We invite you to explore Peaceful Hale, where abundant quiet and serenity, incredible views, sunsets and night skies with rolling hills and lots of open space await you at our end-of-the-road location. Nestled in the Kohala hills at 700' elevation, we enjoy bountiful sunshine (well over 300 days of sun a year) and perpetual, cooling breezes. This is a sturdily built southwestern design three bedroom house, with large wrap around lanai and all the amenities to make you feel very much at home, including a very well stocked kitchen and Weber BBQ for those who enjoy cooking, as well as indoor or outdoor showers with tubs for star-lit evening soaks. Spectacular view from every room. Experience a very unique, rural feel while being only minutes away from world class beaches, excellent snorkeling, diving, surfing, hiking, along with numerous and varied restaurants and the most popular big island resorts.

Kalia was an incredible host who made herself available to us at a moments notice. The property was very clean and sucluded which gave us the privacy we seeled on this trip. The beds were very comfortable and the views to the ocean were amazing which for incredible outdoor dining opportunities. I just wish our stay was a few days.longer. Our family would highly recommend staying at this property.

Beautiful home with an amazing ocean view. The landscaping was phenomenal and helping make it feel so peaceful and relaxing. Very quite location but still easy to get to the Waikoloa or Waimea areas. Great stars at night. Outdoor shower is fun! Laundry was convenient. Owner is excellent at communication and answering any questions. Would definitely stay at again!!

Peaceful Hale is such an accurate name! And the views were the best!

We were immediately "wowed" by the landscaping surrounding the property. Felt like we were in our own private botanical garden...all lovingly planted and maintained by the owner! Then we were "wowed" again by the stunning and serene views. Incredible array of colors with the hills, mountain, sky, ocean, flowers, & trees. We so enjoyed sitting out back and taking it all in. The master bed was so comfortable and waking up to the view from our room was wonderful. Our friends said the queen bed in the other guest room was comfortable as well and they loved their view, too. The outdoor showers were great. Our host Kalia was lovely, and her home is incredibly well-cared for. Communication was easy, either in-person, phone or text. The check-in & check-out processes were a breeze. We would definitely stay again!

Wonderful stay in tropical garden with AMAZING VIEWS

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the location. It’s a beautiful garden setting with other worldly views of the ocean and the gold coast of the big island. The garden is gorgeous and well-maintained and absolutely part of the stay and the outdoor showers and baths are divine. The indoor showers our great too, but I mean when you’re in Hawaii have the outdoor shower with the fragrant flowers, right?. The house is really well situated with everything you need beautiful views from the bedroom the kitchen and the dining room a wonderful deck for playing entertaining. The owner provides a huge selection of stuff for beach, snorkeling, other activities on the big island. it’s only 10 minutes from a store and gas station, 15 minutes to one of the best beaches in the world, literally and 15 minutes from the amazing communities of Hawi and Kapaau. Whether it’s your 20th trip to the big Island or your first, I would highly recommend this space. The owner is incredibly sweet and respectful, and the communication with her was always timely and pleasant.

Kalia and her home are equally wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and did not want to leave! It was truly the perfect oasis after a long day of exploring! Be sure to step outside and view the stars -we got to see the Milky Way! You won’t regret it-book it now!

Relaxing Retreat

My wife and I had a wonderful relaxing time at this beautifully maintained home. We love the gardens, the view of the ocean, and proximity to many wonderful beaches on the Kohala Coast. Kalia is a wonderfully responsive host and she is available while being sensitive to our privacy. Mahalo Kalia for another wonderful stay!

Magical Stay

To say we loved our stay at Kalia’s place is an understatement! House is beautiful, peaceful, well appointed with everything needed, beautiful views, and feels very private. All of us enjoyed our stay . The beds were comfortable. We had plenty of room to relax, and enjoy the beautiful beach nearby. You will not be disappointed!

Even better then the pictures...

My mother-in-law, adult niece and I were fortunate enough to stay at this beautiful home for a week. Believe all the positive reviews. I could go on about the home, the gardens, outdoor showers, stars at night..the list is long. We spent the majority of our time on the lanai drinking in the expansive views. Went to Hapuna Beach for early morning swim just about every day. Hawi town and great hiking up north. Went to Waimea for private lei making experience. Had an awesome burger and award winning IPA at the Brewhaus. Learn about the culture at Historical park and site nearby. Really, I could go on and on. Communication with the owner was great. I would not change a thing..maybe one thing...shoulda' stayed longer! Aloha!

Peaceful and Beautiful

Tucked away on a hillside with absolutely gorgeous landscaping and view. The very large lanai was a welcome place for afternoon cocktails, watching the changing sky into evening and enjoying the soft breeze. Mornings, also gorgeous, we woke to the sounds of birds inviting us to the lanai for coffee and papayas. Another highlight was the outdoor shower in the secluded back yard, also beautifully landscaped. The bed was super comfortable and the house well equipped. Probably perfect for families too but so nice to have whole house to ourselves. Would love to return. If you go you won’t be disappointed.

Perfect stay in paradise

This was our favorite home we’ve ever rented. The property was beautiful and peaceful with an amazing view of the ocean. Loved the outdoor shower and looking up at the stars. The home was very well stocked with cookware and anything else we needed to prepare meals. The grill was clean and worked well. In our 2 week stay we only went out to eat twice because we enjoyed cooking/grilling so much while eating on the outside patio. The owner was so helpful and nearby but respectful of our privacy. She even set us up on a sailboat snorkel cruise. We will definitely be back and are so grateful to have spent time in this gorgeous home on this gorgeous property.

