What a beautiful property to chill out at. The birdlife and gardens stunning. Colin is a great host and made us very welcome. Even made us a jar of marmalade from fruit from his trees. Will definitely stay there again if in the area.Gav and Jen

Wonderful unique property

A lovely place to stay. Colin was incredibly accommodating and the schoolhouse was cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. The furnishings and surrounds were unique and the beds were great we slept really well. Highly recommend.

Old school charm

This property has a lot of history to it .Colin is absolutely a fabulous host , I rate this experience as 99.999 % out of 100If you want history and charm than this is the place.

Relaxing welcome break

This was a wonderful break with the kids. Plenty of space for everyone. So much to see and do at and in the property! Col was a lovely friendly host who made us feel very welcome.

Peaceful history

Beautiful 120+ year old building all needed modern comforts ,NBN for kids,comfy beds, great hosts just out of Gympie for easy shopping if you want to self cater. Kids loved opening the pivoting windows for airflow and supersoft couches.

Gympie visit

We stayed here to experience something authenticly Australian - and to stay in an Old Schoolhouse was just the ticket!Our host, Colin, was very helpful, informative and was able to make us feel very much at home here.The Schoolhouse is full of character and well, but simply appointed ammenities.Our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

Fascinating and Rustic

We had a wonderful stay. The property was fun and interesting. Bathroom entry is accessed outside from the porch but clean. Heating is not straight forward.

Our 'Old Schoolhouse' heating when required, is operated by a standard hand held remote controlling the airconditioning unit. There is a log fire oven, fan driven, for those cooler sub tropical nights if required. The bathroom is accessed from the rear porch and is under the main building roof about 4 metres from the old schoolhouse back door, it is not outside the building envelope. Our 'Old Schoolhouse' is not 'Rustic', in as much that it is 125 years old, a historic building and built from machine finished dressed and clean painted timber both inside and out, with polished timber floors.

Perfect Gympie weekend location

The old school house was the perfect spot for a weekend away. It has a very quirky old school charm and the fire was a perfect addition for the cooler weather. The house had everything you'd need and Colin was such a fantastic host. We really appreciated his warm hospitality! Local maps and things to do were a great help and Colin took the time to really make sure we knew the ins and outs of the house.

The Old Schoolhouse

Well kept historic building with interesting artefacts throughout. Very clean, well presented with the owner taking great pride in its presentation. The owner was very friendly and helpful with an easy check in and out. To note, the building has large windows throughout and lots of light comes in early so a sleep mask would be advised if you want to sleep in.

Old School House

Really enjoyed our stay in this delightful , heritage style cottage. The eclectic furnishings enhanced the property’s ambience. The chocolate biscuits in the fridge were an extra delight😋 Colin was a very welcoming host who made us feel right at home! Thank you.

Colin was a wonderful host to both adults and children. The school house is such a different place to stay: relaxing, spacious, welcoming, cosy; with interesting items on the walls, the tables, etc. Well equipped kitchen. Large verandah on both sides of the school house. Super comfy beds and pillows! Thank you Colin!

It's not often you get to sleep in what was once a one-teacher school -- if you listen carefully enough, you can hear a room full of both stern and cheerful voices echoing down the decades, all the way back to the late 1800s... Colin's done a masterful job transforming this space into a uniquely relaxing abode, where you can enjoy a tranquil setting yet know that you're only 15 mins from Gympie. Some guests might be slightly concerned that they need to exit onto the outdoor veranda to get to the bathroom and shower, but to me that only added to the old-world charm and authenticity of this special abode. Highly recommended, whether for singles, couples, families of 3-4, or small groups needing space for group discussion and reflection.

Like a step back in time - yet modern facilities

The location was lovely, set in a rural area but less than 10 minutes to Gympie. Was well equipped for cooking, included 2 fridges. Property had large verandahs on the north and southern sides. Beds were separated by a partition, so limited privacy when sleeping. Our host was friendly and helpful. If you like the idea of a stay in a dwelling of more than a century in age, this is for you.

Love the school house

We are amazed with the collection of interior decorated artifacts, peaceful and relaxing surroundings. The school building itself was so beautiful and adding to that experience, the host Colin was so nice and very welcoming.
