Ski cabin- Close, Comfortable, & well kept cabin- Family friendly

This home is geared towards families who are looking to make an affordable trip to the mountains for a ski adventure. We can help you to keep your trip affordable where rentals and food are concerned, the latter being the most difficult to manage. A full kitchen and affordable non-resort options can remove most of that pain, yet one of the 3 ski areas is only 10 minutes from our door. Note that we are not adverse to any type of group but rather we are a family of 4 and understand the needs of that group well. Being the group leader can be taxing and we hope to help you actually enjoy your trip instead of simply leading it.

The home sits directly between the two Snowshoe entrances Directly across from The Raven Golf Course! 2 Loft areas are located in the A frame vaulted ceiling(chateau style). There are two loft bedrooms and a couch. There are 2 beds with one in each of the lofts(separate bedding areas separated by a wall), and a couch with blankets on the first floor. Downstairs is a great room with a full kitchen, dining room table, living room and a separate full bath. There are two skylights. The walls are made out of six inch logs as seen in pictures,and the ceiling is knotty pine. Stairs are actual spruce beams and logs. Electric fireplace in living room.

Unit is well maintained and clean. Very rustic and cozy(downright nice)!! There is a full kitchen with pans and such for your use. It is well stocked but you may need to bring specialty or particular items. Floors are Slate, Hickory LVT, and Carpet. The hot tub is next door. Parking is in front of the unit. No more long hikes from the parking lot! No hallways.

There is a 50" TV w/ Smart TV downstairs and a' Flat Screen on 2nd floor. Most of my renters are families and as a father I know the kids tend to hijack the TV so I split them up when needed.

This is a fairly quiet location and is very close to the slopes. It is located in very wooded area. You can literally hike for days out of the front door. Cass, Big Springs,and other desirable locations are nearby. Affordable grocery and eateries are close to home. We detail local info to help you navigate a very spread out resort at an affordable price

The property was very cozy and had close proximity to the complex hot tub. The proximity to the ski resort was key for us and made the trip very smooth and easy. Will definitely come back.

Great unit! We had a grea...

I’m one of the lucky ones that was able to stay on both of his property and I can tell you they are very cozy, clean and fun to stay. Sling Tv and WiFi help to relax at night after a whole day of skiing. Owner has a great communication and place is 10 minutes from slope by car. I had a great stay with my daughter and my two labs.

Wonderful place to stay

Just off the mountain between front and back access of snowshoe. This little group of condos are wonderful. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the mountain and a 20 min ride from the top. Quick easy convenient. This is a spot to remember. Laundry and spa onsite. Even was able to bring my dog with preapproval and deposit. I will be back to this spot. Top notch.

The trip was nice. The house was quaint and clean. The property owner needs better communication skills, he was rude and demanding. He told me he had to look into me because I rented the property for my adult child and her spouse. I will not rent from him again.

Reasons to stay!

Three reasons to stay rent from Billy. 1) Cleanliness- the place was spotless when we arrived. 2) Bang for your buck- absolutely fantastic place to stay for the price! Not a long drive to the slopes and close to the store, some ski shops and a few places to grab a bite. There is also a hot tub that is perfect for when when you get off the slopes or back from hiking nearby trails. 3) Billy Davis- great person to rent from. If you have any problems at all, Billy will take care of them. He gave us great directions, great dining ideas, good snowboard runs to hit on the mountain, and most of all great service and a great place to stay at an affordable price. My rating for this rental, based on a scale of 1-10 is a 99. Rent for Billy and you won't regret it! Thanks again Billy, we had a great time! We look forward to seeing you next season.

Exactly as described, perfect for Snowshow Ski weekend

First of all, the host is fantastic and is extremely responsive and organized. The welcome letter/packet had all the information we needed as well as tips and suggestions for the area that we very helpful. The cabin is exactly as described and is cozy and well taken care of. We used the hot tub next door (start heating about 2 hours before you want to use it, takes a while to heat up). It is about 5 minutes to the entrance to Snowshoe. We had a great time skiing and it was nice being so close to the mountain without having to pay mountain prices. There was about 2-4 inches of snow both nights we were there, but our front wheel drive small SUV did not have any issues. I can see how it might be tough if there is a bigger storm. Overall, we absolutely suggest booking this place. Thanks Billy.

Don’t do it!

We were there for 14 hours and it was a struggle! There is NO air flow in the place besides a tiny window. He did provide fans that blew the stuffy air around. The beds are in a loft where you can’t stand up. Expect it to be even hotter upstairs. It was cool outside and I would have slept outside if there was actually a porch to this place. It may feel better in the winter but definitely not in the summer. We took our dogs because it was supposed to be “pet friendly”. However, “friendly” is not how we would describe the neighbors. Our dogs barked during the time we were gone to dinner and we received a very rude email. We were told, the other dogs that barked excessive was ok because our dogs were the cause. Our dogs were also very uncomfortable in the heat. We chose to leave after 14 hours and find something else. There are places that welcome dogs and have windows.

