Beautiful spacious house for the 6 adults in our group. Perfect location, tucked away in the country with lovely gardens. A 20 min walk across fields and through a wood took you to Crackington Haven beach. It's a steep walk but so is all the coast line in this area. If you want to do some of the South West coast path it's perfect. Bude is a 15 min drive away with some great surf beaches and a fantastic free Sea Pool.Boscastle, Tintagel and Padstow are a short drive also.Pretty much everything you need is in the house and the large dining room area is perfect for meals and games in the evening. The hosts were very responsive and helpful, thanks for letting us stay in your lovely home

Such a beautiful house with everything you need. We stayed as a family of 7 and the house was perfect for our stay. We were extremely lucky with the weather so enjoyed the outdoors mostly. The house is in a remote location which is perfect for those seeking tranquility. It is a very short drive from Crackington Haven; a beautiful beach and pretty quiet despite the beautiful weather. You can walk to the beach but quite steep on the way back! You can also find anything you need at the village shop, only a few minutes walk away. The shop is ran by locals and everyone is very welcoming. We visited Boscastle, a pretty fisherman village 15 mns drive. Also nearby is Tintagel Castle with breathtaking coastal views, an absolute must! We also drove to Newquay for an amazing day at the beach and St Ives. Overall, a perfect week so would definitely recommend this accommodation.

The perfect getaway.

Beautiful location. Extremely peaceful, just what we required. Within easy distance of Widemouth Bay and Bude, perfect for the teenagers for body boarding. The house itself was beautifully presented and large with a superb garden.

Great cottage, great location

Really pleasant cottage with lots of space for a large family. Wonderful coastline minutes away Rachel & Chris we’re very helpful when needed and provided useful information ahead of our arrival. The cottage could better accommodate larger parties with a larger fridge and more crockery, but they’re minor details. Thank you for a lovely holiday

Fantastic place to stay in Cornwall

Stayed here with a few friends and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. A ~15 minute walk from Crackington Haven and its little beach which is a lovely place to spend a day, or the Coombe Barton Inn where you can sit with a drink in the evening and watch the sun go down below the sea's horizon. Beyond Crackington, it's a stone's throw from plenty of attractions, such as Dartmoor, where we spent a day, Bude, Port Isaac, Boscastle. The southern end of Cornwall is within reach for a day trip and we spent a day in St Ives (approx 1hr30 drive). The barn is well furnished and comfortable with all the accoutrements you could ask for, and Rachel, Chris, and their family were very welcoming and within reach if we needed anything, but equally not overbearing. I'd recommend this to anyone and I'm sure we'll be back in the future!

Beautiful and spacious house in a great location for exploring north Cornwall

I stayed here with my family (7 adults in total) for several nights in December 2017. The house was perfect for us, spacious yet cosy (especially with the wood burner on!), with lots of character. Very clean, and a well-equipped kitchen. The location is fantastic - easy to find yet tucked away in a lovely rural location, not far from the coast and well placed for exploring north Cornwall - we visited Tintagel, Port Isaac and Padstow which were all only a short drive away. I would highly recommend this property.

Lovely place with all facilities

We rented The Mealhouse over Christmas. The property was everything we hoped for and more- beautiful place in a beautiful setting with nice views. All the rooms were spacious and kitchen was fully equipped for visitors. The games and books were a pleasant surprise and we all loved the wood burner with the skylight above to watch the rain (there was a lot of rain!!). Our group was made up of 3 young couples and 3 toddlers. Everyone had a good time. Owners Rachel and Chris were also a pleasure to deal with though we didn't get to meet them in person. We would definitely recommend The Mealhouse and would be happy to stay here again should we visit the area again.

Excellent

Overall our stay at the Mealhouse was fantastic, a beautiful peaceful retreat. The house offers amble space and is well consider to meet all needs. It is well equipped and we cooked every evening. Our beds were extremely comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Loved having the wood burning stove we had to use it even though the weather was beautiful. We even sat outside and had tea and cake. Plenty of walks locally that offer both woodland and coastal experiences with spectacular views, we were lucky to see an owl and a falcon, both very close to us. Here nature is at its finest. We did a number of different walks from the 'Short Walks in north Cornwall' and each one offered such wonderful views and sights. We will be back.
