Beautiful lakeview cottage on Friends Lake

The cottage is nestled among the pines with a beautiful view of the lake from the front deck. It is rare to find an Adirondack lake with no public access, which is shared with a small home owners association.
The cottage is very comfortable and set up with all the basic amenities along with cable and Wi-Fi, the only thing you need to bring are your own beach towels and your Adirondack spirit.
Centrally located in the southern Adirondacks it's about a 15 minute drive to the historic village of North Creek, Warrensburg and Cronin's Golf Course and about 30 minutes to Lake George Village, The Painted Pony Rodeo, Six Flags Amusement Park and many other Adirondack activities.
We look forward to being your Adirondack escape for years to come.

*Friends Lake is completely free of invasive species, and in order to keep it that way, we can not allow renters to bring/launch their own boats (This includes; Kayaks, Canoes, Rowboats, Motorized boats of any kind, Paddle Boats, etc.). Thank you for your understanding.* That being said, during your stay there is a rowboat for your private use. Also the owner has two kayaks that you can use during your stay and they are only shared with one other cottage.

*Due to the size of the cabin, the owner requests that renters bring no more than 2 dogs*

Our family (6 adults, 1 toddler) rented both cottages for the week. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. It is surrounded by pine trees and just a 2 minute walk to the beach. We could see the lake from the deck. We enjoyed the beach, especially my grandson and the water was so clear. Our family made use of the kayaks. Amanda was easy to communicate with during the rental process. Dan came over and showed us beach area and which kayaks and row boats were for us to use. We had a wonderful time and hope to return next year.

We had the most fantastic time again in this sweet cottage on Friends Lake...this was our 4th time renting one of the cottages from Amanda and Dan and we will absolutely be back next summer! This year we used the kayaks that the host provides mich more because the weather was perfect, and took hikes at Stewart Mountain (great view of Loon Lake) and the Pinnacle Trail (great view of Lake George). Also, there is a great Farmers Market in Chestertown on Wednesdays and we got a nice haul of locally grown/sourced items. We also took a drive down to Saratoga for Tree House Brewery and walked our dogs at some of the nice parks. So many options to fill your day in between enjoying the gorgeous Friends Lake. Oh! And this year we saw bald eagles on Friends Lake! And a mama loon with her baby! It is a magical place.

A perfect vacation for our small family! We swam, used the rowboat, had fires and stargazed. The kitchen was just what we needed for meals in, and the rooms were cozy even with temps ranging 87 degrees to 50 overnight! The location was also great, it was new to us exploring the southern part of the park and we will definitely go again! Amanda was super helpful and this is the CLEANEST cottage I have ever rented!

This was our second time at this cottage. We enjoyed it fully. Dan was very helpful, came over to welcome us and answer any questions we had. The cabin is stocked with just about anything one would need and we find it very comfortable.

Enjoyed the cottage and the area

Great, comfortable little cottage. The owner has thought to supply just about everything you could need. It was clean and fresh. There was an area wide power outage when we arrived due to a big storm. The owner had taken the time to hook up a generator so we had a light and power to the refrigerator. Power was back on in a couple of hours. We would absolutely stay there again. Our dog absolutely loved the front deck overlooking a view of the lake through the trees.

3rd time staying in the cabins owned by Dan and Amanda and it was the perfect getaway for me, my husband and our 2 dogs, Jovie (Basset Hound) and Sadie (Chihuahua Mix). This was our first time staying in this cabin, which is just slightly closer to the little beach. We cooked on the grill several times, made fires in the fire pit almost every night, had our coffee on the deck every morning, and spent 5 of our days on the lake because the weather was spectacular! We swam, kayaked, played with the dogs, sunbathed, read, listened to music, met and chatted with the locals and their grandkids (everyone was super friendly). There is a ton to do locally, and we did go to Saratoga Springs for the day (55 minute drive) mid-week, but didn’t explore anywhere else this time. We honestly needed a R&R vacation and this one was perfect. We will be back again!

Week at the lake

Very nice, clean cabin. Super easy to check in and great communication. All our questions were quickly answered and addressed.Cabin is fully stocked, full kitchen, beautiful porch. Although there wasn't air, the cabin has plenty of fans and stayed quite cool Short walk to the beach and lake. Great for swimming boating and just relaxing.Dog had a great time too. There is a large hill to tackle if you feel like taking a walk. A little challenging....Quick ride to town for groceries, an ice cream or the Wednesday farmers market.Very happy with our relaxing trip to Friends Lake.

Inaccurate Listing & Overall disappointing experience

The host was kind but heads up—this is not water front, and not private ! We booked this place based on the fact that it was listed as “waterfront” and “private dock and beach” and it was far from the truth. The beach and docks were shared with many houses and it was always crowded when we were there. It really took away from the experience. The host was nice and located right across the way so always around/close by and available. I’m sorry, we left after a few nights because of how crowded it was 😵‍💫😩

We make every effort to provide a clear and accurate description of the property to assist with making vacation decision, the property has never been marketed as "waterfront", The heading states " Beautiful lakeview cottage" and the description states "beautiful view of the lake from the front deck". I'm dissapointed that there was a misinterpretation which had a negative effect on your experience with such a beautiful location and cottage.

