Ellis Haven offers you an ideal combination of a lovely and tranquil home away from home, with convenience to everywhere you want to go in Ithaca.

A perfect retreat for Ithaca College and Cornell families, gorge hikers, swimmers, wine trailers, bunny and bird watchers, or anyone looking for a quiet paradise less than 10 minutes from downtown Ithaca.

The guest suite / studio apartment sleeps up to 4, with a queen size pillow top mattress and a comfy full size futon.

Indoors amenities:
Private entrance, A/C unit, large studio style guest area includes private fully equipped kitchen, dining area, sitting area, sleeping area with plush pillow top mattress & thick, comfy double futon, private bath, high speed wireless internet, roku /cable, dvd player, organic coffee & teas.

Outdoors amenities:
Lovely grounds, seasonal in-ground swimming pool and seating area with table/chairs/umbrella, anti-gravity lounge chairs, tree house, basketball hoop, pond (for viewing), & glider rocker to enjoy the view & spectacular sunsets.

Our living space is upstairs, and guests have a private entrance. We are available as needed, but respect your privacy.

Plenty of parking in the driveway and a quick drive to Ithaca College (very close), downtown, Cornell, and the state parks.

No smoking and no pets please. Children welcome.

Great place!

Sherri has a great place to stay in the Ithaca area! We were able to cook a homemade meal in the kitchen for our son and friends, visit Watkins Glen, several wineries, a couple of breweries, Cornell campus, a farmers’ market, and the town of Ithaca in a quick 2 day stay, all within driving distance of Ellis Haven! The property is clean, well-stocked and organized, and Sherri has a binder of info about the area and a list of things to do for every season! Would definitely stay here again!

A great place to relax and enjoy nature

The gardens and surrounding area are very beautiful and ideally suited for a couple wanting to "decompress". You can choose from many interesting spots where to sit and read a book and listen to nature. We were here on a reunion trip and didn't get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked so we plan to be back to spend more time. Thank you

Roadtrip with the Grandkids

We had a wonderful time at Ellis Haven, where we took 2 of our grandsons as a last hoorah before they start school. They had a great time in the pool and making Smores by the fire pit. The studio was very clean and neat and cozy. We pretty much had everything we needed. The owner's Sherri and Mike were very welcoming and hospitable. All of Sherri's tips in her binder came in very handy we we're able to visit 3 of the waterfall parks listed there and we took the boys to The Museum of Earth, which was perfect for them. We are very grateful to Sherri and Mike for providing such a wonderful Haven.

Great place to stay.

Huge apartment, the entire basement of the house. Bed is super comfortable. Use of a pool! Nice owners. Someone noted lack of bedroom plugs. There is a power strip next to the bed, so not an issue any more. The only thing to note is that this is a daylight basement, and there is a damp smell. Humidifiers are running, but the smell is definitely there. We were not bothered, but this could be an issue for some.

Thanks for staying with us, and taking the time to write a review as well. It was a pleasure having you here. We always welcome feedback on how to improve our guest space, and wanted to note that we are installing an A/C unit to further decrease the humidity. We also think the smell may have been more noticeable because a plumber had been clearing a grease clog in the guest space and flooded the floor under the sink. It took a little time to dry properly, but seems to have abated now. Our apologies!

Lovely location

This is a beautiful place to stay. It is above average in my opinion because they supply you with little extras that other places don't. There were condiments and 2 kinds of creamers in the fridge and 2 different coffee makers. There were paper towels and tin foil etc. The pool was amazing also, just wish the weather would have been better during our stay. The flowers all around the property make for an awesome view and our little guys loved the treehouse! Mike and Sherri are great people. I thought it might be awkward staying here while the family was home but not at all! They are so nice and really care. They want to make your stay pleasant. The only negative thing that I could say about our stay is that because this space is below the family's living space you can hear them walking around above, more so in the mornings. If you tend to be up by around 8 then I would not hesitate to stay here! This place was close to just about everything! I was pleasantly surprised that even in town it's not an extremely busy area so I really enjoyed that. We would definitely come back to stay at Ellis Haven!!

