Plush King size mattress with down topper, 2 mirrored nightstands flank the custom-made upholstered headboard. Further enhancing the serenity of the bedroom are 3 swarvoski crystal light fixtures.

High-end fully stocked modern kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, quartz counter-tops, polished concrete floors and dining for six makes this the ideal location. The apartment offers air conditioning, heating, a washer and dryer for your comfort, and convenience.

Amazing Mission Hills hideaway!

We absolutely loved staying at this spacious apartment! Kathleen and John are incredibly kind and the best hosts!!!Everything you need for a great stay is included and I loved the well-stocked, large kitchen - many an amazing meal was made there over our 6 week stay. Bed was very comfortable too (did not try the couch fold-outs).Also, the neighborhood could not be any better - for being in an urban area of San Diego, this apartment is in a serene area of Mission Hills overlooking a canyon though walking distance to many great restaurants, two grocery stores and two small markets plus lots of other cool businesses (i.e. yoga studios and coffee shops). The area is amazing to walk around too to see many historic and beautiful homes. Parking was always available on the street and felt safe. (Note: there are about 20 outside steps to access this apartment - not recommended for anyone with mobility or stamina limitations.)Next time I need a place in San Diego, I hope I can stay here!

Awesome place

I was in town for work and found this great place. The host was so accommodating and helpful. They really made sure I had everything needed while away from home. Plenty of street parking and quiet neighborhood, however stores were not far away.

The perfect spot

This was our first long stay in San Diego and we were so pleased that we chose this location. We were able to get to know San Diego by using public transportation only. And this place was so affordable for Mission Hills. We easily walked to bus stops, grocery stores and restaurants. This is the most spacious studio I have ever seen. For the space and the location this place is really good. It is private and there is a canyon view. Be aware that this is a lower level apartment with an exercise porch above it that is used daily. There is a well lit, safe stairway to get to the apartment. Not a problem for this mid seventies couple. Small trade offs for the affordability and location. Our hosts were very welcoming and responsive to our requests. Also the apartment is remarkably well stocked.Thank you to Kathleen and John

Loved this rental

We had the perfect stay here. John greeted us on arrival and helped with our luggage. We later met Kathleen. The place is private and quiet. Everything we needed for our month stay was there. The kitchen, dining and living room were larger than the listing indicates (bonus!). The bathroom has a large shower and 2 sinks w/ mirrors. There were plenty of towels, even beach towels. I can’t think of a negative thing to say. We will definitely be booking again!

Perfection

We stayed for the entire month of February and loved every minute. Looks exactly like the photos: a beautiful space with extremely well equipped kitchen, excellent wifi, and absolutely wonderful hosts. King bed is extremely comfortable, bathroom is luxuriously large (and with lots of luxe towels), and full sized washer and dryer much appreciated during a long stay. Lovely private patio overlooking a lush green canyon. Close to public transit with easy access to Old Town, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Little Italy, the Embarcadero and much more. Walk to grocery, pharmacy, coffee shops and lots of restaurants. Just perfect. Note that you do (as in the description) need to be able to negotiate the equivalent of almost 3 flights of outdoor stairs to access the unit, since the house is built into one of Mission Hills many canyons.

Enjoyable stay

The apartment was well suited for my needs. It was clean and well stocked. The owners responded quickly to all questions. It is in a nice neighborhood and has good freeway access making it easy to get to anywhere in San Diego.

Wonderful apartment, hosts, and location

This is a lovely apartment overlooking a San Diego canyon giving it a remote feel in the center of the Mission Hills urban neighborhood. The accommodations provided everything we could have asked for, and Kathleen and John (our hosts) were unintrusive and very accommodating. The open space design and furnishings were comfortable, and the wall of windows looking out on the canyon provided a relaxing natural vista. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. The dining area and living room space easily accommodated visits from our extended family. The bedroom, bathroom with his and her sinks, and the closet add to the spacious feel of this otherwise cozy apartment. Completing the convenience is an in-apartment laundry (washer and dryer) making this rental a delightful home away from home. We definitely will look forward to booking this property again on our future trips to San Diego.

Business Trip to San Diego

I was in San Diego to work downtown for a few weeks. The location was very convenient for that purpose. I really just need a place to sleep. The hosts were very concerned about making sure my stay would be comfortable.

Great place to stay!

The apartment sits in front of a beautiful valley, with a ton of flowers in full bloom during our visit in May. We had friendly neighborhood cats and humming birds visit us occasionally. The location was great, we were always a short drive away from downtown, the beach, and other attractions such as Balboa Park. Additionally there is a Vons 2 min away, which made groceries convenient. We were initially worried about street parking being full, but we always found a parking spot on the same block. Kathleen and John were wonderful hosts, we would recommend this place to others!