Friends Lake cottage

Excellent communication before arrival. Super clean and easy check in. Dan met us when we arrived and answered all our questions. Was easy to find throughout the stay. Cabin is older, but clean and furniture, appliances and such were great. Path to the cabin and beach are a little steep...bring good shoes. And plan to take them off indoors as the sand and pine needles are abundant. Porch is nice but if it rains there is no roof and it gets a little slippery. It was great we could bring our dog...a few other dogs on the beach...so your dog should be social . Great beach with chairs, tables, rowboat and kayaks to share. Friendly year round and rental neighbors... Nice walk up the road..quiet, woodsy. Town is about 10 minutes away, great ice cream, stocked tops market and Walgreens, nice farmers market on wedsday and a few small shops. A couple of nice restaurants too. Overall a great week...swimming, relaxing,walking the dog. Power went out for a couple hours...could use a better flashlight and candles or bring some just in case. Would go back - really nice vacation.

We loved our week at Friends Lake with our family of four and dog. The cabin was super clean and well-appointed, with everything we needed to feel at home and prepare meals throughout the week. We loved campfire dinners at the fire pit, grilling on the front deck, and enjoying our morning coffee with the peaceful lake views. The swim beach is nearby, and we had fun with the kayaks and rowboat. Communication with the hosts was also excellent. The location was great too - close to restaurants and shops in Chestertown and a perfect home base for exploring other lakes and towns in the area. It was a memorable week for our family, and we would love to return!

Awesome week away at the lake!

Our family of four plus our pup really enjoyed our stay at Friends Lake! The accommodations were just as we expected - rustic, homey and the location was perfect. The walk to the lake took about one full minute. We enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, swimming dock and sandy beach. The only crit I have is the lack of out door furniture at the house. It would've been nice to have a table out on the deck for dining, and some Adirondack chairs around the fire. Also a foot wash outside for sand, dirt and pine needles. We had a tough time keeping up with that. Overall- great adk experience - we would rent again for sure!

Most wonderful vacation on Friends Lake in 33 yrs!

Awesome, entire cottage sparkling clean, quaint knotty pine doors & closets, PERFECT for husband and I in 1 bedroom & my son & his girlfriend. So many great amenities/supplies-linens, every type of dishware-even real glasses, pots and pans, tablecloths inside table & huge picnic table, outside balcony/deck facing beach and the lake, comfy furniture in living room, HUGE recliner which I called “dibs” on for EVERY day, fans, boom box, silverware & utensils to the hilt, tools-screwdrivers, etc. flashlights, clean/pristine shower, huge wooden bookcase/shelves to store 4 peoples’ toiletries, hair dryer, etc, they also supplied a hair dryer, cabinet with mirror, kitchen supplies, large refrigerator which held all our stuff with room to spare, small back deck by door for storage, storage also under balcony… I’d better stop because I use 250 words when I probably could say it in 25! The picture of the beach on the website DOES NOT do it justice! It’s much bigger! Calmness & sereneness when down there. Super super friendly families that we shared the beach with. Great fishing! My nephew came up one day with his son, my great nephew to go fishing with my son. They started at like 6:05 am & didn’t come in till noon for lunch. Dave, the host Amanda’s father was there our week. Amanda was out of town. Met Dave down at the beach-super super person. He chatted with us & told us all the details about the lake and the beach. We didn’t meet the host Amanda but we did meet Dave’s fiancée Theresa. (I hope I remembered her right name!) They both were so accommodating. caring & kind which I’m sure Amanda is just like them. Our stay was 1,000% awesome & we’re going back next year & forever after that! Christine & Rich

Place to relax

Overall it was a wonderful place to relax. It was quite and everyone around were very friendly. My senior dog was able to swim which made her and me very happy. The only thing I thought was missing was a cutting board. Going forward it would be nice to see the cottage being brightened up as it was quite dark even sunny days and some branches should be trimmed in order to continue to have the lake view. Would I return, absolutely

Beautiful Lakeside Cabin

We really enjoyed our stay at this property! The area is so scenic and the house is a less than one minute walk from a beautiful lake. The cabin was very cute and well kept and clean, and the owners were there to meet us when we arrived to help make sure we had everything we needed. They were very kind, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. This property is a great place to relax with family in a non-crowded area with beautiful scenery. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others!

40th anniversary get away

We had a wonderful time. We were slightly confused when we first arrived since the GPS kept stopping us just short of the house but Amanda was quick to respond. She showed us around and gave🚥 us some tips on where everything was. The place was clean and inviting. We would definitely come back. This was our first time in the Adirondack area and we loved it!

Great spot on Friends Lake

Charming cottage on Friends Lake with front porch overlooking the lake and fire pit and picnic table on property. Amanda was very responsive to any questions we had and House was spotless when we arrived. We would definitely rent here again.

It was perfect for small dogs with enclosed back porch that they couldn't get off of

Only issue was the boat we brought 23" ft pontoon was too big to launch safely and dock wasn't big enough for it as well

The cottage is set on a private lot with a picnic table, fire pit and deck on the front that overlooks the lake.
I have everything that you need in place, complete bed linens, comforters, bath towels and wash cloths.
Less than a football field away you have a pristine lake, sandy beach, and rowboat , so that all you need to bring are your beach towels.
