Book for over 30 nights and save over $1000. in local taxes. Perfect for a single person or a couple. Not suitable for children under six years. Located across the street from the historic La Valencia Hotel. Penthouse overlooks La Jolla Cove. Wake up to the chirping seagulls and fall asleep with the crashing surf. Paradise begins in the apartment and expands to the Pacific Ocean and village that surrounds you. ALL ROOMS HAVE OCEAN VIEWS and AIR CONDITIONING!
The master bedroom has a new KING bed, 50" tv, bathroom, bathroom with shower and a stocked bookshelf.
Second bedroom/den is the perfect office with an ocean view. It has a comfortable, fold-down sofa bed, that is good for one person.. It is smaller than a full bed. Room has a 40" tv, bathroom with tub and desk with an ocean view.
Listen to the sounds of seals barking. Walk across the street to the park with picnic tables, fire pits, lifeguards, palm trees and lawns.
Dine in La Jolla's finest restaurants, attend a book event at Warwick's or D.G. Wills bookstores, a concert at the Anthenaeum Library or visit our numerous art galleries. Our famous Seal Beach is a three block stroll.
Within walking distance are also well maintained tennis courts, gyms, beaches and yoga classes. The famous Torrey Pines golf course is a short, 15 minute car ride away.
Every room, including the bathrooms, have ocean views.
Kitchen has granite counters, washer/ dryer, dishes, small appliances, oven.
Garage parking for one medium sized car.
Sorry, due to owner's allergies no smoking or pets are allowed.
Perfect for a couple. Due to high windows, it is not suitable for children.
This is a small quiet building. Parties are not permitted.

We stayed at Mary’s place for the months of July and August. We enjoyed every single moment of our summer here. Check in was easy, communication was great and we were very comfortable here. We absolutely loved the ocean views from every room, as well as the proximity to all things La Jolla. Having AC is wonderful, as it can get warm indoors. Looking forward to returning next summer.

The Center of La Jolla

Mary's home is in the center of everything you want in the Village of La Jolla. You look out on the crashing surf of the Cove, with sea lions, pelicans and the occasional parrot to serenade you. Some of San Diego's best shopping and dining are steps away (though, to be fair, mostly uphill steps). This is a busy place, especially on the weekends, as families and tourists come to enjoy the shoreline. So if you are looking for a remote, secluded retreat--this isn't it. But if you want the best of La Jolla and San Diego--you've found it. And if you want to learn about an interesting life--read Mary's book.

Location, location, location

Fabulous views, proximity to everything you would need or want in La Jolla, and parking! Mary was a wonderful host. You'll hear sea lions, waves, and plenty of gulls. This is ground zero for tourists -- a fun and lively vibe but you will be sharing the neighborhood with lots of humans.

Fantastic View

You can’t get a better location at La Jolla than this one. Directly across from Ellen Script’s Park. You can hear sea lions and sea gulls with an occasional wave crashing.

Lovely apt in heart of La Jolla

We enjoyed our stay in Mary's apartment very much. The place is very clean & spacious, exactly as pictured in listing with outstanding views from every window. Beds comfortable (my 17yo daughter slept on office futon & said it was great), wifi excellent, showers hot, lots of extra linens, towels, kitchen & laundry supplies provided. Walking distance to everything, but our Subaru Forester fit into garage & allowed us to do longer road trips from La Jolla. We would stay here again! Thank you Mary!

Location, Location, Location and stellar views!

Very comfortable property with views for days. The pictures look exactly like the condo and the location can't be beat. The owner, Mary, could not be nicer or easier to work with. I enjoyed my 3 week stay at this place and appreciated being close to the cove and sea lions without the stinkiness of the cove and sea lions. Sleeping with the windows open and listening to the ocean set my soul right.

La Jolla Condo

This La Jolla one condo is the best property we have ever rented on Homeaway or any vacation rental service. Incredible views from every room, fully equipped for all our needs - despite all the great restaurants within walking distances, some of which we want to, we prepared wonderful meals “at home” and sat at perhaps one of the best views in La Jolla. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms it is spacious for my wife and I. The second bedroom has a sofa bed so we use it as a den. And there is secure garage parking for one compact car - very valuable in this part of La Jolla. Mary Duncan and her manager Cathleen Christian are always available and helpful. We love this place and will return. This was our second stay in the last year.

