The Resort was really nice and a perfect location to all the shopping entertainment and restaurants.The weather was excellent.I enjoyed spending my 70th birthday there.

Great place, great manager

Ellen was amazing. We couldn’t find anyone at the property to check us in and she was very responsive and let us in. She even gave us a vase for flowers. Cute place. Perfect for 2 people. Close to downtown.

The location was great and it had all the amenities. The manager was very helpful. But, the property manager was told my reservation was cancelled. So, I had to wait for the room to be cleaned before I moved in. So, the moving in process was a little stressful. But overall it was great.

Perfect location

The property, pool and hot tub area were great. Location was awesome! Walking distance to shopping, food and one of the farmer's markets. I would have given a 5 star rating however, the cockroach problem was an issue. Though it was clear there were attempts to combat the problem with electronic devices and "roach hotels" but by day 2 we were spraying and keeping our food in sealed containers. We did inform the desk associate who was going to be spraying other units the day of our departure and she was going to add it to her application schedule. Sure hope this takes care of the problem because the unit was nice. Parking as noted in other reviews was somewhat inconvenient but not at all a deal breaker.

Sheryl, we're so glad you loved the location, property, pool and hot tub area! We apologize, however, about the issue you encountered with pests in the unit. The homeowners have had the studio extensively treated for this problem, though it is a struggle that comes with being at ground level in this rainy climate. We encourage guests to always keep food sealed anyway and reach out with any concerns while in residence so we can ensure a most comfortable stay. We hope to host you again in the future! A lot to be desired

The condo was fine. The location is great. But besides that there’s a lot to be desired in this unit. First off as others have mentioned, the parking at this complex absolutely sucks. When I first arrived I had to call the local host to determine why the Murphy bed wasn’t coming down from the wall. She referred me to the condo instructions. I saw no instructions but her information was helpful so I got the bed to work. A little later I went to check out the desk in the corner and what appeared to be a guest book. Come to find out these were the condo instructions. They were handwritten so it was pretty confusing. Nonetheless the local host was helpful and nice. The condo is very small, and there’s no clothing storage. With such tight quarters it would be nice if the space was designed more efficiently so there’s space for guests to unpack belongings or store a suitcase. I never once used the desk so that could easily be changed out for a dresser. Or the closet could be organized in such a way to have drawer storage for clothing. The kitchen was well-equipped but the rest of the unit needs some creativity in design for comfort & efficiency. The walls were paper-thin & I could hear conversations from the condo next door, and they didn’t seem to be yelling (normal conversation volume). I won’t be staying here again but thank you

Great location

Great location, the kitchen and the apt in general is well equipped. The apt has a folding bed, which was strange and limited the transit within the apt. But it was comfortable. I was looking for the remote control and I found a pair of socks under the sofa, it was really dirty over there and also there is another clothe item inside the box where the folding bed fit in. I wish it was a bit cleaner…. The spa is great. Overall I enjoyed to stay here.

Good location but not the cleanest

The location was very good and our stay overall met our expectations with just a few exceptions. The cleaning fee was excessive for the cleaning actually performed on the unit, and this is where we felt the rental was lacking. The first thing we noticed was the musty mildew smell, primarily concentrated in the bathroom. Unfortunately the linens were not fully dried when put away and everything in the linen closet smelled with mildew. Since the towels were colored, no bleach was being used to kill the foul odors, so washing would not help. The extra pillows in the linen closet smelled just as bad as the damp towels, so this was not a one time occurrence. I highly recommend the owners change the linens for ones compatible with bleach and ensure the cleaning crew uses bleach on the towels to kill the odors and keep them in check. The top of the fridge was so dusty and dirty, it looked like it haven’t been wiped down in ages (small fridge, so the top was at eye level and tough to miss). The bathroom was fairly new and beautiful, but the shower curtain liner had not been washed or replaced in so long that the soap scum was quite built up. Shower curtain grommets were all covered in rust confirming the moisture and mildew issue in the unit. Perhaps installing a dehumidifier in the bathroom like another rental we had in Hawaii would go a long way. The AC helped with the dehumidification of the unit but was very undersized and had trouble keeping up. Parking is a big problem on the weekends. The complex lacks enough parking for all the units and you may need to park a few blocks away on the highway at the side of the road a few blocks away. Previous reviews did mention the lack of parking, so the parking issue was not a surprise. The was ample parking Sunday night and Monday when there were fewer renters around.

