Enjoy complete privacy and comfort in this tastefully appointed 1 bedroom, 1 bath garden cottage located in the charming tree-lined neighborhood of Mount Carmel in Redwood City.

The cottage is a stand alone, custom built home, nicely situated behind a charming 1920's main house. It has its own private lit entry path through a lush garden, separate front entrance, relaxing patio garden and plentiful on street parking.

The cottage was designed and furnished by a professional interior designer with attention paid to all the details that make a space inviting and relaxing for short and long term guest stays.

This cottage is conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Redwood City and the Cal Train station offering (35 minute) service to San Francisco and San Jose. It's also within easy commute distance to Facebook, Google, and Oracle, (and their shuttle stops) and just 7 miles from Stanford University and downtown Palo Alto.

The light-filled cottage features a spacious living room with comfortable seating, gas fireplace, dining area and well equipped gourmet kitchen.

Both the living room area and bedroom have sliding french doors which open onto a private patio garden complete with outdoor furniture, umbrellas, water feature and gas BBQ.

The well appointed bedroom has a queen size pillow top bed, built-in reading lights with remote, high quality linens, large closet with built-in's, operable skylight and black out draperies/shades.

The modern bathroom has a tub/shower, high quality towels/linens, hair dryer and extra storage as well as its own in unit washer and dryer, ironing board and iron located behind sliding mirrored doors for easy access.

Quiet central heating and air conditioning throughout.

Come with your clothes - this is a super simple option for anyone in transition for a move or relocation, for a seasonal getaway or just a 'need space' on your own for a while type of place. The host has thought of everything you'll need and more. My husband and I were in between on our move and found this to be a perfect spot to re-energize between our move-out and move-in. Lovely patio area for some outside space, complete with BBQ. A unique and very walkable neighborhood, as well as to stroll to downtown Redwood City restaurants. It's really hard to do better!

Amazing cottage and the host, Kirsten, is so attentive. I stayed at this Vrbo for almost 2 months and had no issues whatsoever. The cottage is extremely private, spacious, and modern. The neighborhood itself is quiet and central to lots of shops and restaurants.

We can’t say enough great things about this property or Kirsten. Fabulous location in a very quaint and lovely neighborhood. Kirsten has thought of everything (including a binder that addressed every question we could’ve had), is always available and makes you feel warm and welcome at all times. A wonderful experience all the way around!

Excellent place!

Stayed for over two months. The place was very clean and spacious. The environment feels very welcoming, from the garden path in the entrance to the cozy decorations. The location is excellent. It’s just a 15-20m walk and a 5m bike ride away from Redwood City. I was able to receive mail without issue. It is also very private and feels very secure.

This modern cottage is an oasis set in a magnificent garden! It’s even better in person than the lovely photos. Kirsten has thought of EVERYTHING to make her guests both comfortable and delighted. Best place on Vrbo

I stayed here for 3 months during the summer of 2021. I was so sad to leave! It has absolutely every amenity you could need and was very well decorated down to the smallest of details. It's like a little secret oasis. It was really private, but Kirsten was also an awesome host whenever I needed anything. It was an easy drive into the city and down into the heart of silicon valley. The Caltrain station is also in walking distance. I highly recommend this property. Go stay here!!!

We were so happy to find this wonderful cottage!

We stayed at Kirsten's cottage for a little over one month after being evacuated from our home due to the wildfires in CA. Prior to our stay at the cottage, we had been vagabonds moving from place to place, none of which could hold a candle to the cottage. Its location was perfect for commuting to Silicon Valley, its proximity to great restaurants and shopping, and a wonderful family friendly neighborhood to take strolls. The best aspect of the cottage was its impeccable design which started with a hidden private entrance and private backyard garden. The interior design was light and bright with high ceilings which made it feel much larger. The choice of materials from flooring, to cabinets and counters, and furniture was top rate. The kitchen had everything you need and more. Kirsten was a great host who provided a tour of the property to get us oriented with all the gadgets, and she checked in during the stay to make sure we had everything we needed. There was a notebook with recommendations on local restaurants and things to do, and backup info in case you forgot how to work something. In short, every detail was thought through. We would highly recommend the cottage for any single people or couples!

Retirement stay

Kirsten's VRBO is so beautiful and relaxing. You start your visit by going thru a 'secret garden' filled with shady plants and a water feature. Then you come up to a peaceful little cottage that is so tastefully finished with thoughtful details and design that you never want to leave! You must experience how special it is! A wonderful home away from home!!

