluded setting and it was so quiet and peaceful. The babies were able to sleep in a quiet back bedroom while we hung around in the house. There were some toys and games for us and the babies, a tv and everything you could think of for a great stay. There were extra heaters, blankets, pillows, and even a pack n play! So nice! The soak tub was so cozy and relaxing and the kitchen was adorable. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We will absolutely be back!

Weekend Getaway

House was cute and well stocked, away from town but still close to everything. Loved to feel almost a part of nature in the beautiful redwood setting. Janea went above and beyond to ensure that there were no questions left unanswered and was wonderful with her communication.

I cannot say enough nice things about our stay at tranquility base. Super cozy, everything you could possibly need supplied for you, detailed instructions on everything, and our host was just super nice and helpful. This was our honeymoon trip and it was perfect! We will definitely be back anytime we can :)

Hangin with the Redwoods

Ate breakfast and dinner with the Redwoods on the deck everyday. Great parks close by for hiking/biking for all levels with great scenery. Very quite, relaxing and beautiful. Also the outdoor soakIng hot tub was the cherry on top. Perfect getaway!!

Magical Mountain Getaway

This is one of those properties where we started talking about booking our second visit while still experiencing the first! We found the home easy to locate and park, and exactly as described in the listing - if not a little nicer! Janea was very communicative and easy to connect with on any questions, which were minimal since she provides a lot of up-front info after you book, and the home comes with a nice binder full of tips like using the lovely soaking hot tub. The only negative has nothing to do with the property, and that's that there are mosquitoes, but there were several bottles of repellent available for us to use, which was great.

Heaven on Earth

What do you get when you combine an amazing location, great facilities, and a super-attentive (but not omnipresent) hostess? Come stay at Tranquility Base and see for yourself. A peaceful, comfy bungalow nestled in the redwoods, away from the hustle and bustle of it all, and welcoming as can be. Will definitley be back!

Gorgeous Mountain Escape

This place was very unique cozy and equipped with all needed living utensils Even had everything for Fresh Ground Coffee I love the deck and all the extra details around the entire property. The road up there is very narrow for about 3 miles so be ready for that and a gorgeous view Parking was on the narrow road but fits about 2 cars comfortably and I drive a Cadillac SUV. Overall this place is awesome if you need to get away and read, write, need some soul searching or go fishing close by!

This is the best place to stay on the whole planet!

I'm so happy with my stays at Tranquility Base! I live in Oakland and have stayed here a few times when I wanted to get away to the peace and quiet of the Santa Cruz mountains. Janae is the kindest person. I always feel so well cared for and so protected in the magic spell of love and healing that I can feel like a force field around her home. Tranquility Base is a little distance away from the main house so it feels completely private. The hot tub and redwood trees growing up through the deck are so perfect and everything is just dripping with what feels like the femme magic of the ancestors. Thank you Janae for being so very wonderful, I appreciate you and your home so deeply!

Tranquility is the perfect name for this space

We had a lovely stay at this sweet sanctuary. The patio was my favorite spot to practice morning yoga and meditation. Janea is a gem and made us feel very welcomed. We loved the sweet touch of the welcome of our names written on the fridge with letter magnets and her coming and doing our morning dishes when she was there to check on the electrical. We will definitely be back again and high recommend this wonderful space for a getaway to the redwoods.
