Nestled within 10 acres of private woodland, landscaped gardens and olive terraces, Alventura is a luxury boutique villa where you’ll enjoy a tranquil and authentic stay surrounded by Tuscan nature. While the villa feels secluded, it is just a mile from the Medieval hilltop town of Barga (renowned as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy), and around 45 minutes from Lucca.

Alventura has been meticulously restored with luxury, space and comfort in mind, retaining a traditional Tuscan feel with a contemporary edge. It has a lovely homely feel, as we lived there for many years while we renovated. The kitchen is very well appointed with high quality equipment and utensils, and is a pleasure to cook and dine in. We provide a welcome basket of local treats to start you off and there are plenty of cookbooks on hand to inspire you. The cosy lounge area offers a peaceful place to relax, read or chat around the fire. All three spacious bedrooms have luxury ensuite bathrooms and offer spectacular views to wake up to. We provide luxury complimentary toiletries and high quality bedding and towels. Windows have mosquito netting.

The villa is south facing, so enjoys sunshine from early morning until late afternoon, and there are plenty of quiet spots in the garden to relax. You can take in the stunning views over the valley on the loungers in the sun, under a pergola shaded with kiwi and wisteria or under an olive tree. The pretty courtyard is the perfect place for alfresco dining and there’s also a shaded, paved terrace overlooking the large saltwater pool – perfect for aperitivos! Children will love the pool, all the toys, the library, and the park with a tree house.

The villa, pool, terraces and a well-equipped outdoor kitchen complete with pizza over are all for your own private use.

A great choice!

A truly fantastic trip!

We honestly cannot stress enough how brilliant the Villa was and how excellent Anne is too. I know everyone has said the photos don’t do it justice, but they really don’t. The place is much bigger than the pictures make out, and a perfect space for people to be together, but also to have their own space. The views are insane too from the pool! The location of Barga is a dream and feels like a hidden gem near Lucca and Pisa. Anne has lots of great recommendations and will help you have a brilliant time. I cannot recommend this location and Villa more! Thanks again for a special time Anne.

A beautiful, comfortable villa in the Tuscan hills.

Superb. We had a great week in the beautiful villa Alventura. The facilities are excellent, the surrounding countryside is stunning and Anne and Simon couldn’t have been more helpful as hosts. We particularly appreciated both indoor and outdoor kitchens, well equipped, and the pizza oven was well used by us. The bedrooms are spacious and the whole place was clean and well looked after. The pool is great for cooling off. Even though the September weather we had was rather mixed the afternoons were generally hot and the south facing terrace is a great place to relax. We found the property was a great base from which to explore the smaller towns and villages in the area, such as Bagni di Lucca and Castelnuovo di Garfagnana as well as Barga itself. We were also able to get to bigger places, such as Lucca, Pisa and Florence, with no trouble. It’s worth noting that the general terrain is hilly and the roads have numerous sharp bends, so bear that in mind if arranging a hire car. The train services are also very efficient and not too pricey. We would definitely go back to this villa if going to the same area.

LOVED this house!

Our group included 2 couples and two 24 year old daughters and this house was perfect for us. All the bedrooms were very spacious and had their own bathroom. Beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of hangers and shelves for our clothing. Kitchen was well-equipped and the living room with its fireplace was an ideal area to relax after a day of adventure. Outdoor space was heavenly with its lounge chairs and pool. It was May and pool was a bit chilly but we all still went in. There’s a covered area with table where we enjoyed drinks several nights. Anne was a lovely host and was very patient as she answered all my questions about a couple of Italian appliances lol. She even organized our day to Cinque Terre and suggested a couple of restaurants which were amazing! We also had the option of getting a personal chef one night to either teach us a cooking class or cook us a meal. We chose the meal and Linda did not disappoint…it was absolutely delicious. She even accommodated our allergy request of no tomato or mushrooms. We also took advantage of the bbq and cooked a couple of our own meals and the washing machine came in handy as it allowed us to do our laundry before heading to our next house. Anne, we loved staying at your place and we will be back! We travel a lot and you were one of our best hosts so thank you for your kindness and hospitality! And I will be thinking about Linda’s homemade ravioli with sage butter for many years! Sigh.

Wir waren eine Gruppe von 6 Freunden und haben Urlaub in der Toskana gemacht. Anne unser Host hat uns unglaublich toll empfangen. Wir waren sofort von allem begeistert. Die drei Schlafzimmer mit jeweils eigenem Bad waren wunderschön, sowie Terrassen und der Poolbereich, welche unglaublichen Ausblick bieten. Wir haben uns richtig zuhause gefühlt, Anne war immer für uns da egal was wir brauchten. Rundum eine perfekte Unterkunft mit perfekten Gastgebern. Dankeschön!