Every moment is a special occasion

I rented Kirsten’s one bedroom cottage while moving out of the house I sold nearby. Sleeping and relaxing in this wonderful and quiet house is lovely. The busy-ness of everyday life is put in perspective. Everything you need is beautifully organized. Very comfortable bed, up-to-date appliances and gas fireplace. I loved the high ceilings, many skylights, large sliding glass doors and the private terrace. The cottage has perfect lighting options for both day and night - feels like every moment is a special occasion. Enjoy your stay!

Modern cottage with everything

This back house with its own private garden is in a charming neighborhood in Redwood City. The owner has provided for everything with great style - you feel at home immediately. We will go back and stay longer - super location in between the airport and Silicon Valley.

Serene Yet Conveniently-Located Get-Away

Kirsten's cottage gave me just what I needed...a lovely, comfortable and inviting respite from a stressful situation. It was the perfect environment to work, relax and recharge. Such a rare find ...

The owner is a thoughtful, artful person who has considered every comfort and convenience possible. The "cabin" is spotless, bright, comfortable, airy, spacious, convenient, fresh, and beautiful and is set in the most fabulous, verdant garden. The check-in was seamless. This is a extraordinary place to stay. I am trying to figure out when I can go again.

Perfect Redwood City Cottage

The cottage is exactly like the pictures. It's charming, clean, and well stocked. The bed is super comfortable. It's located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood that's convenient to shopping. The owner is wonderful and thoughtful. This place is fantastic and I feel really lucky to have found it! I would recommend it without hesitation.

This cottage as a jewel. Situated behind a gorgeous home on a quiet street, this property has everything that one could need or desire. It is very spacious and has plenty of seating space in the living. The kitchen is very nice and is perfect for heating or cooking full meals. The bedroom is perfectly situated and is quite large, and the bathroom is also love and quite large. The cottage has its own entranceway and private front door or can be accessed through a side gate. There is a very nice patio outside the cottage with plenty of comfortable seating and barbecue. Bottom line, this cottage has everything for either a traveler for short-term or someone who desires a longer stay. It is entirely up-to-date electronically and it the perfect out-of-the-way spot located right in the center of everything.

Best VRBO I've ever stayed at!

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Kirsten's property for two and a half months, and it was by far the best property I've ever stayed at! I travel frequently for week and often stay in locations for a month at a time, and I always want to feel at home wherever I'm staying. That was no problem at the cottage as it had everything I could possibly need for my stay. Highlights included the gorgeous patio, comfortable bed, and all of the natural light and skylights in the house. The location of the house is perfect, within a 15 min walk of downtown Redwood City where there are plenty of different restaurants and lots of things to do as well as a Caltrain station. I would 100% stay again at this property, and look forward to doing so on future trips to the Bay Area!

Beautiful, peaceful and has everything you need!

I stayed at Kirsten’s cottage for one month. It is beautifully decorated, has everything you need and is surrounded by beautiful plants. It is so peaceful! It is also conveniently located to downtown Redwood City, as well as 280 and 101. Kirsten is warm and friendly, and goes out of her way to make you feel at home. I would absolutely stay here again ... you won’t be disappointed!

Great Quit and comfortable cottage

Amazing place. This was my third time renting. Quiet neighborhood, close to everything. Fully stocked kitchen as I stayed in and cooked most nights. Very clean and comfortable. Heated bathroom floor is nice, washer and dryer is convenient.Bed is comfortable. Kirsten is very nice. She even upgraded the kitchen chairs when I mentioned they were not comfortable (the new ones were much better). I would highly recommend this place.

I'm an interior designer with a passion for creating beautiful living spaces and gardens. I purchased my 1920's home because of its beautiful architecture and its location in a safe, serene, tree-filled neighborhood where neighbors actually know each other.

I designed and built the cottage because I wanted to create a space like the kind I like to find when traveling for business/pleasure in a different city/country. Something unique and stylish, that provides all the luxury and comforts, that's located in a lovely neighborhood that lets you feel like you're living here versus just visiting.

The cottage is located in the original historic home section of Redwood City, with wide well maintained sidewalks and streets, where you see people out walking, jogging, enjoying the neighborhood or strolling downtown for coffee, dinner or a movie.

I'm 15 minutes walking distance from the charming downtown with nice pubs, restaurants and a convenient bullet train station to SF, and only a 5 minute drive from either 101 or 280 (connecting highways to San Francisco and San Jose and all points north and south). It's also an easy 7 miles -15 minute drive to Stanford University/Palo Alto.