We are very mindful of moving quietly, particularly in the earlier and later hours. However this week our daughter had a friend from out of town staying with us, with an early morning camp commitment, so we were out of our usual rhythm. We always appreciate feedback so we can improve our guests' experiences, and will continue to stay mindful of our footsteps.

Exceeded our expectations

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ellis Haven for four nights. The owners had great attention to detail. Many notes explained how to use Kuerig, ac unit and TV. Lots of privacy with separate entrance. Mike went out to get cream so we would have it for morning coffee. Kcups were also provided. A bucket of ice had been made in the freezer. Location is a short drive to Ithaca, a cute town with good restaurants. Thanks to these owners who know how to provide an exceptional VRBO experience!!

good place to stay

My daughter and her son stayed there for two nights to see parks and a museum. Weather was rainy so they couldn't use the pool but still enjoyed themselves.

Relaxing weekend getaway

My family and I can all agree this was such an amazing and relaxing place to spend our weekend. Sherri was very organized, helpful and so sweet! I hope to be able to stay there again in the future, we all felt right at home the entire time!

Great apartment in beautiful location

We had a great stay in this peaceful location, in this well-equipped, and immaculate apartment! We appreciated having a full kitchen and lots of space, and it is an easy, short drive to Ithaca, and the colleges. Sherri and Mike provided information on all there is to do in the local area, and we enjoyed walks around the gorges and the parks, going to the market and exploring downtown. We hope to visit again!

Great Hospitality

This was a very beautiful place to stay and the hospitality was amazing. It was fully furnished with everything we needed, even some charging cables and adapters which was awesome because i forgot my house adapter for my cell phone. My kids really enjoyed the pool and the basketball hoop

Kindness and Relaxation

I stayed at Ellis Haven with my two kids. We had an amazing time in the pool and treehouse. Sherri really went out of her way to make us feel welcome and even left my kids a couple of surprises. The pool and grounds were beautiful and beyond well-maintained. The house was full of little organized notes to help me know how to use items or options we had without having to reach out with questions. However, anything we asked or preferred Sherri and Mike kindly provided. It was a lovely trip and I would highly recommend their home. It felt safe and clean and friendly. A lovely retreat. Thank you so much!! Can’t wait to return.

A Relaxing Getaway

My daughter and I greatly enjoyed our stay! We needed a place away from the crowds to kick off our summer and this was the perfect spot! We spent hours in the pool everyday. The suite was spacious and comfortable. It was an easy drive into Ithaca for restaurants and grocery stores, and the state parks were nearby as well. It was a relaxing getaway!

Lovely Winter Getaway!

We adored this wonderful property for celebrating New Year's Eve in Ithaca, NY. Communication with Sherri was seamless and the property exceed our expectations! Very Accomidating

Sherri was very flexible and a gracious host. The kitchen was well stocked and the towels were fluffy. The backyard was beautiful and had it been warmer would have loved to dip in the very inviting pool.

This place met all our needs for our time away from home.

The location of this unit worked out well for us because it was near all the hiking in the state parks that we wanted to do. We also enjoyed the amount of space in the unit.

Lovely property in great location

We stayed at Ellis Haven for college check in weekend and had a wonderful stay. Sherri was extremely helpful and the property and accommodations were clean, comfortable and all around enjoyable. The location is very convenient to both Ithaca College and Cornell, as well as downtown Ithaca and many of the other local attractions such as hiking, shopping and dining. All around a wonderful experience, we’ll definitely be back!

Comfy, convenient and close to Cornell!

This very nice home away listing features a quiet, private basement apartment, lovely yard/ gardens and pool, and Sherri and her family seriously couldn’t be any nicer!! About an 8-10 minute drive from Cornell, and also convenient to other finger lake attractions - my family took a quick trip to Watkins Glen about 45 min away. The apartment is comfortable and well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily return!

We (Mike, Sherri, & Emma) moved to "Ellis Haven" in the summer of 2014. We feel very grateful to call this sweet spot home, and enjoy sharing it with others.

Mike and Sherri both work at a local mental health clinic - Mike in youth services, and Sherri in intake. Emma is a junior in college studying musical theater.
