Great Getaway

This was the perfect setup for my wife and I and our 4 children. The fact we got to live the cabin life within a few minutes of all the main Dells attractions was wonderful. We really enjoyed using the kayak, rowboat and fire pit that were on site. We caught lots of fish right off the dock including sunfish, perch, small and large mouth bass. The kids played in the sandy beach and we loved playing board games and eating meals on the big wrap around deck. We would rent this cabin again.

Cabin was on lake which had a beautiful view. It was large enough for the short time we were there. Bathrooms were nicely updated but rest of the cabin needs updates.We could not get any channels on the tv.You definitely pay for location and view.

It's a small cabin on the lake. We don't mind outdoorsy places so this was fine for us (5 of us, 3 boys). Not sure we'd stay here again though.What we loved: it was on the lake and had a pier to fish off of. It had a kayak and life jackets. We used the outdoor seating and it was awesome - but it was covered in pine tree sap (very sticky!) There is a second half bath that wasn't in pictures that I can recall. There are two window air con units - one in the living room, the other in the master bedroom. There were two small fans and a ceiling fan for the bedroom without air. It's close to everything - a quick 5 minute drive gets you to all the good places.Wasn't great: there aren't any basics - no hand soap, no tissues, no salt or pepper. There are dishes and pots/pans (you'll want to wash before using). The place wasn't clean. Stove top was sticky and burners were very dirty, all floor corners had dirt in them. Some bugs. When I was picking up to leave I looked under the beds - there was other people's stuff under there and lots of dirt/hair. I personally did not like that they emailed separately from the VRBO app. Their emails went into junk and I didn't realize you had to go to their office to pick up the keys. I assumed it was a lock box on property like all other VRBOs. Nothing we couldn't overcome, but not ideal.Other stuff: there were hair dryers but I didn't try them - they did not look like they were in good shape. There were plenty of towels for the bathroom.

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the lakefront location, the pier, the kayak, and the convenience of being just minutes from all the Dells attractions. It’s also great to know the outdoor seating and extra half bath were helpful during your stay. I’m truly sorry for the cleaning and maintenance issues you encountered. The sticky stovetop, dirty burners, floor corners, sap on the outdoor seating, (Very hard to control the sap from trees as it falls daily) and items left under the beds are not the standard we aim to provide. We appreciate you noting the absence of basic items like hand soap and tissues; while the cottage description explains that we provide essential starter supplies and encourage guests to bring items such as salt, pepper, oil, and paper towels, the home should still have been properly cleaned and ready for your arrival. The ant activity and bugs you noticed will be addressed through additional pest control and a deeper inspection of the cabin.

We enjoyed our stay. The property was as expected. For the price we paid, we did not expect luxury accommodations. We had everything we needed, and except for some sticky windows, everything worked fine. The beds were comfortable and so was the outdoor furniture. It was definitely better than renting a motel room! The people I talked to when making the reservation, when getting additional questions answered, when checking in, were all very friendly and helpful.We enjoyed our stay. The property was as expected. For the price we paid, we did not expect luxury accommodations. We had everything we needed, and except for some sticky windows, everything worked fine. The beds were comfortable and so was the outdoor furniture. It was definitely better than renting a motel room!