Perfect Location

We had a very relaxing stay while visiting our daughter @ USD. The neighborhood was quiet but had plenty to do within close walking distance. We visited a few really good restaurants and the grocery store was only a couple of blocks away. Everything we wanted to do in San Diego was within a few miles of the property. Even with traffic, we spent less than 15 minutes in the car to get to most attractions. Parking was on the street but very easy. We stayed 9 nights and never parked more than a few steps away from the unit. There was always plenty of parking available. The apartment had plenty of space and did not feel cramped at all. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed to "eat in" if that was necessary. The private patio off of the unit was a nice area to sit and unwind. Overall, our stay was a very pleasant experience.

Beautiful space, wonderful neighborhood, attentive hosts

After moving across the country to San Diego for work, I needed a place to serve as home base for a month until I could find somewhere more permanent. My only regret about booking this VRBO is that it set the bar for San Diego living really high! Quiet neighborhood with ample street parking, walking distance from groceries, any cuisine I could think of, all sorts of bars, and a quick drive/lyft to Downtown/Gaslamp/Petco Park, Balboa Park and the Zoo, and the beaches. There are things I'd do differently about my first crosscountry move if I did it again, but I wouldn't change anything about renting a place like this so that I could focus on the new job and finding the right place for a lease instead of trying to do it all online before moving out!

Spacious and Quiet

Our hosts, Kathleen and John, were awesome. They helped us with our luggage and made sure that we had all the amenities we needed. When the toaster went on the fritz, they replaced it by the next day The neighborhood is quiet and pretty. Even though parking is on the street we never had a problem finding a spot on our block.

Adorable designer get away

This place is so cute and has everything you would need. The decor with grey and green was really nice High end kitchen that is very open and spacious. Kathleen and John are the best hosts. We enjoyed meeting them. They are there for anything you need but we also felt very private un our little hideaway. Loved the neighborhood. Walk to some great restaurants and there is a theater under the stars that was really a fun experience. Great coffee place that even had an outdoor local music concert. Enjoyed our stay. The only criticism would be screens for the doors as there was a nice breeze but lots of bugs while we were ther.e. The AC works fantastic so keeping the door open was just our preference. Would stay here again if we return to this area.

Falcon Nest

Kathleen and John are great hosts. There are several steps to climb to street level, but they are lighted and there is a handrail, and several flower pots. I mention this because I am 81 and had no trouble at all negotiating them. The apartment is large with a kitchen that has everything anyone could want. There is a king size bed plus an enormous shower, wifi throughout, tv, etc. All said it was a perfect place for me. Excellent restaurants are within four or five blocks as well as MTS bus stops - an easy walk. I used Uber which is available very quickly. Overall it was an excellent stay, and the hosts were extremely helpful as needed.

Great quiet place for a getaway!

This is a beautiful property that is located in a quiet section of San Diego that was perfectly located for us during our stay for SDCC. The area was quiet the entire time we were there and Kathleen was eager to help us with anything we needed. We will definitely try to stay here again in the future!

Instaworthy! Location Decor +Service= First Class

I have stayed in many VRBO apartments, condos and houses all over the world. I have to say, this VRBO apartment sets the bar high. The bed was amazing! Comfortable and large (King). The apartment has a "New York loft " kind of feel..wide open floor plan and the large gourmet kitchen! Wow! Everything is new..all the appliances, pans, dishes and of high quality. The front is all windows looking into the canyon. You feel very private. The owners are always available should you need anything. I enjoyed the small unexpected details. ..a bottle of wine in the fridge for my enjoyment upon arrival, along with a few eggs and cheese, milk, coffee. ( I arrived very late from an International flight and she was so kind as to ask me if I wanted her to do a little shopping so I had breakfast the next morning!) Shops , restaurants, yoga and a 24-hour gym in walking distance. Scooters for rent 2 blocks away on most corners of the main street. I am a single woman I felt very safe at all times. As I mentioned before the bar has been raised! I will come back and stay again at this lovely retreat! I highly recommend a long stay at this Mission Hills apartment!

Central private green oasis with generous host

We loved our stay at Falcon's Nest from the moment we arrived to Kathleen's warm welcome. The apartment is bright and open with a fantastic view of the canyon. It is central to shopping, restaurants and public transit in a lovely historic neighbourhood. The apartment itself is super clean, well equipped and a joy to spend time in. We especially enjoyed sunny mornings on the patio and relaxing in the stylish indoors in the evenings after a busy day in the city. The host was available (just a text away) but respected our privacy and kindly offered to pick up anything that would add to our stay. Kathleen is a true ambassador to the city she clearly loves. Her enthusiasm, generosity and goodwill were so very appreciated by us. Highly recommended!

It is extremely safe, and the properties within the neighborhood are all unique and many have historic designations. I have traveled extensively through United States, Europe and Central America. I have utilized the services of VRBO and I understand what travelers need. I love San Diego, and hope that I can introduce you to all of the many attractions, plus some of my favorite restaurants and shops.

Mission Hills is surrounded by many gorgeous canyons. We love this property because it is nestled on the canyon floor. It is peaceful and quiet and the perfect vacation sanctuary.When you are in the apartment you feel like to have escaped from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet within minutes you can drive to all of the major attractions.