Great location

Great location just at the edge of the main beach strip. Nice garden area on the property along with a hot tub and pool. Parking was a little tricky in the overflow parking lot on the main road, but manageable. Well stocked with toiletries. though no scuba gear. No issues.

Renter Beware, Cleanliness substandard, Parking is Terrible

Where to start? Check in person was cold and could care less if we were there. Unit was not clean, numerous partly used perishable items were left in refrigerator, not enough trash bags to complete our stay, no trash bags for bathroom trash can, the television has mind of its own with various odd colors on screen, most horizontal surfaces were covered with dust and grime (we spent first morning cleaning so it was at least tolerable), 2 half used bottles of mouth wash left in bathroom cupboard (really, who would use that?), lack of place to put your cloths because bathroom cupboards are filled with beach towels and other unnecessary items. How many towels are really needed for this tiny unit? Ceiling fan was covered in dust, there is a rusty towel drying rack on patio next to the moldy furniture. The parking situation is the worst ever, having to park along a busy highway on very uneven ground. So all I can say is I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Kona Islander

I really enjoyed my stay here! It’s perfect for solo travelers or a couple. The condo was clean and welcoming. It was so close to restaurants, beach and shops in downtown Kona, you could walk everywhere. There’s also bike rentals in front of On the rocks. Farmers market right next door too! I wished the check out was a bit later since my flight was later in the day, so next time I would check out the night before or ensure my flight is early. The ladies in the in the cafe in lobby were nice enough to watch my luggage after check out while I went to breakfast and beach before my flight. Mahalo to all and hope to stay again on my next visit!

Ok. But wouldn’t come back

Well I’m not sure where to start! I don’t want to come off as some annoying reviewer as I legit never review things. But we were pretty upset by the end of our stay so I thought I needed too. First off the property it’s self I liked! Right in town, clean, cute, everyone complains about parking here and yeah it wasn’t right outside but it was easy and really not that far. Pool was nice, jacuzzi, laundry, nice ! BBQ 2 of 4 worked which was a bummer so we had to share with everyone and wait in line. Our place was cute and clean for the most part but seriously COCKROACHES everywhere! We have owned rentals in Kona so we understand they are around but this place didn’t have anything to prevent or keep them away! Some small thing on the wall looked to be some sort of repelent but let me tell u it was old and didn’t work! We had to buy our own which after paying what we paid should have just been included! Not to mention gross! All the towels smelt like mildew upon arrival and had to be re wash at our own expense which again wasn’t cool after what we spent. The ‘well equipped kitchen’ had some weird stove that kept shutting off, one sauce pan that I kid u not made bacon stick to it, some utensils and a coffee machine that like the rest of the place had to be cleaned as it was infested with baby cockroaches! DISGUSTING We emailed ahead of time to ask about beach chairs and the contact said yes but when we got there, there was none. Two days into our trip they just appeared inside our studio and we were never informed of someone entering the property! Weirded us out and seemed really unprofessional Upon ALL of this we never complained once just had a great time enjoying each other and laughing things off! Finally we asked for a late check out as our flight back home wasn’t until 5 and we wanted a place to shower. Upon asking the contact she’s informed us we couldn’t have one! Pretty disappointing after everything else we didn’t complain about it! Spend your money at a cleaner and more accommodating place even if it’s at this inn!

Hannah, we're sorry to hear that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. The homeowner prioritizes every guest experience and does everything they can to make it the best possible stay, and they are surprised to hear of your concerns. The Islander Inn has a very good pest control company that services the property regularly. The owner will address these concerns, as well as the issues with the barbecues with the staff to ensure that future guests do not share your experience. The towels had been washed shortly before your check-in and the owner is confident that they did not have a mildew smell. They apologize for the communication issues regarding the beach chairs. The local guest contact realized that they were not returned by the previous renters and replaced them to ensure that you had a comfortable stay with the promised amenities. Additionally, the local guest contact always tries their best to accommodate late check-outs, however, since there was someone due to check-in to the property after your stay, they were unable to accept this request on short notice. In the future, please don't hesitate to reach out with any issues that may occur. Great location and clean

Excellent location, walking distance to shops, restaurants and bars. The only issue i have is the lack of parking. If you arrive late, there is a good chance you will have to park in the street or in a small lot not far from the condo. But this is the only minor issue I had. The condo was as described and very clean. Great stay.