The View!

This is really like staying in paradise. The wraparound view of La Jolla Cove is phenomenal and this property has everything you need to make a memorable visit. The cool ocean breezes waft through the windows while you contemplate your day's agenda. Everything in the cove area is within walking distance - even the grocery and Sunday farmers market. The place is immaculate and the owner and manager are both delightful to work with. Off street parking is included which is a big plus in the area.

This property is located in a picturesque location of La Jolla. Excellent restaurants are within walking distance. This lovely home / penthouse condo has a comfortable layout with views of the ocean from every window. Listening to the waves at night added to a calm and relaxing getaway to enjoy with our daughter as she began her first semester of college. A memory we will cherish. So grateful we discovered this listing ! :)

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

It's rare to find a property so close to the beach that you can hear the surf at night. A L little busy with traffic during the day, but with underground parking, you can always come and go at your leisure. Definitely worth a return trip.

Penthouse apartment with amazing view

The location is very good, only a small park before ocean. Also plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The apartment was clean and perfect for three adults. The manager Cathleen was very kind and helpful, not only regarding the apartment but also our whole stay in La Jolla. Thanks again for the tips and recommendations! The only small minus was the hotels quite loud music on Saturday night and the road work nearby. Strong recommendation if you are looking for a original La Jolla apartment with unique view.

Beautiful view & great location

The view, location, & parking space were great. We woke up to the sounds of seagulls and sea lions and watched the sunset each night. We were able to walk to many activities. The only setback was the fact that the elevator had not been inspected in 5 years so we walked up and down from the top floor daily.

Old World La Jolla

Upon arrival, I thought the building and apartment seemed a bit sparse but soon came to realize this was truly an 'old world La Jolla' nostalgic place. The views were beautiful and the apartment was just perfect for our stay with our 2 children. It really grew on us while there, we would walk to get some simple groceries or go out to dinner. I also really enjoyed receiving Mary's book upon arrival. It kept me entertained throughout the weekend and I just finished it on my trip to Europe - fascinating to get a glimpse into the life of the owner, makes it all more special. Cathleen and Mary were most accommodating! I would highly recommend.

Can't wait to come back

This is a beautiful property. Usually the pictures overstate the views, but this was not the case. The views are overwhelming - could look out for hours. The property manager was very cordial and helpful. The Penthouse is in a perfect location and is very comfortable as well as beautiful. I even enjoyed looking through the very eclectic selection of books. The owner seems like someone I'd love to meet. Most important, I brought a young couple with me for their 1st anniversary and they were blown away. La Jolla was a very special place to me and my husband and I didn't think I'd ever get back after his death. What a gift to see a young couple love our place as much as we did. GREAT TIME! GREAT PLACE! 🌞⛱

La Jolla Apt

Enjoyed our stay, great view, clean and comfortable, fun to have the sea lions and seals so close. Was nice to have access to garage as parking is at a premium in this area. Apartment/building is dated, but certainly provided everything we needed for a great trip.

Fantastic Rental

The property was just as pictured in the listing. Walking distance to everything you would want to do in the village of La Jolla. Beautiful views from every room. Had a little hiccup where we were not on the property managers spreadsheet. When I did not get check in information a day before the trip, I contacted Mary and the manager contacted me and resolved it very quickly, so I rated the communication as a 5. Great place, can't wait to go back!

I am a professor emeritus from San Diego State University and now reside in Paris, France part of the year. My husband is an architect and I am a writer with a small publishing company. This apartment has been our La Jolla home since 1981. This is our primary home. We rent when we are traveling.

We enjoy the tranquility in this small eight unit building. Perfect for a couple who prefers fine dining, walks along the ocean, books, shopping and majestic ocean views from every room. We rarely use our car.

Walk to a village with friendly people, ice cream, Margaritas, fine wine and a variety of delicious foods.
Art galleries, cafes, libraries, bookstores, tennis and basketball courts, swimming beaches, park and three blocks away from Seal Beach. Wake up and fall asleep to rolling surf. La Jolla Cove Park is across the street. We have private garage parking in our building.