Beyond Expectations in North Kohala

We're a small family of three (two adults, one 9yo) on a first time visit to any Hawaiian island. The big island and Kalia's house in N. Kohala turned out to be amazing strokes of luck. The 2BR house was fantastic and well stocked with beach and kitchen items. Kalia and her daughter were wonderfully warm and helpful, better hosts couldn't be asked for. We rented their car for the duration, highly recommended for reaching the amazing places around the island both close and far. Our stay was late Aug, early Sept which also worked well. Lot's of activities to join but fewer crowds and nice weather.

Amazing stay in paradise

The home itself is a wonderful destination in its own right. The spectacular gardens competed with the stunning long view of the ocean and mountains. The host, Kalia, has anticipated any and all needs in outfitting the house. I can't find enough praise to share about this property that is truly a paradise.

Exceptional!

I don't usually give five-star reviews, but this was the nicest rental we've ever stayed in. The house and gardens are stunning. The lanai was a wonderful place to spend time soaking in the gorgeous view, lovely flowers, chirping birds, and cooling breeze, perfect for sharing a meal or to read and relax. The kitchen was large, modern, and well-furnished. There was a wonderful flow to the house. The bathrooms were gorgeous. The outdoor showers were a delightful way to start the day. The house has snorkel equipment and boogie boards to borrow, which we greatly appreciated. There was plenty of room for two adults and two teens. It was peaceful and tranquil and beautiful. A perfect retreat! Don't hesitate! This place is heaven!

Sunny Bit of Paradise

My wife and I spent the week at Peaceful Hale owned and hosted by a special lady named Kalia. We have stayed here before and decided we would like to come back. Just as we expected, our experience was flawless and relaxing. The property is immaculate and the landscaping is amazing. Peaceful retreat!

We loved our stay! The beautiful tropical gardens surrounding the house are masterfully cultivated to give guests both privacy and gorgeous vistas of the ocean and coastline. The sunsets from the lanai should not be missed. The property is very clean, well stocked, and easy to get to. We appreciated the variety of beach and snorkel gear we could borrow. We will definitely be referring friends until we can return for another stay.

Dreamy

This must be the most beautiful rental we’ve ever stayed at. The views are spectacular from sun-up through stargazing at night. The lānai is perfectly set up to be outside with comfy lounge chairs, table and chairs, and a hammock. Landscaping is just stunning. Inside is also very comfortable for gathering and sleeping. The outdoor showers are so fun - just have to make sure you’re aware of the reverse temp controls. The owner does a great job respecting the land with soap products and composting. We lacked for nothing. I would very much enjoy coming back!

Clean, spacious, tranquil

We loved our stay so much and we’re sad to go. It was so quiet and off the beaten ( but not too far away) path that we could really relax. So close to crystal clear beaches.

Wonderful, Peaceful Hale

This is the second time we have stayed on Kalia's property which, in itself speaks volumes. The first time was in her smaller unit down the hill from the one we stayed out this time. This unit, the Peaceful Hale was just perfect for the two of us, although it would easily accommodate four. The house if beautifully furnished and restful. It is surrounded by fabulous gardens that screen all sides (except the magnificent ocean views) and the delicious fragrance of flowers drifted through the rooms. There was almost always a slight breeze to enjoy on the lanai, and the house itself was comfortable even after being closed up for most of a day. There were three tower fans for any times it was a little warm. The Hale is down a long driveway, far away from other neighbors. Its very safe because of the isolation. Not a dog barking was heard. Birds gently awakened us in the cool mornings. The kitchen was not huge, but it lacked for nothing in terms of cooking appliances and utensils. We enjoyed the master bedroom/bath outdoor shower every day of our stay - it was heavenly. Nearby Spencer Beach State Park was one of our favorite places to hang out, people watch, enjoy the beach and watch for whales. It was also fun watching the surfers and boogie boarders at nearby Kawaihae Harbor - also a great place for a picnic. For snorkelers, the Mahukona Beach Park, 10 miles away, provides a great, protected water entry point. And all the snorkel (and other beach) gear you would ever need is available in the Peaceful Hale garage. Kalia is a great host who is very pleasant and attentive. We would highly recommend the Peaceful Hale for couples and families. You won't want to leave.

Best house ever!

This is the best house we have ever stayed in from VRBO! The house is so beautiful you don't even want to leave to go to the nearby beaches. We had an amazing time and already checking our calendar to see when we can come back. The hosts are kind and the home has everything you need. Loved it!!

A nice stay

My husband and I stayed three nights at this beautiful property in September. The nights were pretty warm but we were still able to sleep with the fans on and windows open. We were able to hear the people at the other rental property down the driveway a few times but it wasn't too bothersome. It was nice to be off the beaten path and the stars at night were lovely. Overall a nice stay.

After living in the mountains of the NW I was wanting warm winters. I was pleasantly surprised to find this area with the temperature staying between the mid 60s and high 80's year around along with the "friendly" ocean environment. Feels like heaven!

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

I fell in love with this property for the incredible views, end of road location, spacious feel, and perfect climate. I built the home with forms that then get concrete poured in to make very thick concrete walls. It has proven to be a perfect way to build for this area.
