Welcome to Hilltop Cottage! Be our guests in this beautifully renovated, historic cottage in the heart of it all! Renovated in May 2019!

Bring your family and friends and feel like a local as you settle in at The Hilltop Cottage! This bright, charming cottage is just steps from downtown Saugatuck and all there is to explore in the center of the action; you're just one block from restaurants, bars, coffee shops, shopping, playground, tennis courts, art galleries, and endless entertainment - just park your car and relax! Oval Beach, among the Top 10 Most Beautiful Beaches in the Nation, is a short bike ride, a 5 minute drive, or take the Chain Ferry across the Kalamazoo River and walk! Known as “The Art Coast of Michigan”, there are galleries galore to explore. The Saugatuck Center for the Arts offers performances that are among the best in the region. Easy drive to the many local golf courses, hiking in Saugatuck Dunes State Park, Fenn-Valley Vineyards, Crane's Apple Orchard, Dune Schooners rides and other area attractions.

The Hilltop Cottage features:
First floor:

- 2 bedrooms, each with 1 queen bed, new tempur-pedic mattresses
- 2 bathrooms
- Living room with two sofas, smart TV, basic cable, and Netflix/Hulu ready
- Parlor with couch, coffee table, dining table with leaves to enlarge for dining, games or puzzles.
- Screened-in back porch with table and wicker furniture
- Covered front porch, great for relaxing and people watching

- 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds, both with new tempur-pedic mattresses

Great location, walkable to downtown, great communication with owner, house is perfect. Only thing to note is you cannot walk to the beaches, however, there is an interurban bus that will take you everywhere for only 1!

Hilltop Cottage was perfect for our family! This is our third summer of renting a home in Saugatuck and we have found our forever home! You have a peaceful and lovely oasis to spend time with your family. Mornings on the screened in porch with coffee, listening to the birds, and watching the bunnies was the best way to start the day. Our granddaughters loved this home. They had the upstairs bedroom which looked out onto the treetops where they said it felt like a treefort. The family gathering spaces couldn’t have been more perfect! We were four adults and a 5 and 7 year old. The kitchen is fully stocked. We love to cook and found everything we needed. Evenings at the picnic table for dinner were lovely. You could watch the sunset and enjoy the evening sounds. Oval Beach days were made easy by all that is available in the shed from beach chairs to umbrellas to sand toys. The peace and quiet of Hilltop Cottage was lovely to return to each day. All of this and you are two blocks from town. There is a secret passage leading to the neighborhood from the Saugatuck playground.Truly the best of all worlds at Hilltop Cottage…serenity, comfort and all you need combined with a short walk to shops, restaurants, art museum and more. Kathy is a wonderful host! All of her thoughtful touches throughout the house made it feel like home. And, so sparkling clean! Kathy was available when we had any questions and it was a delight to meet her! We will be returning. Thank you Kathy!

Excellent location! Well kept!

This restored historic house is in a perfect location--a short walk up the hill from all of the action. The house is well set up, including lots of amenities for young ones--books, blocks, etc. We loved the beach gear, with plenty of chairs, an umbrella with sand drill, and beach toys. Having both an enclosed sun porch and an open front porch was great!

Perfect girls’ trip

We had a great weekend here in Saugatuck! The house was beautiful and the location makes morning coffee walks by the lake as easy as can be. Would definitely stay again!

Anniversary Getaway

Wonderful time celebrating our anniversary with our daughters and son-in-laws. House was perfect - clean and relaxing. Our host was super communicative. Enjoyed an afternoon sail, tasty dining, wonderful galleries, nice walks, and great porch conversations. Highly recommend this property as well as Saugatuck

Great House in a Great Location!

We stayed here with our three children and had a great experience! The house was exceptionally clean and very spacious for the five of us. The two connecting family rooms made it easy for everyone to gather without feeling crowded but the kids could go use the loft space and upstairs bedroom when they wanted as well. Three full bathrooms was also a MAJOR plus! One minor suggestion would be to put a second TV upstairs but it wasn't that big of an issue since we were usually gone most of the day. The screened in porch is great for coffee in the morning and it was nice having a driveway to easily park and load/unload our luggage. The owners keep the house well stocked with everything we needed from trash bags and toilet paper to shampoo and soap, it felt very much like a hotel experience. They even had beach chairs and boogie boards in the shed we could use at Oval Beach. The location is fantastic. You can walk right down the block and be on Butler street in a few minutes but you are far enough away that the neighborhood is still quiet and separate from downtown. Anyone who's been to Saugatuck knows being able to walk right into downtown without having to worry about parking is a huge advantage. The owners were very easy to get a hold of and made our stay very easy. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in Saugatuck!

Perfect for 8

The house on Main St was just what we needed for our 3 nights in Saugatuck. The house was the perfect size for 8 adults. Updates throughout the home made it obvious that the owners pay attention to detail. Added extras like k-cups, shampoo and body wash were greatly appreciated. One screened in porch and the front porch were an extension of the indoor living space. We had groceries delivered from both InstaCart and Walmart, so all we had to think about was having fun. Thank you to Kathy and Barry for providing an awesome place for us to make memories!

Wonderful home. Large and open area for family time. Three private bedrooms with bathrooms. Everyone truly enjoyed the front and back porches. Family meals easy to make in fully stocked kitchen. Special treats from our hosts.

Weekend stay in August

We found the home exactly as advertised. Plenty of space and the bedrooms are all spread out. The home is bigger with more room than we expected. The screened porch off of the kitchen was perfect. Bonus: 2 minute walk to downtown but quiet neighborhood. We will definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

Perfect location

This property was perfect for our family of six adults and two children. The upper level is actually a suite, a large bedroom, a sitting area to read or or relax and a full bathroom. It’s completely private. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the little things that makes cooking at home possible. We grilled two nights. The farmer’s Market was wonderful for fresh fruits and veggies. The owners were available and receptive. Just a great place!

Comfy cottage close to everything

We had a great stay at hilltop cottage! It was spotless and every detail was thought of - coffee, cookies, and even fresh flowers were provided! Beds were very comfortable and we loved being so close to town for the Venetian festival. Thank you! We would stay again!

Short graduation celebration

House was very clean and well maintained! We even had a plate of cookies upon arrival. Host was very responsive and even brought coffee creamer when we ran out. Very good location, would highly recommend!

Spectacular Location and Accommodations

The cottage was ideally located to the historic area of Saugatuck. Home has been tastefully updated but without losing any of the charm of a lake resort cottage.

Property manager never sent codes to access the house and was unresponsive the day of check in. When we arrived she was still cleaning the house.

This historic house was moved from the lumber boomtown of Singapore in the 1860's. We completely restored it in the 1990's and updated everything in 2019.