Entspannter Urlaub in wunderschöner Villa

Wir waren für eine Woche mit Freunden und Kindern in der Villa von Anne und haben die Tage in vollen Zügen genossen. Das Haus ist zauberhaft, ebenso der Garten, der Pool, die Terrassen, der Blick in ein grünes Tal, die Ausstattung (auch für Kinder), die große Küche. Sehr praktisch auch, dass jedes der drei Schlafzimmer ein eigenes Bad hat. Anne stand immer hilfsbereit zur Seite, man hat aber trotzdem ganz viel Privatsphäre. Wir haben den Pizzaofen genutzt (mit sehr leckerem Ergebnis) und sind vom Haus auch mal durch den Wald nach Barga gewandert. Danke, Anne, für den wunderbaren Urlaub!

Fint hus med fin pool nära Barga

Ett fint hus med jättefin utsikt, en fin pool nära den mysiga staden Barga. Ägarna var väldigt vänliga och hjälpte oss med både restaurangbokningar och tips. De hade även handlat diverse basvaror till frukost och lunch vilket vi uppskattade mycket. Även om ägarna bodde precis bredvid så upplevdes bostaden som väldigt privat. I Barga som nås med bil inom minuter fanns flera bra restauranger och en fantastisk glassbar. Vi kan varmt rekommendera detta boende.

Amazing villa on the outskirts of Barga

Our group had a fantastic experience staying at Anne and Simon's villa. The space is beautifully decorated, spacious and absolutely spotless upon arrival. Anne addressed any questions we had within minutes and was there to set up a cab ride for us and offer activities during some of the rainy days. Each bedroom with its own en suite bath was a huge plus for our group. Couldn't recommend the villa more. I look forward to returning.

Underbart hus och fantastisk värd!

Vi spenderade en fantastisk vecka i detta helt underbara hus! Vi var 2 familjer med 4 vuxna och 3 barn. Huset ligger helt underbart på kullarna utanför Barga. Huset har ett välutrustat kök o och dessutom ett fantastiskt utekök med vedeldad ugn och grill. Perfekt för alla som gillar att laga mat. Fina terasser både på fram och baksida. Poolen var helt underbar under dessa dagar då det var rejält varmt. Men trots detta underbara hus så var ändå det bästa med allt att Anne och Simon är helt underbara värdar. De hämtade oss på stationen, skjutsade oss dit vi behövde, bokade restaurangbesök och var så hjälpsamma och trevliga på alla sätt. Vi kunde inte ha haft en bättre vecka! Tack Anne och Simon! Vi kommer tillbaka!

Wie bereits in den vorherigen Bewertungen ausführlich beschrieben: Dieses Ferienhaus ist großzügig, sehr geschmackvoll und funktional, die Umgebung spektakulär und Anne eine phantastische Gastgeberin!! Amazing place!

We were a group of eight adults and children in Barga for a few days. We stayed there for its locations and it did not disappoint. Barga is a really neat walled town and the surrounding area is absolutely stunning. Anne’s place is a bit out of town on a hill overlooking the countryside in a beautiful old farmhouse. The pictures do not do the home justice - the three bedrooms are huge, there are several outdoor seating areas, the house is beautifully decorated and overall just an amazing place to stay. It is quiet, but close to everything you’d need. Anne was a wonderful hostess, responding immediately to any of our needs and very helpful with suggestions for visiting the area. We are already looking at options for returning, as we had such a nice time while we were there. Thanks again, Anne and family!!

Haus, Gastgeberin und Umgebung erstklassig!

Unglaublich schönes Haus, sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und toll ausgestattet. Alles da, was man für einen tollen Urlaub braucht. Der Pool (14m) ist so gelegen, dass man die tolle Umgebung sehen kann (kein gegenüber). Auf den 4 Poolliegen mit grossen Sonnenschirmen kann man toll relaxen und hat Pool und die weitläufige Umgebung im Blick. Auf dem Grundstück gibt es sehr viele abgelegene schöne Plätze mit tollen Möglichkeiten zum entspannen. Eine schöne Veranda, ein zusätzlicher Balkon und eine weitere Terrasse bieten spektakuläre Ausblicke! Die Aussendusche ist zu empfehlen, duschen mit Blick über die Toskana - wie wunderbar. Man kann gut Tischtennis spielen - ein toller Platz für die Familie. Barga liegt ca. 5 Autominuten entfernt und hat tolle kleine Restaurants. Wir sind immer mit dem Taxi gefahren (Massimo Taxi - Topservice!!!), das was sehr entspannend. Zu Fuss läuft man ca. 30 Min. durch den Wald nach Barga. Sein eigenes Auto kann man auch nehmen, Parkplätze gibts in Barga ausreichend. Die Toscana ist in diesem Teil Italiens sehr bergig und grün, hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Der Wald ist auch gut für Spaziergänge und Wanderungen und fängt direkt hinter dem Grundstück an. Einfach traumhaft. Excellent séjour

