Writer's Cove -Chapter One is nestled in a wooded setting just three blocks from Douglas Beach. This 2 BR, 1 Bath duplex includes a seasonal room for extra space. Sleeping accommodations for 4-6 with fold out queen sofa sleeper. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make a great meal. A large deck includes a gas grill, tables, and a fire pit with plenty of seating. Only a 5 minute walk to Douglas Beach, makes this a perfect location for a getaway with family or friends.

Chapter One has hardwood floors throughout, an open living and kitchen area.
This two BR unit has one room with a Queen bed and the other with 2 Twins or use the Split King converter. The living room has a pull out queen sofa and seating for 6 with a flat screen 40" HDTV, Cable TV, DVD player, access to Netflix and full WiFi throughout the house. Equipped with games and a library of reading materials to provide you with the perfect relaxing get away. There is a full size washer and dryer in the unit as well. Pets are also welcome with a required pet fee.

Great summer getaway

We had a wonderful time - the property was perfect for our family and very clean and well-stocked. The location is great - walking distance to Douglas beach and food, and a short drive to everything in Saugatuck. We had a great stay!

Lovely cottage in beautiful low-key beach community

Small but well stocked condo with great screened in porch and landscaped yard. In beautiful, less developed area walkable to Lake. Perfect for a beautiful beach get away.

Darling cottage getaway tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood. Jackie was very accommodating and her home had everything you needed. Loved the back yard and the screen porch. Short drive to everything.Would stay again.

neighborhood duplex close to beach and town

Great duplex near the beach, town and all that Douglas/Saugatuck has to offer. Outdoors deck and back porch make it a real comfort for summer time outdoors.

Perfect!

The property and location exceeded our expectations! Jackie sent a message beforehand and it was so easy to check in and get situated. While we enjoyed our time in downtown Saugatuck and Oval Beach, we really loved the neighborhood and Douglas Beach.Great for walks and riding our bikes. The cottage was so comfortable, we would definitely stay again!

My happy place

The cottage is cozy and comfortable . Lots of games for rainy days but also a great deck for cooking out. We had sā€™mores at the fire pit each night. So, so close to Walking to Douglas beach.

Perfect for young family

We had a fantastic time on our trip. The location was great The house was just a short walk to the public beach area and a 5 minute drive to Saugatuck. The house was really well-stocked with everything that we could possibly need. The kids (7 & 10) had the best time and busied themselves with all of the board games. They declared that they want to go back to this place.

Amazing stay! The host has thought of everything youā€™ll need! This beauty checks all the boxes! Such a restful time! Just steps from the Beach. Starting the mornings with visit from the Deer! Perfect Fit

This property was the perfect fit for my family's get-a-way. It had everything you could need if your plans are to never leave property. You could hole up and take advantage of the wonderful deck or enclosed patio and be perfectly happy and relaxed. It's also close enough to walk and explore Douglas beach or grab a bite to eat in town. Overall wonderful experience here. Would definitely recommend.

Great Getaway

This was the perfect place to stay for a change of pace and scenery at the end of a busy summer. I'm not sure I've ever stayed in a vacation rental that is so well-stocked in the kitchen with cookware, spices and food storage materials. This made things so incredibly easy. Space is limited, but it's so well organized that it doesn't feel that way. The three-season room was a lovely place for meals, and the deck was a lovely place to sit and enjoy visits from the neighbor deer. Highly recommend.

The property and unit in general were very nice. However, the listing for this property did not say that this was actually a duplex. The second night of our stay we had some very noisy neighbors. The listing also did not mention that pets were accepted here. Upon sweeping the floor we found a lot of what looked to be cat hair. Both myself and my husband and also our daughters are allergic to cats, which explains why we would wake up each morning with congestion. That is why I could only give a three-star rating for cleanliness.

Running away from home

Unfortunately my husband doesnā€™t like to travel but I do. So I took a chance and went to a place Iā€™m familiar with which is Saugatuck/Douglas Michigan. Jackieā€™s Place was extremely convenient to Lake Michigan there was a beautiful sunset close to everything nice restaurants friendly people. So probably next year I would like to do the same thing all over again with the husband would be fine but if not Iā€™ll still make the trip .

Fabulous stay at Writer's Cottage

The cottage was absolutely charming and wonderful in every way. It is in a great neighborhood in Douglas with a short walk to the beach and deer everywhere! We so enjoyed seeing them every day. The cottage was extremely clean and had everything we needed- an especially nice kitchen! We loved the big dining table and we enjoyed the firepit on the deck. It was wonderful staying here and we hope to come again soon. The owner is very responsive and super nice. Highly recommend!

What a fantastic place to stay! Jackie provided everything we could have possibly needed for a family vacation! From QR codeā€™s for the local attractions, to games & supplies for the beach & even sā€™mores by the fire pit! The house was very clean & kept nicely, with cute decor! Near Douglas Beach

This home was very comfortable, well stocked, and exactly as shown in the description. Loved the screened in porch and the private back yard. A 5 minute walk to the beach on Lake Michigan was perfect. A great little get-away.

Wonderful, relaxing getaway

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is in a wonderful, peaceful location with a short walk to Douglas beach. Also enjoyed Oval Beach, shopping Butler St. in Saugatuck and the antique pavilion. Great porch and deck for family time playing games and campfires.

Wonderful getaway

Great hosts! We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is a wonderful location, it was so quiet and peaceful, and we really enjoyed seeing all of the wildlife, especially the deer families. The beds were comfy and we really enjoyed the deck in the evenings for fires and stargazing (bring a telescope if you have one). The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. The wi-fi and streaming were great, and we appreciated having a washer and dryer to wash swimsuits and beach towels, etc. The short walk to the beach was lovely, we really enjoyed walking along Lake Shore Drive, such stunning. views! The Douglas beach is great for sunsets and for sitting and walking but for swimming it was way to rocky, but luckily Oval beach is very close and is amazing. We really love the Douglas area, so many great restaurants, highly recommend Farm House Deli, Wild Dog Grille and Penny Royal Cafe, and Virtue Cider.

Wedding Weekend Retreat

My family were all wedding participants at Apple Blossom in Fennville. We stayed at this adorable little cottage for three days. It was perfect. The cottage itself was so well outfitted with everything necessary but the food that we ended up cooking out as we didn't want to leave. The little sun porch was such a nice spot for dining, and the bon fire pit perfect for late evenings relaxing. The beds were really comfy, plenty of hot water, and towels thick and snuggly. And a washer dryer was very helpful. Tips and tricks for nearby activities were posted on the refrigerator, books and board games available, and TV and Internet worked really well, although we did stay outside much of the time. I would definitely stay again...longer if possible.