Comfy, cozy, and away from it all

We enjoyed a fantastic long weekend at Billy's central condo. Billy greeted us upon arrival, ready with answers to all of our questions about the area. He knows it well, so don't be afraid to ask, it will save you some anxiety, and wasted time. We came during the off season, so we had the area to ourselves, and it was as if he prepared everything especially for us...we had a freshly filled and clean hot tub just outside, that was wonderful to relax in, after long days working, and lovely drives meandering through the Monongahela Forest. He guided us to several scenic routes that we would not have found on our own. We loved it. The condo/cabin had all we needed for a relaxing getaway. We prepared well for being away from everything, by bringing lots of food with us, and had everything we needed at our fingertips for cooking-in, every day. The charcoal grill was great too! My husband is tall, so the loft bedroom was a little back bending for him, but who goes to a cabin to walk around in the bedroom? There is no cable, but there is Netflix and HBOGO, we also prepared well with lots of DVD movies ourselves. Nice break from the news! We would love to return in the future! I normally leave a note in the cabin, so a suggestion for Billy, is to have a note pad or chalk board handy for us old school noters. Other than that, all else was perfect! Thank you Billy for being a great host to us!

Excellent spot

We really enjoyed the place. We knew it would be relatively small and the price reflected that. The unit was spotless, the kitchen was more-than-ample, and while we weren't sure we'd be able to use the hot tub because it's a communal setup, we were the only ones using it. The kitchen is probably the best-equipped we've found at a short-term rental. (Note: this is about the equipment not the availability of groceries. There really isn't a grocery within a decent distance, so bring what you want. We did, and had no trouble cooking any of it with what was provided.) The only thing to be aware of--and it was clearly pictured and described, so this isn't a complaint but a further clarification--is the tightness of quarters in the upstairs sleeping loft. If you're sharing the bed with a partner, one of you will not be able to get up in the night without waking the other to make space for you to crawl out. And then you'll have to make your way down the rather steep loft steps if you're looking to reach the restroom. For us, it wasn't a dealbreaker. But it was a bit tighter than we'd expected. So, all good for the right place at the right place. But something to be aware of if you're up and down often in the night or have creaky joints that make low ceilings and steep stairs difficult.

Nice loft located near Snowshoe

My husband and I had a great ski trip in Billy's place. We were able to bring our Lab with us which was a bonus. The cabin had everything we needed to cook our own meals & relax after skiing all day. The loft height may be challenging for some so if you have back problems you may want to look at other options. For us it was no issue since there was plenty of room downstairs to hang out when we were awake.

It is a very nice clean cabin. We really enjoyed it and will definitely recommend it.

I will definitely try to rent the exact same cabin in the future. It’s a sweet dog friendly place. Just a few miles away from Snowshoe mountains. Great for skiers.

nice clean condo at base of mountain

My husband and I stayed at this property in Feb 2020 for 2 nights midweek. We found the booking and check in processes to be easy. The condo was easy to find and was very clean! The upstairs loft area does have a pitched roof. Both my husband and I are of average height and had to stoop down to move around up there. We ended up leaving our suitcases downstairs because it was easier to get dressed there with the higher ceiling. The downstairs floor space is limited and would be pretty tight for a party of more than 3 people. There was easy access to the mountain, restaurants and shops. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come back again. My only suggestion for improvement would be to upgrade the bedding (pillows and sheets) were pretty hard and almost plastic-feeling.

Billy’s place is adorable...and spotless. It was great to be able to bring our pups along: they loved hiking in the woods around the property. It’s a quick drive to Soaring Eagle, and to the grocery store/shops at the base of the mountain. Billy was especially helpful and patient regarding any questions we had! Don’t miss this place!

Awesome Host and Place

Billy is an amazing host. He gave us very clear and on time directions and checked-in with us to make sure we were able to check-in easily and also gave us the scenic driving route back to DC. The place itself was very clean, nicely laid out and has all the amenities for a perfect stay. Its a 10 min drive from the mountain and was perfect for our snowboarding weekend. We really enjoyed our stay at his place and look forward to renting it again for another boarding trip this winter.

Billy was awesome to work with. Communication was lightening fast!! We enjoyed our stay so much. The condo was wonderful. You felt like you were in a private cabin. Very quiet. Hot tub was an added bonus. There is so much to see and do in the area during ALL seasons. Very close to snowshoe, but private.Billy also gave us a great list of things to see and do with accurate directions. There was a landline phone available which was nice to call home and check in and of coarse in case of emergencies. Cell phone will not work. WiFi was fast and worked well. I can't say enough good about the location, the condo, or Billy!!! Just BOOK IT. You won't regret it.

Would stay again

Property owner is awesome. Correspondence was prompt and detailed. And my dogs got to come with me. Very close to Snowshoe and to Cass. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

Frequent visitor to the Snowshoe area. I like watching my kids enjoy and learn to appreciate the mountain environment and outdoor experience. Even if it is just for a few days at a time, they never forget the time the spend there. Nothing makes you smile like seeing an 8 year old climb to the top of her first mountain.

It's location is close to all of Pocahontas Counties outdoor activities, especially the biking/hiking right out the front door. Please note that the property has no legal address so the pin is incorrect. I will provide directions to my door from either entrance of Snowshoe. I am able to park directly in front of my house. But most of all the resort is within sight but I have peace and quiet. Surrounded by nature. On top of that I can cook in my own kitchen and the community is excellent. Kids can play outside and the I can walk the dog for miles.

Excellent hot tub facilities, parking right out front, a yard, cheap restaurants, a market outside of the resort, the creek, riding my bike to the Greenbrier river trail and turning south to get coffee in Marlinton, walking my pup, privacy, friendly neighbors, minutes to skiing, affordable ski shops, and a great deal more.