Nous avons passé une semaine parfaite dans cette maison très bien tenue, super confortable et à laquelle il ne manque rien. Anne est aux petits soins pour partager sa connaissance de la région et nous donner tous les conseils utiles pour profiter du séjour en fonction de nos envies (et elles sont nombreuses à pouvoir être comblées notamment celles en lien avec la nature). La maison est très bien équipée particulièrement la cuisine. Chambres très confortables. Jolie décoration. Four à pizza pour passer de très bons moments conviviaux. Piscine de très bonne taille, bien exposée avec une très jolie vue. La maison est à 3mn de Barga qui est un petit bourg charmant avec quelques bons restaurants dans le vieux village. La route est proche de la maison et il y a un peu de bruit mais ce n’est pas une nuisance. Il n’y a pas non plus de jardin car le terrain n’est pas plat mais l’espace autour de la piscine est suffisant. Il y a plusieurs terrasses très agréables dont une avec vue pour le soir. Au final une maison vraiment recommandée pour découvrir cette partie de la Toscane qui est encore assez méconnue.

Tolles Ferienhaus mit Pool im grüneren, bergigeren Teil der Toscana

Sehr schönes großes Ferienhaus mit geschmackvoller Einrichtung und Pool. Herrlich im Grünen unterhalb des niedlichen Ortes Barga gelegen. Tolle Ausstattung - Küche mit allem, was man braucht, Wohnzimmer, Balkon…. Außenküche mit Pizzaofen - ein Riesenspass für die Kids und die Erwachsenen. Herrlich großer, sauberer Pool.

Bellissima esperienza (nonostante il maltempo)

Abbiamo soggiornato in questa splendida villa per 3 notti, a inizio ottobre. Prima della vacanza abbiamo mandato diversi messaggi e chiesto parecchie informazioni alla proprietaria (Anne) che è stata gentilissima e sempre disposta ad aiutarci. Il check-in è stato rapido e Anne si è subito messa a disposizione in caso avessimo bisogno di qualsiasi cosa. La villa è stupenda e perfetta per due famiglie con bambini come noi perchè ogni camera dispone di bagno privato! Al piano terra c'è una bellissima camera da letto matrimoniale con terrazzo privato, una spaziosa cucina (attrezzatissima) e una bella sala comune con caminetto che abbiamo utilizzato tutti i giorni per scaldare tutta la casa. Al primo piano ci sono altre due camere da letto molto grandi e luminose. Una casa così grande non è facile da pulire, eppure abbiamo trovato tutto davvero molto pulito! L'esterno della villa è bellissimo, anche se avendo avuto pioggia per 3 giorni di fila, non lo abbiamo potuto sfruttare... Però ci sono due spazi esterni molto belli dover poter mangiare o prendere un aperitivo e un area giochi per i bimbi con casetta in legno e altalene. La villa è immersa in un bosco dove si possono fare passeggiate fino a raggiungere un ruscello. Nel periodo in cui siamo stati noi avremmo anche potuto andare a castagne o funghi, sarebbe stato bellissimo con i bimbi. Peccato che siamo stati "meteorologicamente" sfortunati. La cittadina di Barga si trova a due minuti di macchina, per andare in centro a Lucca ci vogliono una quarantina di minuti, per cui la posizione è molto buona per visitare la Garfagnana. Speriamo di tornarci presto per riuscire a godercela ancora meglio! Grazie Anne!

Excellent holiday

Had a fabulous holiday at Alventura. The property was wonderful and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful. Excellent facilities. The pool was lovely and the outdoor kitchen was great - we had some lovely meals from the BBQ and the pizza oven. Great location. Couldn’t fault anything about the property or the friendly owners.

We live in a barn conversion next to the villa with our 2 teenage daughters. We moved here in 2003 and have completely restored the villa and barn in between working as a walking holiday guide and bringing up the girls..Before we moved here,we travelled around the world, working and playing for ten years, mostly in the tourist industry, catering chalets in various ski resorts in Europe and North America.

After searching the length and breadth of Tuscany, we found this region (garfagnana) to be the most beautiful area for both holidaymakers and for a young family. It isnt as touristy as other regions and its very well located for city visits, hilltop towns, beaches, and skiing.
Barga is a very up and coming, vibrant town with many festivals through the summer, including art , music, food, and theatre. The climate is perfect, without such intense heat as the lower tuscan regions.Its a place to really experience italy at its best.
We have many years of experience in both the food world and the travel industry, and having lived and worked for many years in Tuscany we feel we can share the culture, history, cuisine and hospitality of Tuscany in a relaxed and informal manner.

The villa is situated just 1.2km from Barga, surrounded by woodland. From the door are 3 different hiking routes to town, taking either 45 mins, an hour or a longer trail via Tiglio taking 3 hours to reach the town.
